A system that enables ad hoc virtual communication between graphical user representations in a virtual environment. The system comprises one or more cloud servers (102) implementing a virtual environment (108). The virtual environment is configured to allow at least one approaching graphical user representation and at least one target graphical user representation within the virtual environment to open an ad hoc communication channel, and to allow ad hoc conversation through that channel between the graphical user representations within the virtual environment.
