MULTI-DEVICE LOCAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Abstract

The invention relates to a portable voice communication system comprising a single unit forming the central processing unit, a processing unit integrated within said unit, and at least one local communication interface for exchanging audio signals with a plurality of external audio devices. The processing unit is configured to simultaneously connect several external audio devices, receive an audio signal from one of the connected devices, and redistribute said signal to each of the other connected devices, according to a centralized local architecture. Audio exchanges are carried out exclusively via the local interfaces of the unit, without transmission of the streams to a wide area communication network.The system also includes internal identification means for assigning a distinct identifier to each connected external audio device, as well as associated indication means for the unit to represent the connection status of the devices and their voice activity. This architecture enables multi-user voice communication between potentially heterogeneous external audio devices without requiring a dedicated communication module on the devices themselves.
