Abstract

The present invention provides a cholesteric liquid crystal composition exhibiting warm hues. [Solution] A cholesteric liquid crystal composition containing the following components (A) to (C) is used. (A) One or more sterols selected from cholesterol, dihydrocholesterol, lanosterol, dihydrolanosterol, desmosterol, stigmasterol, sitosterol, campesterol, brassicasterol, phytosterol, ergosterol, and γ-oryzanol (B) Two or more sterol esters, one or more selected from each of at least two groups B1 to B3 below. Group B1: Esters of fatty acids selected from acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, and valeric acid with sterols. Group B2: Esters of fatty acids selected from caprylic acid, nonanoic acid, capric acid, and lauric acid with sterols. Group B3: Esters of fatty acids selected from palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, isostearic acid, and 12-hydroxystearic acid with sterols, and cholesteryl oleyl carbonate. Claims

1. A cholesteric liquid crystal composition containing the following components (A) to (C) and exhibiting a warm hue. (A) One or more sterols selected from cholesterol, dihydrocholesterol, lanosterol, dihydrolanosterol, desmosterol, stigmasterol, sitosterol, campesterol, brassicasterol, phytosterol, ergosterol, and γ-oryzanol (B) Two or more sterol esters, one or more selected from each of at least two of the following groups B1 to B3. Group B1: Esterilized compounds of fatty acids selected from acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, and valeric acid with sterols. Group B2: Esterilized compounds of fatty acids selected from caprylic acid, nonanoic acid, capric acid, and lauric acid with sterols. Group B3: Esters of fatty acids selected from palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, isostearic acid, and 12-hydroxystearic acid with sterols, and cholesteryl oleyl carbonates. (C) Esterilized product of succinic acid and sterol

2. The cholesteric liquid crystal composition according to claim 1, characterized in that component (A) is selected from cholesterol, dihydrocholesterol, and phytosterol.

The cholesteric liquid crystal composition according to claim 1, wherein group B1 is an ester of butyric acid and sterol, group B2 is an ester of nonanoic acid and sterol, and group B3 is an ester of a fatty acid selected from oleic acid and isostearic acid and sterol, as well as cholesteryl oleyl carbonate.

4. The cholesteric liquid crystal composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the sterol used in the production of components (B) and (C) is selected from cholesterol, dihydrocholesterol, and phytosterol.

5. The cholesteric liquid crystal composition according to any one of claims 1 to 4, further comprising one or more selected from dextrin fatty acid esters and inulin fatty acid esters as component (D).

6. A cosmetic composition containing the cholesteric liquid crystal composition according to any one of claims 1 to 4.

7. A cosmetic composition containing the cholesteric liquid crystal composition described in claim 5.
