Technological process of creating capsules for self-healing concrete based on agro-waste

Abstract

The technology for producing capsules for self-healing concrete from agro-waste is characterized by the use of organic matter, i.e. agro-waste that is easily available, as the core-carrier of the capsule. The carrier is first immersed in a prepared bacterial solution containing a bacterial strain and a nutrient for the bacteria. The absorption of the bacteria takes place at atmospheric pressure or reduced pressure, i.e. vacuum. The bacterial strain is such that the bacteria, when in contact with water, produce CaCO3 as a product. After absorbing the bacterial solution and drying, the carrier is placed in a cement paste that acts as a membrane and thus closes the capsule for self-healing concrete, and such a capsule is ready for mixing into the concrete mix.
