Abstract

Liquid metal-filled tank with a decoupled sealing and mechanically resistant cap-lid, and an associated method for opening and closing the tank of a liquid metal-cooled fast neutron nuclear reactor. The invention relates to a removable closure device for a tank (10) filled with liquid metal, comprising: - a cap (12), removably fixed to the tank when closing it, by means of a flanged / counter-flange device assembled together by a detachable connection; - sealing means between the tank and the cap in its fixed position, including at least means for freezing the same liquid metal and maintaining the metal in a frozen state over at least a portion of the height of the annular space between the cap and the tank.
