Abstract
The present invention relates to a topical nanoemulgel composition containing green tea (Camellia sinensis L.) leaf extract and formulated using a nonionic surfactant–co-surfactant system based on Tween 80 and PEG 400. This composition is designed to stabilize a mixture of polyphenols with different solubility characteristics (hydrophilic and lipophilic) in a single semi-solid preparation, without requiring chemical modification of the active ingredients. The nanoemulsion is formed by combining the oil and water phases followed by homogenization and mechanical energy treatment to produce nano-sized droplets, which are then integrated into a sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC) gel base to obtain a homogeneous preparation with viscosity characteristics and application properties suitable for topical use. The surfactant–co-surfactant system allows the formation and maintenance of nano-droplet stability after integration into the gel matrix.The present invention provides a simple, reproducible, and potentially scalable manufacturing process that produces nanoemulgels that are physicochemically stable under varying storage and environmental conditions. The disclosed compositions and process provide a formulation platform for the development of natural extract-based topical products requiring consistent formulation stability and performance.
