Abstract

This product is a vertical drain cover for painting apartment buildings, designed to prevent accidents where, during painting work, the balcony floor and open corridor floor drain area is covered with plastic sheeting to protect areas that should not be stained with paint, or where small holes are made in the plastic sheeting covering the drain area, and then, when a sudden downpour occurs, the balcony and open corridor become like a pool, overflowing the sliding glass doors or entrance door frames of the upper floor, onto the interior floor, seeping through to the ceiling of the lower floor, and causing a serious situation. Currently, many such leak accidents occur throughout the country. This is because, during painting work, paint mist is scattered from spray and roller application, so people try to protect as much as possible with plastic sheeting to prevent paint stains. However, they also think it is bad to leave the drain covered. However, the dilemma remains: if a hole is made in the vinyl, the drain area will become stained with paint. This can lead to water leaks. This product is larger than the vertical drain opening and has a five-sided structure without a floor surface, but there is a round hole of about 120Φ near the center of the top surface, and the top and bottom sides are cut from the edge of this round hole, so even if there is a vertical drain pipe, it can be widened diagonally at the cut section to fit it in. It has a double structure of outer and inner walls, and the openings of the outer and inner walls are arranged alternately, with the outer wall touching the floor surface but the inner wall not touching the floor surface, floating a few centimeters above the floor. With this structure, after being set up over the drain, paint mist from painting work does not reach the drain opening. In an actual test, we set this product on top of a 100Φ drain opening, put paint in a spray bottle, and reproduced the paint mist by spraying it from directly above, at an angle of 45 degrees, and at an angle of about 25 degrees. As a result, when the drain cover was removed, the water had stopped entering at a depth of about 10 mm. This is a vertical drain cover for painting that stops the water from entering within the area of the plastic sheeting in front, and even in the case of sudden heavy rain, rainwater continues to drain from the drain. To actually test this, we set the item on top of a 100Φ drain and used an engine-driven commercial high-pressure washer to spray water at a rate of 13 liters per minute, simulating heavy rain.As a result, no water accumulated at all, and the water flowed smoothly into the drain. Even if the lower wall opening were to become blocked by fallen leaves or other debris, a horizontal opening is provided above it to ensure overflow, and the canopy above the horizontal opening prevents paint mist from entering the entire opening (including the horizontal opening overflow) from diagonally above. Finally, to set it up, the vertical drain pipe is covered with plastic sheeting, the floor is also covered with plastic sheeting, the plastic is cut just before the drain, the ends of the plastic are tightly sealed with duct tape to expose only the opening, then the cut part of the item is spread diagonally and fitted to avoid the vertical drain pipe, tape is applied to the cut, and finally the gap between the vertical drain pipe and the drain cover is sealed with tape to complete the setup. *Overall impression Unless there is an extremely strong wind, it was confirmed that paint mist will not enter due to the staggered wall structure. It was confirmed that the water flowed regardless of whether the walls were staggered, and was sucked into the drain.
