Abstract

A scheduler that allocates resource grants on a slot-by-slot basis within an epoch or scheduling frame can create a front-loading effect where allocations occur more frequently in earlier slots within the frame. To address this and other issues, systems and methods are described for scheduling resource grants within a network to improve the network's transmission power profile. For example, a scheduler is configured to randomize the order of slots within an epoch or scheduling frame, with different randomizations for different schedulers, to more evenly distribute slots with resource grant allocations to prevent or mitigate front-loading effects. As another example, a scheduler is configured to randomize the start times of resource blocks within slots to prevent or mitigate front-loading effects.
