Method and apparatus for extracting dust generated by using a power tool

Abstract

An apparatus (1000) comprises a dust extractor (500) to extract dust particles (DUST1) produced during operation of a power tool (TOOL1), wherein the dust extractor (500) comprises: - a fan (FAN1) to cause an airflow (AIR1), - a motor (M1) to rotate the fan (FAN1), - a filter (FIL1) to separate dust particles (DUST1) from the airflow (AIR1), - a filter cleaning unit (FCU1) to automatically clean (AFC) the filter (FIL1) with cleaning air pulses (PU), - a current measuring unit (AM2) to measure an electric current (PM) drawn by the power tool (TOOL1), - a control unit (CNT1) to control operation of the dust extractor (500), wherein the control unit (CNT1) is arranged to compare the measured electric current (PM) with an auto-clean limit value (LIM0), and to control automatic cleaning (AFC) of the filter (FIL1) based on a result of the comparison.
