TITLE High temperature mould for heat treatment and sintering of various products with vessel equipped with flange ESTATE 12ÌÌRH 93 L. SUMMARY A high temperature furnace comprises, as its main component, a cup-shaped quartz vessel (14) with a domed cover section (20) and a wide flange (14') at its open end. A heating coil (15) applied to the vessel, thermal insulation means (16, 21) and thermal measuring means' indicating the temperature inside the vessel are provided. A tube (17) leading to the outside is also provided which can be used to determine a vacuum or an atmosphere of any gas or gas mixture in the vessel. A base (12) is also provided through which a work table (11) can be raised or lowered. The flange (14') of the vessel rests on O-rings (13) which form hermetic seals and are not subjected to excessive temperature due to the width of the vessel flange. (Fig. 1) FIG 1 OFF. TECH. IKG. A. MANNUCCI uGQ046f12finn93 - INDIG Baruch in TEL AVIV (Israel) «HIGH TEMPERATURE FURNACE FOR HEAT TREATMENT AND FOR THE SINTERING OF VARIOUS PRODUCTS WITH CONTAINER EQUIPPED WITH SEALING FLANGE» DESCRIPTION The invention relates to a new type of furnace useful for the heat treatment of various materials in a controlled atmosphere. These furnaces are particularly suitable for heat treatment in an inert atmosphere. One of the preferred applications is the production of dental products such as crowns, bridges, and the like, and especially for the production of products derived from starting materials that must be sintered in an inert atmosphere. Various types of furnaces are known, including those specifically designed for use in the production of dental products. One problem is the need to provide a suitable atmosphere. Another issue is thermal conductivity. A specific type of furnace is described in Israeli patent No. 79109, which corresponds to U.S. patent No. 4,828,490. The present invention eliminates several drawbacks of existing ovens. TECHNICAL OFFICE. ENGINEERING. À. IMHHIÌCCI processing, suitable for the high-temperature treatment of various products and articles, as well as for the production of articles by sintering. The furnace allows the active volume of the furnace to be operated in an inert atmosphere or under vacuum. The furnace is based on the use of a transparent or translucent flanged, cup-shaped inner vessel, connected with means for establishing a vacuum or an inert gaseous atmosphere, which is equipped with an external resistance wire winding for controlled heating of the interior of the vessel. Means are provided for introducing a workpiece into the vessel, supported by a movable table. Insulating means capable of providing effective thermal insulation and means of thermal measurement are also provided. The use of ceramic fibers as thermal insulation is particularly suitable.Particularly advantageous results have been obtained with a model using an inverted, flanged, quartz vessel, provided with an inlet for a flow of inert gas (or gas mixture) or for evacuating the interior of said vessel, and with a further connection to the outside for use with temperature measuring devices such as, for example, a thermocouple or similar. The said container is surrounded by a suitable layer TECHNICAL OFFICE ENGINEERING A. MOCCI thermal insulation, such as a layer of chamotte, ceramic fibers, or similar. The vessel is supported by a suitable support and hermetically sealed, if necessary, with a silicone O-ring. A work table is provided that can be lowered or raised to enter the vessel. This can also be made of ceramic fiber. The invention is described, for illustration purposes only, with reference to the attached schematic drawing, which is not to scale and which represents a sectional view of a furnace according to the invention (Fig. 1). As shown in Fig. 1, the furnace comprises a support table 11 made of a ceramic fibre block and which is supported by the metal base 12. This support is provided with a gasket, a silicone O-ring 13, on which rests the lower flange of the inverted cup-shaped quartz vessel 14, on which a winding 15 of resistance wire is provided which is in turn surrounded by ceramic fibre thermal insulation 16. The said cup-shaped vessel is provided with an inlet tube 18 which serves for the insertion of a thermocouple or similar. This tube is fixed to the OFFICE. TFCN. ING. A. MANNUCCI curved upper part of the said container. An additional inlet tube 17 is provided which passes through the lower part of the device, under the O-ring 13, and which is in communication with the interior of the vessel 14, and through which this vessel can be evacuated or flushed with an inert gas, and thus an inert atmosphere can be provided in the vessel 14. A very important feature of the present invention is that the vessel 14 is provided with a wide flange 14'; only a flange of this width allows for adequate thermal separation between the heated cup-shaped portion of the vessel 14 and said flange, so that this flange (edge) does not reach excessively high temperatures, thereby making it possible to use an O-ring 13 to hermetically seal the interior of the vessel. When the tube 17 is connected to a vacuum-producing means, a hermetic seal is established between the flange of the vessel 14 and the support base 12. The heating coil 15 is connected to a variable power supply, thereby allowing precise control of the temperature which is sensed by the thermocouple 19. One of the main advantages of the present invention is the use of the bell 15. TECHNICAL OFFICE ENGINEER A. MANNUCC! quartz Mangiata, the flange 14' of which extends from the heated body of said vessel 14 for a distance sufficient to maintain it at a contained temperature allowing the use of the O-ring 13. Means (not shown) are provided for raising and lowering the support table 11, which is used to support the workpiece. A furnace was constructed with a vessel approximately 95 liters in internal diameter, approximately 100 mm high, and a curved cover, with a wall thickness of approximately 1.5 mm. The furnace was tested with material requiring sintering at a temperature between approximately 300 and 1150 °C for a period of approximately 30 minutes. The treatment was carried out in an argon atmosphere created by two internal argon flushes and an intermediate evacuation. The temperature could be maintained at a desired value with variations in the order of 1 to 3 degrees. TECHNICAL OFFICE ENGINEER A. MANNUCCI
