Abstract

Abstract Nanostructured Lipid Carrier Composition Containing a Combination of Syzygium Polyanthum and Curcuma longa Extracts as a Gel Preparation for Diabetic Wound Healing This invention relates to the pharmaceutical field, specifically the formulation of nanotechnology-based topical preparations for diabetic wound healing. The invention is in the form of a Nanostructured Lipid Carrier (NLC) composition containing a combination of bay leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum) and turmeric extract (Curcuma longa) formulated in gel form. The NLC composition consists of bay leaf extract, turmeric extract, solid lipid in the form of Precirol® ATO 5, liquid lipid in the form of Myritol® 318, and surfactant in the form of Cremophor® RH40 which are then incorporated into a gel base containing Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC).In a preferred embodiment, the NLC composition contains 0.22% bay leaf extract, 0.15% turmeric extract, 6.75% Precirol® ATO 5, 1% Myritol® 318, and 4.5% Cremophor® RH40, and is used in 10 mL in a 2% HPMC gel base. The combination of extracts in the NLC system produces a gel preparation with good stability, increases penetration and release of active compounds, and is effective for accelerating the healing process of diabetic wounds.
