Abstract

This invention describes a modified RNA isolation method by combining three methods: the CTAB method, inubation at 55°C, and extraction with three chemicals. This modified method successfully obtained good-quality RNA from pepper leaf and seed samples, cardamom leaf samples, karuk, and Javanese chili. RT-PCR detection successfully identified several RNA viruses from these samples, proving the good quality of RNA obtained. The modified RNA isolation method described can be used to overcome the failure of RNA isolation in plant samples with high secondary metabolite content.
