Abstract

The present invention is directed to a biphasic washing composition. The composition is substantially free of sulfate-based surfactants. The surfactants used include an anionic saccharide-based surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant, a zwitterionic surfactant, or both. The biphasic washing composition, upon agitation, produces a transient emulsion, namely a washing composition that delivers foaming and moisturizing benefits even when comprising as little as 30% by weight of oil.
