Abstract

According to one embodiment of the present invention, an aerosol generating device is provided. The aerosol generating device includes a heating chamber (10) for receiving an aerosol-forming substrate. The aerosol generating device includes a heater assembly for heating the aerosol-forming substrate. The heater assembly includes a photon device (12) configured to generate a beam of electromagnetic radiation. The aerosol generating device is configured to heat the aerosol-forming substrate by directing the beam of electromagnetic radiation toward the aerosol-forming substrate. The present invention further relates to an aerosol generating system comprising an aerosol generating device and an aerosol generating article.
