AI Technical Summary
In ATEX environments, there is a latency issue in stopping thermal machines due to operators needing to manually activate emergency stops after receiving gas detection alarms, which is exacerbated by noise-cancelling headphones and distance from machines, requiring a dedicated operator, thus compromising safety.
An interconnection device that automatically controls the emergency stop circuit of construction machines based on gas detection beacon alarms, using an interconnection circuit that opens or closes the circuit depending on the alarm state, reducing latency and eliminating the need for manual intervention.
The solution significantly reduces the time between gas detection and machine shutdown, enhancing safety by automating the emergency stop process and eliminating the need for a dedicated operator, thus improving overall site safety.
Abstract
Description
Description Title of the invention: Secure construction site installation The invention relates to a construction site installation, and more particularly to an installation comprising at least one transportable gas detection beacon and a construction site machine, in particular a thermal engine machine, for example with generator function. Here, we are particularly interested in an installation intended for a construction site organized in a so-called "ATEX" environment (abbreviation of "explosive atmosphere"). However, the invention is not limited to installations of this type. In an ATEX environment, flammable substances, particularly gaseous substances, may be mixed with the surrounding air and pose a risk of ignition or explosion. This risk is increased when the construction machine is in operation. This risk of explosion or ignition is further increased in the case of a thermal engine machine. This is the case, in particular, of certain machines with a generator function, such as compressors, which supply part of the site equipment with the air necessary for its operation, or generator sets, which do the same with electrical tools. These thermal machines, which act as generators, are generally transportable or even mobile and are brought to the site for the needs of the construction site. These machines are equipped with a manual emergency stop. In an ATEX environment, and more generally in any environment where the presence of certain gases represents a danger to personnel or equipment, it is customary to transport and install one or more gas detection beacons on the construction site. These are beacons capable of measuring the concentration of the gases in question in the surrounding air and emitting an alarm when this concentration exceeds a threshold value. Beacons of this type can be installed near areas where construction site operators operate, near thermal engine machines and / or where the presence of gas is most likely. When they hear an alarm, emitted by at least one of the site beacons, operators are instructed to immediately activate the emergency stop of thermal engine machines. In practice, operators most often work remotely from these machines, their tools being connected to them by sufficiently long cables or hoses. Once the alarm is heard, the operator still has to stop his tool, put it down and reach the thermal engine machine to activate the emergency stop. This results in a latency time, which affects the safety of the construction site in general, and that of the operators in particular. This latency time is further increased by the fact that the operator often wears noise-cancelling headphones and is concentrating on his work when the alarm sounds. This type of operation is not satisfactory. So much so that, on some construction sites, an operator is assigned solely to the task of monitoring the beacons and, if necessary, activating the emergency stop circuit of the machines. This approach requires the permanent presence of an operator at each thermal engine machine. In addition, there remains a latency time which can prove too significant, at least in certain situations. The Applicant sought to improve the situation. The proposed construction site installation comprises at least one gas detection beacon, the beacon comprising at least one external connector connected to an alarm contact and at least one construction site machine equipped with a manually operated emergency stop electrical circuit. The installation further comprises an interconnection device, connected to the external connector and coupled to the emergency stop electrical circuit. This interconnection device is arranged to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit, respectively, depending on a state of the alarm contact. The proposed installation remains transportable, just like the beacon and the thermal machine. The proposed installation has a simple and robust design, which allows it to be used on any type of construction site. It can be implemented with most existing transportable gas detection beacons and thermal engine machines. The beacon only needs to be equipped with an alarm report type connector or similar. The proposed installation significantly reduces the time between gas detection and machine shutdown. This shutdown is also automatic. An interconnection device for a construction site installation is also provided. The device plugs into an external connector connected to an alarm contact of a gas detection beacon and couples to the emergency stop circuit of a construction machine equipped with an electrical circuit for manual emergency stopping. The interconnection device is arranged to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit, respectively, depending on a state of the alarm contact. Further provided is a kit for forming such an interconnection device. The kit includes an interconnection circuit that couples to the emergency stop electrical circuit. The interconnection circuit has an input, and a connection removably connecting the external connector and the input of the interconnection circuit. An interconnection box is also available for a construction site installation. housing is capable of being connected to an external connector connected to an alarm contact of a gas detection beacon and to the manually operated emergency stop electrical circuit of a construction machine. The interconnection housing comprises an interconnection circuit arranged to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit, respectively, depending on a state of the alarm contact. A method for securing a construction site comprising at least one construction machine equipped with a manually operated emergency stop electrical circuit is also proposed. The method comprises providing at least one gas detection beacon comprising at least one external connector connected to an alarm contact, coupling an interconnection device to the emergency stop electrical circuit of the construction machine, and connecting this interconnection device to the external connector of the gas detection beacon. The interconnection device is arranged to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit, respectively, depending on a state of the alarm contact. Finally, a construction machine of the type comprising a manually operated emergency stop electrical circuit and an interconnection circuit coupled to the emergency stop electrical circuit is proposed. The interconnection circuit has an input, capable of being removably connected to the external connector connected to an alarm contact of a gas detection beacon. The circuit is arranged to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit, respectively, depending on a state of its input. Optional, complementary or substitutive features of the invention are set out below: - The interconnection device includes an interconnection circuit coupled to the emergency stop electrical circuit. Figures 1 to 3 show a construction machine with generator function, here in the form of a towable thermal compressor, or CTT 1 compressor, as is commonly used to supply compressed air to at least some of the tools used on the construction site, for example jackhammers. The CCT 1 compressor operates using a thermal engine. For safety purposes, the CTT 1 compressor typically includes a manual auxiliary control, capable of interrupting the operation of the CTT 1 compressor in an emergency. This control includes in particular an emergency stop pushbutton, or PAU 3 button, accessible from outside the CTT 1 compressor and recognizable by its mushroom shape and red color. [Fig.4] shows an example of an emergency stop circuit, or CAU 5 circuit, adapted to a thermal construction machine, such as the CTT 1 compressor in figures 1 to 3 for example. The CAU 5 circuit comprises a solenoid valve, or EV valve 7, through which the fuel flows to power the operation of the thermal machine, and a low-voltage generator, or BAT generator 9, here in the form of a storage battery, to the terminals of which the control of the EV valve 7 is connected. The BAT generator 9 is for example capable of delivering a voltage of 12 V. For example, the EV valve 7 is of the normally closed type: the EV valve 7 allows the passage of fuel when it is supplied with current by the BAT generator 9 and blocks this passage otherwise. The CAU 5 circuit further comprises a manual emergency switch, or switch AU 11, interposed between the EV 7 valve and the BAT 9 battery. The AU 11 switch is connected in series, between the EV 7 valve and the BAT 9 battery. The AU 11 switch generally takes the form of a push button, such as the PAU 3 button in [Fig. 2]. The AU 11 switch is arranged so as to open the CAU 5 circuit when actuated, which deprives the EV 7 valve control of current and closes the fuel flow. The CAU 5 circuit also includes a first fuse, or fuse F1 6, here mounted in series between the generator BAT 9 and the switch AU 11. For example, the fuse F1 6 is rated at 1A. Figures 2 and 5 show a transportable gas detection beacon, or DGT 13 beacon. As is known, the DGT 13 beacon is capable of detecting concentrations of one or more gases in the surrounding air and of emitting an alarm signal of at least one type when a threshold concentration value is exceeded. Typically, the DGT 13 beacon can be used in an explosive gas atmosphere, sometimes referred to as ATEX in reference to the regulations that apply to this type of atmosphere. The DGT 13 beacon can be installed on a construction site, near sensitive equipment. Sensitive equipment includes in particular machines with thermal or electric motors, particularly those with generator functions, such as the CTT 1 compressor in Figures 1 to 3, for example. Installing a beacon of the DGT 13 beacon type allows construction site operators to work in a safe environment. By way of example only, the DGT 13 beacon shown here is of the type known under the commercial reference BM 25 / 25W from the company OLDHAM (registered trademark). The DGT 13 beacon is equipped with a so-called relay output, comprising an alarm reporting connector, or RA 15 connector, connected to at least one alarm contact of the DGT 13 beacon. The RA 15 connector is provided so as to connect several beacons of the DGT 13 beacon type to each other, by means of a specific alarm reporting cable, in order to form a chain of beacons. Such a chain can be arranged so as to circumscribe an area of the site, inside which there are for example operators and / or one or more thermal machines. More generally, the beacons of the chain can be arranged in different places of interest of the site. Once the beacons are linked together, it is sufficient for one of these beacons to switch to an alarm state, following a gas detection, for all the beacons of the chain to switch to a similar state. Currently, to be able to use a thermal machine of the compressor type CTT 1 of figures 1 to 3 in a potentially explosive atmosphere, also described as explosive, it is generally required that one or more gas detection beacons, such as the DGT 13 beacon, be placed in the vicinity of this machine. If one of these beacons emits an alarm signal, then one of the site operators is instructed to activate the emergency stop button on the thermal machine. To avoid any latency in actuation, it is customary to dedicate one of the site operators to this task. Figures 2 and 3 show part of an interconnection device provided between the DGT beacon 13 and the CTT compressor 1. The part visible in this [Fig.2] mainly concerns an alarm reporting cable, or RA cable 17. One end of the RA cable 17 has a connector (not referenced) arranged to connect to the alarm reporting connector of the gas detection beacon, such as the RA connector 15 of [Fig.5]. The interconnection device further comprises a first auxiliary connector, or RX1 connector 19, attached to the CTT compressor 1, while the other end of the RA cable 17 has a second auxiliary connector, or RX2 connector 20, arranged to connect to the RX1 connector 19. The RX1 19 connector is installed on a part of the CTT 1 compressor that is accessible from the outside. Here, for example, the RX1 19 connector is installed through the body of the CTT 1 compressor, near the PAU 3 button of the CTT 1 compressor. As an example, [Fig.5] shows in detail the connector RA 15. The connector RA 15 comprises a first pair of pins 151, 156 each connected to a pole of an alarm contact, here of the NO (normally open) type, of the static relay of the DGT 13 beacon. In this example, the connector RA 15 further comprises a second pair of pins 153, 154 each connected to a pole of a fault contact, here of the NC (normally closed) type, of the static relay in question. [Fig.7] shows in particular an interconnection circuit, or CCX 21 circuit, adapted to an interconnection device between a gas detection beacon, of the DGT 13 beacon type for example, and a thermal construction machine, such as the CCT 1 compressor of [Fig.1] for example. In this [Fig.7], we recognize a manual emergency stop circuit of the type of the CAU 5 circuit of [Fig.4] (identical reference numbers are used to designate identical components). Also shown is an alarm reporting circuit, or CEXT 22 circuit, of a transportable gas detector, for example of the type of the DGT 13 beacon of figures 2 and 5. The CEXT 22 circuit comprises a contact 221, here of the NO type, whose state is representative of the alarm state of the detector. For example, when the detector is not in an alarm state, the contact 221 of the CEXT 22 circuit is open, while this contact 221 closes when the detector switches to an alarm state. The terminals of the contact 221 in question are respectively connected to two output terminals S1, S6 of the CEXT 22 circuit, corresponding to pins 151 and 156 of the RA 15 connector of [Fig.5] for example. The CCX 21 circuit comprises two input terminals, terminals E85 and E86 of [Fig. 7] for example. The input terminals E85 and E86 of the CCX21 circuit are connected, respectively, to the output terminals S1 and S6 of the CEXT 22 circuit, for example by means of a flexible cable, such as the RA 17 cable of Figures 2 and 3 for example. The CCX circuit 21 further comprises an auxiliary relay, or relay KA] 23, a control part 231 of which is intended to be connected on the one hand to one of the input terminals of the CCX circuit 21, here terminal E86, and, on the other hand, to one of the terminals of the BAT generator 9 (positive terminal here). Here, for example, one of the terminals of this control part 231 is connected to the CAU circuit 5, between the BAT generator 9 and the fuse F1 6. The other input of the CCX circuit 21, here terminal E85, is connected to the other terminal (negative terminal here) of the BAT generator 9. A switch part 233 of the auxiliary relay KA1 23 is mounted in the circuit CAU 5, so as to deprive the valve EV 7 of the current from the generator BAT 9 when the control part 231 is supplied. Here, the switch part 233 of the relay KA1 23 is mounted interposed between the solenoid valve EV 7 and the button AU 11. Here, the relay KA1 23 is of the normally closed (NC) type. A second fuse, or fuse F2 24, is interposed between the control part 231 of the relay KA1 23 and the generator BAT 9. For example, this fuse F2 24 is rated at one ampere. A control part of the CCX 21 circuit, including the control part 231 of the KA1 23 relay, connects to the terminals of the BAT 9 generator, in parallel with the rest of the CAU 5 circuit. An interruption part of the CCX 21 circuit connects to the CAU 5 circuit in series with the AU 11 switch. In [Fig.6], the RX1 connector 19 and the PAU button 3 of figures 2 and 3 are seen from inside the CTT compressor 1. In this figure, the RX1 connector is located a little above the PAU button. The PAU button has a first contact 190, with a first pair of terminals 191, 196, and a second contact 195, with a second pair of terminals 193, 194. One of the terminals 196 of the first contact 190 is connected, by a cable 100, to a solenoid valve through which the fuel flows which supplies the operation of the CTT compressor. This is, for example, the EV valve 7 of [Fig.7]. From the RX1 connector there are two cables (not visible here because they are housed in a sheath 200). These cables are capable of being connected to the terminals of an alarm reporting contact via a connector of the type of the RX2 connector connected to the RX1 connector and associated with a cable of the type of the RA 17 cable of figures 2 and 3. Concerning the pins in question, it may be, for example, the first pair of pins 151, 156 of [Fig.5]. One of these cables leads from the RX1 connector to the negative terminal of a low-voltage generator, such as the BÂT 9 generator in Figures 4 and 7, for example. The other leads from the RX1 connector to an electromechanical relay capable of cutting off the fuel supply, such as the KA1 relay 23 in [Fig.7] for example. In [Fig.8], we can see, inside the CCT compressor, an electrical terminal block 25 which is typically fitted to compressors of this type. Terminal block 25 has two terminals which allow connection to the terminals of a low voltage generator equipping the CCT compressor, such as the BAT 9 generator in Figures 4 and 8 in particular. Here, there is a first terminal 251, at the left end of terminal block 25, and a second terminal 252, at the right end, which are connected respectively to the minus terminal and the plus terminal of the generator. An electromechanical relay 27, of the KA| relay type, is attached to the CCT compressor, fixed near the terminal block 25. The control handle 28 of the damper, which is used to normally stop the CCT compressor 1, is also visible. A first cable 101 connects to the first terminal 251 of the terminal block 25 and leads to a connector of the RX1 connector type, for example the RX1 connector 19 visible in figures 2 and 3. This is one of the cables housed in sheath 200 of [Fig.6] for example. A second cable 102 is connected to the second terminal 252 of the terminal block 25 and leads to one of the terminals of an emergency stop contact, for example one of the terminals 193 of the second contact 195 of the PAU button of |Fig.6]. Terminal block 25 also has a third terminal 253, here the third from the left of terminal block 25, which allows connection to the compressor ignition switch CCT ("ignition switch” in English). A third cable 103 is connected to this third terminal 253 and leads to the emergency stop contact, for example to the other of the terminals 194 of the second contact 195 of the PAU button in [Fig.6]. A fourth cable 104 connects to the electromechanical relay 27 and leads to a terminal of an emergency stop contact, for example one of the terminals 191 of the first contact 190 of the PAU button in [Fig.6]. A fifth cable 105 connects the electromechanical relay 27 to a terminal of a connector intended to be connected to an alarm reporting contact, such as the RX1 connector 19 of [Fig. 3] for example. This is, for example, the second cable housed in the sheath 200 of [Fig. 6]. A sixth cable 106 connects the electromechanical relay 27 to the positive terminal of a low voltage generator, such as the BAT 9 generator in Figures 4 and 7 for example, via a fuse, such as the fuse F2 in [Fig.7] for example. A seventh cable 107 connects the electromechanical relay 27 to the solenoid valve CCT compressor fuel inlet valve, such as EV valve 7 in [Fig.7] for example. We have just described a device allowing the interconnection of a gas detection beacon, such as the DGT 13 beacon for example, and a thermal construction machine, such as the CTT 1 compressor for example. This device comprises an alarm reporting cable, here in the form of the RA 17 cable of Figures 2 and 3, arranged to connect to an external connector of the gas detection beacon which is connected to an alarm contact. The device also comprises an interconnection circuit, of the type of the CCX 21 circuit of [Fig. 7], coupled to an emergency stop circuit of the machine, such as the CAU 5 circuit of [Fig. 7], and connected to the alarm contact of the beacon via the alarm reporting cable. The interconnection circuit is arranged to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit depending on the state of the alarm contact. In the example described above, the CCX circuit is arranged to open the CAU circuit of the CCT compressor when the DGT beacon alarm contact closes, while opening the CAU circuit deprives the EV valve of power and causes it to close. Without departing from the scope of the invention, different arrangements of the CCX circuit are possible, in particular to adapt to the configuration of the emergency stop circuit of the thermal machine and / or to the alarm contact of the gas detection beacon. In the case, for example, of a CAU circuit equipped with a normally open EV valve and an AU switch arranged to close the CAU circuit when actuated, the CCX circuit is arranged to close the CAU circuit when the alarm contact of the DGT beacon closes. For example, the switch part of the KA1 relay is of the normally open type and is mounted in the CAU circuit in parallel with the AU switch. An interconnection device, and in particular a CCX circuit, has been described in the case of a normally open alarm contact of the DGT beacon. Without departing from the scope of the invention, the CCX circuit can be configured differently to adapt to a normally closed alarm contact. An interconnection device has been described comprising an alarm reporting cable, in particular of the type of cable RA 17 of figures 2 and 3, in order to connect the alarm reporting connector of the beacon to the input of the interconnection circuit. Connections of a different type can be envisaged, in particular based on a radio-frequency or optical transmitter / receiver. The proposed installation is not limited to transportable or stationary construction machinery. It is also applicable to mobile or mobile-type machinery (machines), including, for example, high-pressure cleaning trucks. pressure, vehicles, company or utility vehicles in particular, or even forklifts, when these machines are equipped with an emergency stop electrical circuit. For the invention, such a circuit may relate indifferently to the main thermal engine, useful for moving the machine, or any other thermal component equipping the machine, for example for lifting or generating high pressure. The gas detection beacon can be installed on the mobile machine. In this case, this beacon can itself be seen as mobile. The interconnection device can then comprise an alarm reporting cable, in particular of the type of cable RA 17 of figures 2 and 3, in order to connect the alarm reporting connector of the beacon to the input of the interconnection circuit. The gas detection beacon can also be fixed, installed on the site. It can be a beacon which is also part of an installation comprising one or more machines installed at a station. In this case, the connection between the input of the interconnection circuit which equips the mobile machine and the alarm reporting connector is preferably made by waves. When such mobile machines have to work in an ATEX or similar type zone, or simply to cross an area of this type, it is customary to add an attendant, called a "walker" in the art, equipped with a personal gas detector and responsible for activating the emergency stop of the machine if necessary. The invention makes it possible to do without a walker. An installation according to the invention has been described comprising a construction machine and a gas detection beacon. The invention also covers an installation comprising a construction machine interconnected with several gas detection beacons. In this case, the interconnection device is connected to the external connector of at least one of the beacons and is coupled with the stopping circuit of the machine. These beacons can be connected to each other, so as to form a chain, in particular when they are sufficiently close to each other. At least some of these beacons can also operate independently of the others, each of them being interconnected with the construction machine. This can be the case, for example, when these beacons are located quite far from the others. In this case, the connection between the input of the interconnection circuit and the alarm reporting connector is advantageously made by waves, for example by using the same frequency range for all the beacons. The invention also covers an installation comprising several construction site machines each interconnected with the same gas detection beacon. In this case, the interconnection device is connected to the external connector of the beacon and is coupled with the shutdown circuit of each machine. Each machine can be equipped with its own interconnection circuit. In this case, the connection between the input of the interconnection circuit and the alarm reporting connector can be made by waves, for example by using the same frequency for all the machines. The invention also covers an installation comprising several construction site machines and several gas detection beacons, and one or more interconnection devices connected to the external connector of at least some of these beacons and coupled to the emergency stop circuit of at least some of these machines. The invention can be expressed in the form of an interconnection box integrating a relay of the KA1 auxiliary relay type, a fuse of the F2 fuse type and capable of being connected on the one hand to the emergency stop circuit of a thermal machine so as to cut off the fuel supply and, on the other hand, to the external connector of a gas detection beacon. The invention can also be expressed in the form of a method for securing a construction site comprising at least one construction machine equipped with an emergency stop electrical circuit with manual actuation by means of at least one gas detection beacon comprising at least one external connector connected to an alarm contact. According to this method, an interconnection device is coupled to the emergency stop circuit of the construction machine, and this interconnection device is connected to the external connector of the gas detection beacon, the interconnection device being arranged so as to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit, respectively, depending on the state of the alarm contact. The invention is further expressed in the form of a construction machine comprising a manually actuated emergency stop electrical circuit and an interconnection circuit coupled to the emergency stop electrical circuit, the interconnection circuit having an input, capable of being removably connected to the external connector connected to an alarm contact of a gas detection beacon, the circuit being arranged to open or close the emergency stop electrical circuit, respectively, depending on the state of its input.
