Abstract
The surgical visualization can compensate for obstructed, incomplete, damaged, or interfered portions of a captured image by replacing these portions with corresponding portions of another image. The other images can include images previously generated by the surgical visualization system or images generated using multispectral imaging techniques. The present disclosure relates to a surgical imaging system including: a multispectral EMR source configured to emit electromagnetic radiation (EMR) in a first wavelength range and a second wavelength range; an image sensor configured to sense EMR in each of the first wavelength range and the second wavelength range reflected from a target site; and control circuitry coupled to the image sensor configured to: generate a first image of the target site according to the EMR emitted in the first wavelength range; generate a second image of the target site according to the light emitted in the second wavelength range; determine whether the first image is at least partially obstructed; and generate a fused image including a fusion between unobstructed segments of the first image and segments of the second image corresponding to the obstructed segments of the first image. Alternatively, the control circuitry is configured to generate an image of the target region according to the emitted EMR, determine whether the image is at least partially occluded, retrieve a previous image of the target region, and generate a fused image including a fusion between unoccluded segments of the image and segments of the previous image corresponding to occluded segments of the image.
