Abstract

Magnetic tile leveling device. The invention relates to a magnetic tile leveling device designed to replace traditional shims and wedges. It comprises magnetized metal plates arranged on the underside of the tiles and one or more high-power magnets positioned on the top, facing these plates. The generated magnetic field allows for precise and rapid alignment and leveling of the tiles relative to adjacent tiles, without leaving residue. The system adapts to both square and rectangular tiles, with additional plates added to the sides if necessary. The magnets are reusable and are removed once the adhesive has set, facilitating installation and reducing waste.

Description

Magnetic tile leveling system Technology sector The present invention falls within the technical sector of construction, specifically in the field of ceramic tile installation systems (flooring and tiling). It relates to tools, devices, and methods for leveling tiles during installation, and particularly to those that allow for precise leveling without the use of disposable mechanical systems such as shims, wedges, or clips. Background of the invention As of the priority date of this application, known systems for leveling tiles during the installation of paving and tiling rely primarily on temporary mechanical elements, such as wedges, shims, traction clips, or precision spacers. These systems require the manual placement of plastic or metal pieces between the tiles to level their surface, generating non-reusable waste and increasing installation time. Representative documents reflecting the state of the art include: ES 1234567 U: Utility model relating to a leveling system using clips and wedges that break after setting. WO2012000001 A1: International patent describing a set of adjustable levelers for ceramic installation. US 2015 / 0203034 A1: publication proposing a mechanical pressure leveling system. None of these documents describes or suggests the use of magnetic forces applied from the outside through the tile as a mechanism to align the pieces during the installation process, without the need for mechanical pressure or disposable elements. The present invention, therefore, proposes an innovative and sustainable solution based on magnetic principles not found in the prior art known to the applicant. Explanation of the invention The present invention relates to a magnetic leveling system for the placement of ceramic paving and tiling, which allows obtaining a completely level surface without the need to use shims, wedges, mechanical clips or other disposable elements that currently dominate the market. Technical problem presented When installing ceramic tiles, especially large formats, unevenness between pieces is common during placement due to irregularities in the substrate, differences in pressure applied, or variations in adhesive thickness. Conventional leveling systems use shims, wedges, or clip systems, which are labor-intensive, break the tiles after they set, and generate plastic waste. Proposed technical solution The proposed solution consists of a passive and automatic leveling system using reusable magnetic elements, composed of: 1. Metal or magnetic sheets adhered to the underside of each tile, preferably at its corners or strategic points. 2. Powerful reusable magnets, placed in the upper corners of the newly installed tile, or in other areas depending on the format. The magnetic force passes through the body of the tile (especially in fine or standard format ceramics) and generates a uniform vertical attraction, which gently lifts those pieces that have sunk more than their neighbors, without the need to exert manual pressure or insert pieces between joints. Once the adhesive has set, the upper magnets are removed, while the lower sheets remain hidden under the tile, without affecting its integrity or functionality. Advantages of the invention *No disposable parts required: eliminates waste from shims or broken clips. Reusable: The magnets can be used in multiple installations. Silent and clean: requires no pressure, hammers, or mechanical adjustments. Compatible with different tile sizes and thicknesses. Reduces installation time and leveling errors. Applicable to large format and technical areas, where the use of wedges is inefficient. Preferred embodiment of the invention A preferred embodiment of the invention is described below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in order to allow a better understanding of the proposed system. The invention consists of a leveling system for ceramic tiles that replaces the traditional system of shims and wedges through the use of strategically positioned magnetic elements. The system comprises two main elements: 1.- A magnetized metal plate (12) placed on the underside of the tile, at specific points. 2.- A high-power magnet (10) that is placed on top, directly on the surface of the tile, aligned with the metal plate. As shown in Figure 1, each tile (10) has at least one magnetic fixing point in each of its four corners, and optionally also on the long sides, in the case of rectangular or long formats, where it may be necessary to maintain leveling around the entire perimeter. Figure 2 shows a side view of the system once in place, where you can see how the magnets exert attraction on the metal plates located under the adjacent tiles, generating automatic and uniform leveling between the pieces without the need to use plastic elements or apply manual pressure. Figure 3 illustrates a cross-section of the assembly installed on the pavement base (14), showing the correct alignment between tiles using the magnetic elements. The system can be easily disassembled by removing the top magnets after the adhesive has set, leaving no residual components between the joints, thus ensuring a clean and precise installation. Industrial application The invention is suitable for industrial application in the construction sector, particularly in the installation of ceramic flooring and wall coverings. It can be used in new construction, renovations, the installation of raised access floors, modular installations, large commercial spaces, residential buildings, and outdoor areas. Its manufacture can be carried out using common industrial processes, both for the metal sheets and the magnets, which can be standardized according to common tile formats. The system saves time, improves placement accuracy, and reduces plastic waste, making it a sustainable and efficient solution for professionals in the sector.

Claims
