AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional silicone resins that are solid at 25°C require solvents for processing and miscibility with liquid organopolysiloxanes, necessitating additional steps and energy for solvent removal, which increases costs.

Method used

A silicate resin that is liquid at 25°C without any solvent, miscible with organopolysiloxanes, eliminating the need for solvent-based processing and subsequent removal steps.

Benefits of technology

Facilitates easy formulation and reduces processing costs by avoiding solvent use and associated steps, enhancing the efficiency of release coating compositions.

Abstract

A base composition for forming a release coating composition is disclosed. The base composition comprises (A) a silicate resin that is liquid at 25°C in the absence of a solvent. (A) the silicate resin comprises an average of at least one silicon-bonded ethylene-based unsaturated group per molecule. The composition further comprises (B) an organopolysiloxane comprising an average of at least two silicon-bonded ethylene-based unsaturated groups per molecule. (A) the silicate resin is miscible with (B) the organopolysiloxane in the absence of any solvent. A method for preparing the base composition and a method for preparing the release coating composition are also disclosed.
