Technology Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a method and system for providing a newsletter-based advertising service for foreigners residing in Korea. Background Technology
[0002] Positive evaluations of Korean cultural content are represented by the concept of the Korean Wave. As the flow of the Korean Wave evolves into the form of K-Content, it is now reflected in a diverse range of cultural content, including K-Pop, K-Drama, and K-Food. Changes in government policy also demonstrate shifts in the concept and scope of the Korean Wave. According to the implementation plan for the New Korean Wave promotion policy released jointly by relevant government ministries, the evolution of the Korean Wave is divided into four periods. The current era is classified as the New Korean Wave (K-Culture) period, with key characteristics identified as the diversification of the Korean Wave, online-based globalization, the integration of Korean culture with related industries, and customized access for global citizens. In particular, the Korean Wave phenomenon surrounding K-Pop is characterized by audiences acting as "Performative Cultural Translators," directly participating in the flow of cultural translation and driving cross-cultural decoding.
[0003] Following this trend, the number of foreigners residing in Korea is gradually increasing, and the number of foreigners residing in Korea for the long term for reasons such as studying or employment, as well as those planning to do so, is on the rise.
[0004] For these individuals, newsletters informing them of Korean culture and current affairs are published, and in some cases, the revenue from the publication of these newsletters is generated as advertising revenue.

[0017] Referring to FIG. 1, a system according to an embodiment of the present invention may be configured to include a user terminal (100), a service server (200), and an advertiser terminal (300).
[0018] The user terminal (100), service server (200), and advertiser terminal (300) can communicate with each other through a communication network, for example, a mobile communication network, a local area network (LAN), a metropolitan area network (MAN), a wide area network (WAN), the World Wide Web (WWW), and a wireless communication network (WiFi).
[0019] The user terminal (100) and the advertiser terminal (300) are equipped with computing functions and may be implemented in any form as long as they are devices capable of communicating with the outside. For example, they may be implemented as smartphones, tablet PCs, desktops, laptops, PDAs, etc., but are not limited thereto.
[0020] The user terminal (100) is a terminal operated by a foreign national residing in Korea (hereinafter referred to as “overseas national”), and receives and outputs newsletters and advertisements provided by the service server (200).
[0021] The service server (200) receives advertising information from the advertiser terminal (300) and provides the advertisement to the user terminal (100) with the advertisement inserted into a newsletter. The service server (200) performs the advertisement in response to the advertisement request from the advertiser terminal (300) and charges an appropriate advertising fee.
[0022] The advertiser terminal (300) sends an advertisement request to the service server (200).
[0023] FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating the detailed operation and internal configuration of a service server according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0024] Referring to FIG. 2, a service server (200) according to one embodiment may be configured to include an ad bid request unit (210), an ad information receiving unit (220), an ad selection unit (230), and a newsletter providing unit (240).
[0025] The ad bid request unit (210), ad information receiving unit (220), ad selection unit (230), and newsletter providing unit (240) may be program modules or hardware capable of communicating with external devices. Such program modules or hardware may be included in the service server (200) or other devices capable of communicating therewith in the form of an operating system, application program modules, and other program modules, and may be physically stored on various known storage devices. Meanwhile, such program modules or hardware include, but are not limited to, routines, subroutines, programs, objects, components, data structures, etc., that perform specific tasks or execute specific abstract data types as described below according to the present invention.
[0026] The ad bid request unit (210) provides information to the advertiser terminal (300) regarding the area where an ad can be inserted in the newsletter. The term "newsletter" should be understood as a concept that includes all forms such as electronic newspapers, articles, and information magazines provided to the user terminal (100) in the form of a web or app through a communication network.
[0027] Information about the area where an advertisement can be inserted can be provided to the advertiser terminal (300) as information about the head area (e.g., title area, etc.), body area (e.g., page 1, page 2, etc.), detailed category (e.g., current affairs area, social area, culture area, other information area, etc.) of the newsletter.
[0028] The advertiser terminal (300) can connect to the service server (200) and receive information about the newsletter and information about the area where an advertisement can be inserted.
[0029] The advertising information receiving unit (220) receives advertising request information from the advertiser terminal (300). The advertising request information may include advertiser information (e.g., company information, representative information, contact information, types of available languages, etc.) and information about the product or service to be advertised (e.g., image, category, description, detailed information, purchase link, etc.).
[0030] In addition, the above-mentioned ad request information may include information regarding the desired ad insertion area and information regarding the desired ad cost.
[0031] When the advertisement selection unit (230) receives multiple advertisement request information for a specific area, it selects one of the advertisements and inserts the selected advertisement into the specific area.
[0032] According to one embodiment, the advertisement selection unit (230) assigns the following score (P) to each candidate advertisement to be inserted for a specific area.
[0033]
[0034] In the above mathematical formula, f is a value proportional to the advertiser's desired advertising cost, a1 is the total number of buyers of the advertised product or service during a previously set period, a2 is the number of foreigners who purchased or used the advertised product or service during a previously set period, k1 is a value proportional to the number of languages available to the advertiser, k2 is a value proportional to the number of types of foreign languages included in the advertising information, and c is the category score.
[0035] If the product or service of a startup is to be zero, then the values of a1 and a2 will both be zero, so in this case, the value of a2 / a1 is ignored (a2 / a1 = 0).
[0036] The category score (c) may store information and statistics regarding the product or service categories of advertisements that were inserted into newsletters published by the service server (200) during a previously set period, and is a value proportional to the ratio of the number of past advertisements of the category corresponding to the advertisement target among all advertisements. For example, if 20 of the past 100 advertisement insertions were advertisements for dermatology and 30 were advertisements for festivals, the value of c may be greater when the advertisement request category is a festival than when it is a dermatology.
[0037] In this way, after assigning the above P value, the advertisement with the highest score can be selected as the advertisement to be inserted in the above specific area.
[0038] The newsletter providing unit (240) generates a newsletter with an advertisement inserted in the manner described above for each ad insertion-possible area and provides it to the user terminal (100).
[0039] Through this, overseas Koreans will be able to access various information about Korea and advertisements necessary for daily life via the newsletter.
[0040] The foregoing description of the present invention is for illustrative purposes only, and those skilled in the art will understand that other specific forms can be easily modified without altering the technical spirit or essential features of the present invention. Therefore, the embodiments described above should be understood as illustrative in all respects and not restrictive. For example, each component described as a single unit may be implemented in a distributed manner, and components described as distributed may likewise be implemented in a combined form.
