Abstract

Self-supporting mineralized lignocellulosic material without synthetic resins and method of obtaining it by mold forming and stabilization heat treatment. The invention relates to a method for obtaining a self-supporting part from lignocellulosic fibers, mineral particles, and an aqueous acid-nitrogen system comprising polycarboxylic acid and urea. The wet mass is formed in a mold by mechanical pressure to obtain a preform, which is subjected to heat treatment in air between 140 and 170 °C until a stable part is obtained. The resulting material has a mineral phase distributed within the lignocellulosic matrix, is free of synthetic resins, and exhibits improved flame resistance. The part is applicable as an insulation, cladding, or paneling element.
