Abstract
Description
[0001] Aerodynamically stabilized probe for remote electroshock weapon
[0002] Field of technology to which the invention relates
[0003] The invention relates to probes (projectiles) of remote electroshock weapons (REW) and can be used in non-lethal remote electroshock weapons for law enforcement agencies and citizens.
[0004] State of the art
[0005] The DEShO projectile is known according to the patent [1]. The projectile has a weighting head with a needle, having a barb and a flexible (easily deformed when the projectile is fired upon impact with the target (offender, biological target, biotarget) shell, protecting the current-carrying conductor laid in its internal cavity, i.e. the pressed single-layer frameless coil of the current-carrying conductor, which after pressing forms a dense shape in the form of a three-dimensional figure from spiral turns sequentially placed relative to the longitudinal axis of the hollow shell, the plane of which is perpendicular to this axis, from loss of disintegration (loss of the dense shape of the current-carrying conductor laying). The shell, as a rule, is made of paper with an adhesive surface facing the current-carrying conductor laying and additionally holding it from disintegration. When fired from the DEShO, the deformable shell with the current-carrying conductor pressed inside it flies out of the firing part of the DEShO.In this case, the end of the current lead, fixed on the firing part of the DEShO, pulls the current lead out of the shell. During the projectile flight, the current lead is pulled out of the shell until the projectile hits the target and is fixed to the target using the probe-to-target fixing device (a barbed needle). The disadvantage of the projectile is its relatively low accuracy resulting from the destabilizing aerodynamic air flow around the probe in flight due to the probe precession as a result of complex oscillation processes with rotation when pulling the current lead out of the probe cavity through the rear opening in the shell with precession aggravated by the influence of the flat shape of the head part (which is an aerodynamic surface) changing the angle in the oncoming air flow during flight and the subsequent influence of flow oscillations from this surface on the yaw and pitch of the probe in flight.
[0006] Another disadvantage of the projectile is the small amount of current lead placed in it due to the fact that the coefficient of useful filling of the shell with current lead pressed from a single-layer frameless coil is no more than 0.8 [2], and in fact, according to the results of serial production experience of JSC "RTECH-NO" it is even less. This disadvantage is further aggravated by the fact that the needle with a barb makes up 0.22 of the total length of the probe, thus reducing the volume of current lead placement possible for a given probe length with its maximum diameter (by 22%) and, accordingly, reducing the length of current lead pulled out of it possible for a given probe volume, i.e. the firing range.
[0007] A probe is known according to a patent [3], consisting of a metal hollow shell (shell) with a metal weighting head with a pressed-in barbed needle permanently connected to it. Inside the shell there is a current lead laid in layers, turn by turn. One end of the current lead is fixed to the firing part of the DEShO and initially comes out during the probe's flight to the target from the hole formed by the first lower layer of the multilayer laying, and the other end of the current lead from the last upper layer of the multilayer laying is attached to the head. When the DEShO is fired, the hollow shell with the current lead flies out of the firing part of the DEShO. In this case, the end of the current lead, fixed to the firing part of the DEShO, pulls out the current lead located in the hollow shell through the release washer crimped on the rear end of the shell. During the flight of the projectile, the current lead is pulled out of the shell through the release washer until the projectile hits the target and is secured to the target. The advantage of the probe is the increased amount (length of the deployed) of the conductive wire compared to the analogue [1] as a result of using a multilayer laying having a coefficient of useful filling of the shell with the conductive wire of more than 0.90-0.92 with varying diameter of the laying wire. The disadvantage of the probe is that due to the complexity of the design, the probe has significant geometric dimensions and, accordingly, a large area of aerodynamic resistance due to the large diameter of the probe (Ф13.0 mm), due to which the probe quickly loses speed on the trajectory and requires increased initial speeds to hit the target at maximum distances determined by the length of the conductive wire laid inside. In addition, the current lead laid inside the probe comes out through the hole of the outlet washer of a smaller diameter than the inner diameter of the probe shell, and this increases friction (reformation with bending of the current lead during the pulling process) and, accordingly, the force of pulling the current lead out of the probe cavity, and the pulling force increases as it is pulled out due to the need for bending reformation of the current lead from a large diameter to a small one, which requires compensation again by increasing the initial velocity of the probe. The increased initial velocity of the probe with a large impulse due to the large mass of the probe made almost entirely of metal with a large diameter (i.e., and weight) of the shell always increases the trauma when hitting a target at short shooting distances (for example, shooting almost point-blank).Another disadvantage of the probe is that its design consists of at least three labor-intensive parts, a metal shell (shell) with a head rolled into it with a needle with a barb pressed into it and a release washer rolled into the shell. The parts must be manufactured with high precision for rolling or using high-tech micro-operations of assembly. Due to the required manufacturing accuracy and high-tech operations using expensive equipment and highly qualified American specialists, the final price of the projectile is unreasonably high. The firing part of the DEShO from Axon Enterprise Inc with probes of this design costs 70-85 US dollars.Another disadvantage of the probe is the relatively low accuracy resulting from precession as a result of complex processes of oscillations with rotation when pulling the current conductor out of the probe cavity through the outlet washer and the aggravation of precession by the influence of the flat shape of the head part (which is an aerodynamic surface) changing the angle in the oncoming air flow during flight and the subsequent influence of oscillations of flows from this surface on the yaw and pitch of the probe in flight.
[0008] The Kmka-Hebler Bullet [4] tubular bullets (projectiles) for rifled weapons are known, numerous studies and publications on the possibilities of using tubular bullets are known, for example [5]. The bullets consist of a cylindrical body in the form of a tube with one or another profile of the outer and inner forming surface. The described tubular bullets studied for military applications have significant ballistic advantages at the supersonic speeds of interest to military personnel, for example, increased direct fire range compared to bullets and projectiles of classical designs, armor penetration with increased armor bite. The Mayer bullet of the so-called arrow-turbine type for smoothbore weapons is known, which is a body composed of cylinders of larger and smaller diameters, with weakly expressed obliquely arranged feathering blades on the cylinder of smaller diameter with a through channel of decreasing conical section from the head part with obliquely arranged blades protrusions on the generatrix surface of the channel. [6]. The Mayer bullet has outstanding ballistic qualities for bullets intended for smoothbore weapons according to the accuracy criterion, but only when used at subsonic and maximum transonic speeds, since it was designated by A.K. Mayer for use on charges of black powder or slow-burning smokeless powders at low muzzle pressures. When Mayer bullets fly at sonic and supersonic speeds, the incorrectly chosen shape of the channel and the input edge cause throttling of the supersonic flow passing through the channel, an increase in aerodynamic resistance and destabilization of the bullet. Studies of the Mayer bullet (high-speed film and photography) have shown that the Mayer bullet does not rotate in flight as intended by the author of the bullet, organizing obliquely positioned external and internal blades. Better stabilization of the Mayer bullet than the stabilization of other designs of short (as opposed to long lancet bullets with attached wads and obturators) lancet bullets occurs due to the complex interaction of external and internal air flows reducing the components of aerodynamic resistance arising during the flight of the bullet mainly at subsonic speeds. The Mayer bullet, due to its tubular component, also had lower aerodynamic drag at subsonic speeds than bullets for smoothbore weapons of other designs, a slower deceleration of speed along the trajectory and, consequently, a higher final kinetic energy. The use of tubular projectiles for stabilizing projectiles other than for combat or hunting weapons is unknown from the state of the art.
[0009] The prototype of the proposed invention is the DEShO projectile according to patent [7], which has an elastic or easily deformable shell with a current-carrying conductor laid in the form of a multilayer frameless coil with a current-carrying conductor laid in layers, turn by turn. One end of the current-carrying conductor is fixed to the firing part of the DEShO and comes out of the hole formed by the first lower layer of the laying during the probe's flight to the target, and the other end of the current-carrying conductor is fixed to the front end of the shell or to the device for fixing on the target, and comes out of the last upper layer of the laying.
[0010] The advantage of the prototype is the increased quantity (maximum length extended to the target) of the current lead as compared to the analogue [1] as a result of using a multilayer packing having a coefficient of effective filling of the shell with the current lead of 0.90-0.92. The advantage of the prototype as compared to the analogue [3] is the low traumaticity due to the lower required initial velocity due to the low aerodynamic drag due to the small diameter (7.0-8.0 mm.), as well as due to the absence of an outlet washer with a small diameter of the current lead outlet and low energy losses for reformation with bending of the current lead during the process of pulling out of the projectile cavity, and the low cost and simple manufacturability of the projectile. The main disadvantage of the projectile is low accuracy since its warhead has a low weight, as a result of which its aerodynamic stabilization due to the location of the center of gravity in front of the center of resistance is insufficient. Moreover, its accuracy is already low, since, just like in analogs [1;3], the projectile has precession as a result of complex processes of oscillation with rotation when the current conductor is pulled out of the probe cavity through the rear opening in the shell, with the precession being aggravated by the influence of the predominantly flat or implicitly rounded shape of the head part (which is an aerodynamic surface) changing the angle in the oncoming air flow during flight and the subsequent influence of oscillations of flows from this surface on the yaw and pitch of the probe during flight.
[0011] Disclosure of invention
[0012] The technical problem of the impossibility of increasing the accuracy of firing with a probe prototype is solved by the claimed invention.
[0013] The technical result consists in increasing the accuracy of probe hits on the target during shooting, which reduces serious injuries to offenders when shots by probes that deviate randomly from the direction set by the user of the DEShO hit the arteries and veins of the neck and face, eyes, or head (which causes a generalized epileptic seizure with corresponding injuries and consequences, including those incompatible with life).
[0014] The stated objective is achieved in that the stabilized probe of a remote electroshock weapon contains a conductive or non-conductive non-deformable or elastic shell with a device for securing to a target in the form of at least one barbed needle, with a current-carrying conductor laid inside it in the form of a multilayer frameless coil with a current-carrying conductor laid in layers turn by turn with one end of the current-carrying conductor secured to the firing part of the remote electroshock weapon and emerging during the probe's flight to the target from an opening formed by the first lower layer of the laying, and the other end of the current-carrying conductor emerging from the last upper layer of the laying and located near or secured to the front end of the shell or the device for securing to a target, characterized in that it has a weighting head made of high-density metals, made in the form of a tubular shell, on which at least one device for securing to a target is radially secured, and the end of the current-carrying conductor emerging from the last top layer of the installation, fixed to the shell or head or located near the head.,
[0015] An additional feature is that the probe with a non-conductive sheath has a conductive insert, sticker or coating on the outside or inside of the forming sheath connecting the front and rear ends of the probe.
[0016] An additional feature is that the probe has one barbed needle fixed in the head at an angle to the axis of the shell. Brief description of the drawings

[0018] Fig. 2. Probe with conductive coating and inclined needle.
[0019] Implementation of the invention
[0020] Fig. 1. The probe to be stabilized has a shell 1, a multilayer packing 2 of a current lead 3, a tubular weighting head 4, and a device for securing to a target in the form of one or more barbed needles 5 located in the head. A through channel 6 is formed in the head 4, preferably having an input cone 7, and a channel 8 is provided along the axis of the probe and the packing. Channel 8 in this type of packing is intended for free pulling out of the current lead 3 from the packing during the probe's flight to the target. The use of one or more needles depends on the diameter and length of the needle (i.e., the weight of the needle); with a needle of small weight, one needle mounted on the circumference of the tubular shell of the weighting head 4 can be used; with a needle of greater weight, it is preferable to install two needles located symmetrically relative to the probe axis in order to eliminate the possibility of disruption of the radial balance with subsequent beatings of the weighting head with additional precession. In Fig. 1 shows a probe with two needles 5.Additional stabilization of the DEShO probe thrown from the smooth barrel of the DEShO firing cartridges in flight relative to the stabilization of the probes of analogs and the prototype is achieved due to complex aerodynamic interactions from the air running onto the head part of the probe at subsonic probe flight speeds of 40-60 m / s, the passage of an air stream through a through channel 6 and a channel 8 expanding as the probe flies and the current lead 3 is pulled out of it. Thus, in the proposed invention, conditions are provided for the passage of an air flow through the probe body as in a tubular projectile. The air stream coming out of the rear end of the probe interacts with the air flow flowing around the probe with the centering of the probe in the oncoming flow. The probe can have both a conductive rigid (for example, a thin-walled metal tube) and a non-conductive elastic (for example, a heat-shrinkable polymer tube, paper or polymer adhesive tape film).
[0021] Fig. 2. In case of using a non-conductive shell in some designs of the ESD (ESD with high-voltage initiation of propellant charges [8]), in order to initiate the propellant charge of the probes, it is necessary that the probe head and the rear end of the shell shell have a galvanic connection. In this case, in the claimed invention, a conductive coating 9 (metallic spraying or metallized conductive paint) is applied to the non-conductive shell 1 from the outside or inside of its generatrix, or a conductive metal copper or aluminum foil is glued. The conductive coating or foil connects the conductive head with the rear end of the probe shell to organize the possibility of high-voltage initiation of the probe propellant charge. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the needle 5 with a barb in the head of the weighting agent 10 is fixed at an angle to the axis of the shell 1.This design of needle fixing improves centering by reducing the beating of the weight head with additional precession when using only one needle compared to installing only one needle parallel to the probe axis instead of two as in Fig. 1.
