Abstract

A sensor signal is generated from multiple sensors located on a sensor roller. Each sensor generates a signal upon contact with the sensor roller during each rotation. An oscillating component, such as a scraper or cleaning sprayer, affects a web of material upstream of the contact point. Each sensor generates a signal upon contact. A periodic start reference is generated for each oscillation of the oscillating component. The signal generated by each sensor is received to determine which sensor generated it and to identify one of the tracking segments associated with the oscillating component. The signal is then stored and associated with the identified tracking segment.
