Abstract
A multi-step process for producing an engineered banana pseudostem biomaterial platform is disclosed. The process comprises degumming banana pseudostem fibre using sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate, neutralization using acetic acid, crosslinking using a four-component system comprising citric acid, sodium hexametaphosphate, glycine, and sodium hypophosphite catalyst at a pH of3.2 to 3.7 followed by curing at 145°C to 155
