Abstract

This invention relates to a portable multi-layer air filter device designed to reduce ammonia gas in a poultry house environment. This device utilizes chicken feather waste processed into keratin powder as the main adsorbent media which is environmentally friendly and economical. The structure of the device consists of a main frame in which therein are sequentially arranged mechanical filter layers made of mesh to filter dust particles and feathers, followed by an air push unit, two adsorbent layers in the form of porous cartridges containing keratin powder, and an air intake unit. The configuration of the push and air intake units sandwiching the adsorbent layers results in increased adsorption efficiency by controlling the air flow and optimizing the contact time between the ammonia gas and the keratin media.With this arrangement, this device is able to significantly increase the adsorption efficiency of ammonia gas compared to conventional filtration systems, based on direct testing in the cage proving an efficiency of 75.4% and providing a practical, portable, and low-cost solution to improve air quality in small to medium-scale poultry farms.
