Abstract

The invention consists of a decentralized ledger-based system that enables compliance with privacy regulations. A consumer identifier (Consumer ID) allows the source of consent to be stored in a shared decentralized ledger. The consent ID also allows consumers to track how their data has moved along the supply chain. Consumer data itself is not stored on the blockchain; only consents and data transfer events are recorded. A consent API allows companies to enter the original consumer consent into a consent record; a data transfer API allows companies to record data transfers between them; and a subscription API allows companies to receive notifications about changes to a given consent.
