Claims
1. - .32 . O..... Oi ., . i o V f Λ7 While the present invention has been described with reference to many particular details thereof, these details are not to be construed as limiting the scope of the present invention. CLAIMS 1. A nonaqueous adhesive comprising an ionically conducting electrolyte-cathode solution comprising a solute dissolved in an active liquid cathode; an anode of an active metal; a cathode collector; a separator disposed between the anode and the cathode collector; or wherein at least a portion of the surface of the separator is coated with a film of a vinyl polymer.
2. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1 wherein the vinyl polymer is selected from the group consisting of homopolymers of vinyl chloride or vinyl chloride, and copolymers containing vinyl chloride or vinyl chloride having at least one oxypolymerised monomer selected from the group consisting of vinyl esters, dibasic acids, dibasic acid diesters, and dibasic acid monoesters.
3. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1 wherein the vinyl polymer is selected from the group consisting of vinyl chloride / vinyl acetate copolymers, vinyl chloride / vinyl acetate / dibasic acid copolymers, and vinyl chloride homolopimers.
4. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1, 2, or 3 wherein the amount of vinyl polymer film on the separator is from about 0.7 grams to about 3.5 grams per square meter of projected unifacial area.
5. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1, 2, or 3 wherein the amount of vinyl polymer film on the separator is from about 1.5 grams per square meter to 1.8 grams per square meter of projected unifacial area.
6. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1, 2, or 3 wherein the cathode electrolyte contains a product selected from the group consisting of lithium sulfide and sulfur monochloride and mixtures thereof.
7. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein the cathode electrolyte contains at least one liquid oxyhalide selected from the group consisting of thionyl chloride, sulfuryl chloride, phosphorus oxychloride, thionyl bromide, chromyl chloride, vanadyl tribromide and selenium oxychloride.
8. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 7 wherein at least one liquid oxyhalide is selected from the group consisting of thionyl chloride and sulfuryl chloride.
9. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1, 2, or 3 wherein the anode is selected from the group consisting of lithium, sodium, potassium, and aluminum.
10. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 7 wherein the electrolyte-cathode contains an inorganic o-solvent.
11. A non-aqueous glue as claimed in claim 7 wherein the electrolyte-cathode contains an organic co-solvent.
12. A non-aqueous glue as claimed in claim 7 wherein the anode is lithium or the liquid oxyhalide is dithionyl chloride.
13. A non-aqueous glue as claimed in claim 7 wherein the anode is lithium or the liquid oxyhalide is dithionyl chloride.
14. A non-aqueous cell as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein the solute is a complex salt of a Lewis acid and an inorganic ionizable salt. The Authorized Representative
