Abstract

A vertical axis wind wheel system for energy production, which has at least one wind turbine and at least three blades arranged at equal angles between them. The blades have a concave surface and an opposite convex surface, and in the at least one wind wheel, the blades are arranged in a plane perpendicular to an axis (13), and the at least one wind wheel is rotatably supported about the vertical axis (13) and is located on top of a column (10) and / or a support rod (52).  The system comprises a device for converting the rotational energy of the rotated shaft (13) into another type of energy, wherein the blades (15, 16, 17; 59, 60, 61, 62) are oriented along the sides and along the extensions of the sides of a regular polygon which is arranged in said plane and surrounds the axis (13) as a centre line, wherein each side of said polygon has a length M and the convex side of each blade faces the interior of the polygon, and the inner end of each respective blade (15,16,17; 59, 60, 61, 62) extends at least to the bisector of the corresponding side of the polygon, and the total length (L) of the blades (15,16,17; 59, 60, 61, 62) is at least two and a half times the length (M) of the sides, namely L ? 2.5 M, wherein the number of sides of the polygon is at least three and at most six.
