Abstract

An injection device assembly is described, comprising a housing, a syringe, an actuation mechanism, and one or more sensing systems. The actuation mechanism moves the syringe from the storage position to the injection position, and a plunger moves the syringe piston from the initial to the final position. The status sensing system may include one or more main printed circuit boards located at one end of the injection assembly housing. The system can determine various parameters related to the operating status of the injection device, such as the location of its components, the amount of medication remaining, the medication temperature, and whether the device is in proper contact with the user's skin prior to injection. The system can communicate these parameters to an external device via a wireless communication link.
