Heat exchanger for heat recovery ventilation systems

Abstract

A heat exchanger (1) for heat recovery ventilation systems has a quadrangular cross-section and longitudinal channels with a diamond cross-section, formed by interconnected plates (2), and is equipped with means for distributing flows of exhaust and intake air, wherein the body of the heat exchanger is notionally divided into a middle part (3) where the channels (4) of the heat exchanger are wave-shaped along the length thereof, and outer parts (5) in which the channels (6) of the heat exchanger which serve as the means for distributing exhaust and intake air are internally straight along the length thereof, have a zig-zag cross-section and are open, and the outer channels (7), which border on the two opposing side surfaces of the heat exchanger, and the end parts (8) of the channels of the heat exchanger are alternately open and sealed such that each group of open channels (7, 8) on one outer part of the heat exchanger is sealed on the opposite outer part of the heat exchanger, and wherein the body of the heat exchanger is disposed inside a casing (9) provided with longitudinal slots (11) that correspond to the size and position of the open channels (7, 8).
