Technology Field
[0001] Various embodiments of this specification relate to a camera POC power failure detection system and method. Background Technology
[0003] An automotive camera system may include a camera, a camera module that processes signals captured by the camera, a control module that supplies power to and controls the camera module, and a cable connecting the two modules. In this case, a Power over Coaxial (POC) cable may be used to supply power to the camera module. A POC cable is a coaxial cable designed to enable both video or image data transmission and power supply through a single cable. Using a POC cable can reduce costs during the manufacturing phase.
[0004] The control module and camera module may include a SERDES IC (Serializer / Deserializer Integrated Circuit). The SERDES IC can enable high-speed data transmission by performing signal processing to serialize or parallelize data or transmit it via a POC cable. Additionally, the SERDES IC in the control module can also perform the role of transmitting POC power to the camera module. For automotive camera systems, there is a need for a design that guarantees the operation of specific functions and detects failures based on the semiconductor's function and performance to comply with defined functional safety standards. In particular, the importance of determining whether there is an abnormality in the POC power transmitted from the control module to the camera module via the POC cable is becoming increasingly prominent. The problem to be solved
[0006] Accordingly, the various embodiments of this specification aim to provide a monitoring system capable of determining abnormalities in the POC power of a camera system.

[0012] Additionally, the first SERDES IC and the second SERDES IC may include an abnormality detection unit that detects an abnormality in the POC power supply and generates a signal indicating whether there is an abnormality, and a signal processing unit that processes the signal indicating whether there is an abnormality and transmits it to the control device. The abnormality detection unit may include a voltage abnormality detection unit that determines whether the voltage of the POC power supply is within a normal range, and an oscillation detection circuit that determines whether the voltage of the POC power supply is oscillating.
[0013] In addition, the voltage abnormality detection unit can determine whether the input POC voltage is within a preset normal voltage range by comparing the reference voltage stored in the first SERDES IC and the second SERDES IC or the reference voltage received from the control device with the input POC voltage.
[0014] Additionally, the oscillation detection circuit may include: a high-pass filter that can receive the POC voltage when the voltage abnormality detection unit determines that the POC voltage is within a normal range and extracts the AC component of the applied POC power when the POC power is applied without passing through the POC filter; a comparator that determines whether the voltage of the POC power is oscillating by comparing the input POC voltage with a reference voltage stored in the first SERDES IC and the second SERDES IC or a reference voltage received from the control device and outputting an oscillation presence signal; a D flip-flop that synchronizes and stabilizes the oscillation presence signal with a clock signal and converts the analog signal into a digital signal; and an oscillation detection unit that determines whether the POC power is oscillating through the oscillation presence signal passed through the D flip-flop.
[0015] Additionally, the second SERDES IC can determine whether there is an abnormality in the voltage of the POC power applied through the POC cable, and if there is an abnormality, it can transmit a POC power abnormality flag to the control device through the POC cable, and if there is no abnormality, it can operate the camera module, and if there is no reception of video or image data because the POC power is not properly supplied to the camera module, it can transmit the POC power abnormality flag to the control device, and if there is reception of the video or image data, it can transmit the video or image data and the POC power generated by the camera module to the first SERDES IC, and the first SERDES IC can determine again whether there is an abnormality in the voltage of the POC power received through the POC cable, and if there is an abnormality, it can transmit a POC power abnormality flag to the control device, and if there is no abnormality, it can transmit the video or image data to the control device.

[0017] Additionally, the power monitoring method may further include the step of transmitting a POC power abnormality flag to the control device when the camera module determines that the voltage of the POC power is outside the normal range or that there is oscillation; the step of transmitting a POC power abnormality flag to the control device when the control module determines that the voltage of the POC power is outside the normal range or that there is oscillation; and the step of the control device diagnosing an abnormality of the POC power based on the POC power abnormality flag.
[0018] Additionally, the step of checking whether the camera module is operating may include the step of transmitting a POC power abnormality flag to the control device when the camera module cannot transmit video or image data because the POC power is not properly supplied to the camera module, and the power monitoring method may further include the step of the control device diagnosing an abnormality of the POC power based on the POC power abnormality flag. [0032] Figure 1 is a diagram briefly illustrating the POC power supply method of a camera system.
[0033] Referring to FIG. 1, the control module (45) of the camera system can supply power to the camera (10). At this time, a POC cable (30) capable of performing both power supply and video or image data transmission can be used. Since the POC cable (30) can perform the two aforementioned functions with a single cable, costs can be reduced when manufacturing the camera system. The power transmitted through the POC cable (30) can be referred to as POC power. The POC cable (30) may have a structure in which an insulator wraps around an internal central conductor wire, and an outer conductor wraps around the insulator, similar to a general coaxial cable. If the length of the POC cable (30) is increased, attenuation loss may occur, so a signal amplifier (repeater) may be additionally provided as needed. The control module (45) is equipped with a control device (20) to control the camera system overall, including POC power supply control.
[0034] FIG. 2 is a drawing illustrating a POC power monitoring system according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0035] Referring to FIG. 2, the camera system may include a camera (10), a camera module (40), a control module (45), and an output device (70).
[0036] The control module (45) may include a control device (20) and a first SERDES IC (60). The SERDES IC can convert parallel data into serial data and transmit it as a high-speed signal to a counterpart SERDES IC using a single channel. Data transmission using a single channel in this way is advantageous for reducing the number of cables or other connections and reducing interference between signals, thereby facilitating high-speed transmission of signals. Additionally, when the SERDES IC receives serial data, it can convert it into parallel data and restore it. Parallel data is easier to synchronize than serial data, making storage and management easier. Furthermore, the SERDES IC can perform the role of supplying or transmitting POC power. The illustrated first SERDES IC (60) can transmit POC power to the camera module (40) via the POC cable (30). The control device (20) controls the POC power supply, controls the shooting and signal processing of the camera module (40), and can finally verify and diagnose abnormal results of the POC power and display them to the user. The control device (20) can display video or image information of the camera module (40) to the user through the output device (70), and can also display whether there is an abnormality in the POC power supply to the user through the output device (70). The output device (70) may be a display device, an audio device, or other information output device connected to the control device (20).
[0037] The camera module (40) may include a second SERDES IC (65) and a signal processing device (50). The second SERDES IC (65) may receive POC power from the first SERDES IC (60) to operate the signal processing device (50) and the camera (10). The signal processing device (50) may be connected to the camera (10) and may process video or image data captured by the camera (10) to compress or convert it into a transmittable data format. The second SERDES IC (65) may receive video or image data from the signal processing device (50) and transmit it to the first SERDES IC (60). During the data transmission process, the second SERDES IC (65) may transmit POC power for driving the control module (45) along with the data. The POC power transmitted by the second SERDES IC (65) may be power generated by the camera module (40). According to one embodiment, the POC power supplied by the second SERDES IC (65) can be used to drive the image processing operation of the first SERDES IC (60). According to one embodiment, the POC power supplied by the second SERDES IC (65) can be controlled by the control device (20) of the control module (45). According to another embodiment, a separate control device (not shown) may be further included in the camera module (40), and the separate control device (not shown) may communicate with the control device (20) of the control module and control the POC power supplied by the second SERDES IC (65).
[0038] A POC power monitoring system according to one embodiment of the present invention can diagnose abnormalities in the POC power at the first SERDES IC (60) and the second SERDES IC (65), respectively.
[0039] FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating the components of a SERDES IC according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0040] Referring to FIG. 3, the first and second SERDES ICs (60, 65) may include an anomaly detection unit (135) and a signal processing unit (140). The anomaly detection unit (135) may include a voltage anomaly detection unit (130) and an oscillation detection circuit (120).
[0041] The voltage anomaly detection unit (130) can detect whether the POC power input to the first and second SERDES ICs (60, 65) is within a normal voltage range. The voltage anomaly detection unit (130) can determine whether the POC power voltage is within a normal range by comparing the input POC power with a recorded reference voltage or a reference voltage received from the control device (20). The normal range of the POC power voltage can be set during the design and usage process. For example, if the reference voltage is 5V and the normal range of the POC power is 10%, the POC power can be detected to be within a normal range when the POC power is 4.5V to 5.5V. The normal range of the POC power can be set to various values such as 10%, 15%, 20%, etc.
[0042] The oscillation detection circuit (120) can receive the POC power and determine whether oscillation is occurring when the voltage abnormality detection unit (130) determines that the POC power is within the normal range. If the POC power oscillates, the voltage fluctuates significantly within the normal voltage range, making it difficult to operate the camera system stably.
[0043] The abnormality detection unit (135) can transmit to the signal processing unit (140) whether there is an abnormality in the POC power supply when the voltage of the POC power supply is not within the normal range or when oscillation of the POC power supply is detected in the voltage abnormality detection unit (130) or the oscillation detection circuit (120), and the signal processing unit (140) can transmit the POC power supply abnormality flag to the control device (20).
[0044] FIG. 4 is a simplified diagram illustrating an oscillation detection circuit according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0045] Referring to FIG. 4, when the POC power is applied to the oscillation detection circuit (120), the DC component of the POC power can be removed through the high-pass filter (80) and only the AC component can be extracted. At this time, the applied POC power is power that has not passed through the POC filter. Since the power transmitted through the POC cable (30) can be transmitted simultaneously with video or image data, there is a need to remove the video or image data using the POC filter. The oscillation detection circuit (120) can receive POC power that has not passed through the POC filter because it detects oscillation by analyzing the AC component of the POC power. The comparator (90) can determine whether oscillation is occurring by comparing the AC component voltage extracted through the high-pass filter (80) with a reference voltage. At this time, the reference voltage may be a voltage generated by the SERDES IC based on information stored in the SERDES IC, or a voltage supplied from the control device (20). A D flip-flop (D-FF) (100) is connected to a comparator (90) and can sample and record the signal indicating whether the POC power is oscillating, which is output by the comparator (90). The D flip-flop (100) can stabilize the output signal by synchronizing the signal indicating whether the POC power is oscillating, which is output by the comparator (90), with a clock signal, thereby protecting the signal from other noise. Additionally, the D flip-flop (100) can convert the analog signal of the comparator (90) into a digital signal. An oscillation detection unit (110) can detect the signal indicating whether the POC power is oscillating after passing through the D flip-flop (100) and determine whether the signal is oscillating. Finally, the oscillation detection circuit (120) can determine whether the POC power is oscillating and transmit a signal indicating an abnormality caused by the oscillation of the POC power to the signal processing unit (140).
[0046] Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, the control device (20) can supply POC power to the camera module (40) through the first SERDES IC (60) and the POC cable (30). At this time, the first SERDES IC (60) detects an abnormality in the POC power primarily through the abnormality detection unit (135) (primary POC power abnormality detection), and if there is an abnormality in the POC power, transmits a signal related to the POC power abnormality to the control device (20) through the signal processing unit (140), and the control device (20) can finally confirm the abnormality in the POC power and notify the user of the abnormality in the POC power through the output device (70).
[0047] The camera module (40) can be operated using the supplied POC power. At this time, if power is not properly supplied to the camera (10) or the signal processing device (50) and a problem occurs in transmitting video data, the abnormality detection unit (135) and the signal processing unit (140) of the second SERDES IC (65) can detect an abnormality in the POC power (2nd POC power abnormality detection) and transmit a signal indicating that there is an abnormality to the control device (20). Likewise, in this case, the control device (20) can finally confirm the abnormality in the POC power and output the corresponding content to the user through the output device (70). If the POC power is properly supplied to the camera module (40) and there is no problem in transmitting video or image data to the control module (45), the first SERDES IC (60) can detect an abnormality in the POC power again (3rd POC power abnormality detection) while receiving the video or image data. The first SERDES IC (60) can transmit a POC power abnormality flag to the control device (20) via the signal processing unit (140) if there is an abnormality in the POC power. The control device (20) can finally confirm and diagnose the abnormality in the POC power and output information related to the POC power abnormality to the user via the output device (70). At this time, the first SERDES IC (60) can store reference data for video or image data and reference data for the POC power signal, or receive the corresponding reference data from the control device (20) to determine whether there is an abnormality.
[0048] FIG. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a POC power monitoring method according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0049] Referring to FIG. 5, a POC power supply (S100) to be supplied to a camera module (40) can be generated. The POC power supply may be generated by a first SERDES IC (60) or by a control device (20). The first SERDES IC (60) can supply the POC power supply to the camera module (40) through a POC cable (30) under the control of the control device (20).
[0050] Subsequently, it is possible to determine whether there is a voltage abnormality of the POC power supply (S110). The voltage abnormality detection unit (130) of the second SERDES IC (65) can determine whether the POC power supply voltage supplied through the POC cable (30) is within the normal range. At this time, if the POC power supply voltage is outside the normal range, the signal processing unit (140) of the second SERDES IC (65) can transmit a POC power abnormality flag to the control device (20). Subsequently, the control device (20) can diagnose (S190) and confirm the abnormality of the POC power supply and indicate whether there is a POC power abnormality through the output device (70).
[0051] If the voltage of the POC power supply is within the normal range, it is possible to determine whether the POC power supply voltage is oscillating (S120). The oscillation detection circuit (120) of the second SERDES IC (65) can determine whether the POC power supply voltage is oscillating. At this time, the oscillation of the POC power supply voltage can be determined by analyzing the POC voltage that has not passed through the POC filter. If oscillation of the POC power supply voltage is detected, the signal processing unit (140) of the second SERDES IC (65) can transmit a POC power abnormality flag to the control device (20). Subsequently, the control device (20) can diagnose (S190) and confirm the abnormality of the POC power supply and display whether the POC power supply is abnormal through the output device (70).
[0052] If it is determined that there is no abnormality in the POC power voltage, the POC power can be applied to the camera module (40) (S130). Subsequently, it can be determined whether the camera module is generating video or image data (S140). At this time, if the POC power is not properly supplied to the camera module and there is no transmission of video or image data (S200), the signal processing unit (140) of the second SERDES IC (65) can transmit a signal indicating that there is an abnormality in the POC power to the control device (20). Subsequently, the control device (20) can diagnose (S190) and confirm the abnormality in the POC power and indicate whether there is an abnormality in the POC power through the output device (70).
[0053] When the camera module (40) is properly supplied with POC power and operates normally, the presence or absence of a voltage abnormality in the POC power can be checked again (S150). This can be performed by the voltage abnormality detection unit (130) of the first SERDES IC (60). The voltage abnormality detection unit (130) of the first SERDES IC (60) can determine whether the voltage of the POC power generated by the camera module (40) supplied through the POC cable (30) is within the normal range. At this time, if the POC power voltage deviates from the normal range, the signal processing unit (140) of the first SERDES IC (60) can transmit a POC power abnormality flag to the control device (20). Subsequently, the control device (20) can diagnose (S190) and confirm the abnormality of the POC power and display whether there is a POC power abnormality through the output device (70).
[0054] Subsequently, if there is no voltage abnormality in the POC power supply, the presence or absence of voltage oscillation in the POC power supply can be checked again (S160). At this time, the POC voltage that has not passed through the POC filter can be analyzed to determine whether the POC power supply voltage is oscillating. If oscillation in the POC power supply voltage is detected, the signal processing unit (140) of the second SERDES IC (65) can transmit a POC power abnormality flag to the control device (20). Subsequently, the control device (20) can diagnose (S190) and confirm the abnormality in the POC power supply and indicate whether the POC power supply is abnormal through the output device (70).
[0055] If the first SERDES IC (60) determines that there is no problem with the POC power supply, video and image data can be transmitted (S170). The first SERDES IC (60) and the second SERDES IC (65) can transmit video and image data to the control device (20). The control device (20) can output this data to a user through the output device (70) or transmit it to another processing device of the vehicle for use in the entire vehicle system.
[0056] If, after going through the process described above, there is no abnormality in the POC power and the camera module (40) operates normally, the control device (20) can indicate to the user that there is no abnormality in the POC power (S180).
[0057] Through the camera power monitoring system and method described above, it is possible to stably supply power to the camera module and verify it by inspecting for abnormalities in the POC power through multiple steps. This facilitates the design and verification of the camera system and enables prompt action in the event of an abnormality in the POC power.
[0058] Although this specification has been described with reference to the embodiments illustrated in the drawings, this is merely illustrative, and those skilled in the art will understand that various modifications and equivalent alternative embodiments are possible therefrom. Accordingly, the true technical scope of protection of this disclosure should be determined by the technical spirit of the appended claims.
