Abstract

This invention relates to altemative earth construction materials, specifically the development and manufacturing of Cement Stabilized Compressed Earth Blocks (CSCEBs) using locally sourced soils with defined physical and chemical properties. The invention integrates indigenous engineering practices with emerging technologies to enhance the mechanical and structural performance of CSCEBs through scientific research and technological invention. The process includes optimized soil selection, controlled soil blending, stabilization with small % of cement using a specified water— cement (W / C) ratio, and compression using compressed earth block making machines. An optimum W / C ratio of 4.71 / 7 achieves maximum and average compressive strengths of 4.65 MPa and 4.24 MPa, respectively. Compared to conventional earth blocks, the developed CSCEBs demonstrate improved strength, durability, water resistance, bonding, structural integrity, plastering and painting performance. The resulting blocks provide a cost- effective, thermally efficient, environmentally sustainable, and load-bearing solution suitable for low-cost, disaster-resistant, and eco-friendly affordable rural housing development.
