Abstract

Heavy rains are causing frequent house flooding. To prepare for this, we are offering shoe boxes from the entrance of every home that can be repurposed as escape boats. However, we believe that appealing to families who think that they don't need to prepare for a flood that occurs only once every few decades is a challenge, so we are adding the benefit of being able to enjoy leisure boating on the sea or lakes. [Method to solve the problem] First, a shoe box is made from hardwood in the shape of a boat. A shelf is attached to the inside of the hinged door that covers it, and shoes are stored on the shelf. The shoe box will not accumulate moisture due to the daily opening and closing of the door (Figure 1). If, unfortunately, the entrance is flooded, the door will come off with the shoes, and the shoe box will instantly become an escape boat (Figure 5). People and valuables can be loaded onto the boat and pushed or rowed to safety (Figure 7). If you have two of these short shoe boxes, they can be used for leisure. Load two of them into a minivan and go to the sea or lake, connect the bases of the two boxes with a connector to make a series-connected boat (Figure 9), and the family can enjoy rowing together.
