Augmented reality vehicle periscope

Abstract

A system (100, 400) comprising a tracker (102), at least one autostereoscopic display (104), and at least one periscope (106, 402, 404, 406). The periscope comprises a periscope body having first and second ends (106A, 106B), a first reflective interface (108) arranged at the first end and on an optical path (110) of a real-world light field of a real-world environment, and a second reflective interface (114) arranged at the second end and on the optical path of the real-world light field. The second reflective interface is positioned to receive the real-world light field reflected from the first reflective interface and is oriented toward at least one user (408) during use. One of the first reflective interface and the second reflective interface is semi-transparent and arranged on an optical path (116, 202, 300) of the at least one autostereoscopic display (104). At least one processor (118) is configured to determine relative positions of eyes of the user, generate or retrieve a light field image, and display the image.
