Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a fixing device for a curtain airbag cushion, and more specifically, to a technology for a fixing device for a curtain airbag cushion that improves assembly and workability and reduces working time when a folded curtain airbag cushion is fixedly attached to a vehicle body. Background Technology

[0002] Generally, vehicles are equipped with various types of airbag devices to protect passengers in the event of an accident; among these, curtain airbags are mounted on the side panels of the vehicle body and protect passengers by deploying downwards as the airbag cushion unfolds in the event of a rollover or side collision.

[0003] In this curtain airbag device, a folded airbag cushion in a circular shape is typically fixed to the upper part of the body pillar via a lamp bracket, and the folded airbag cushion deploys to protect the upper body, including the passenger's head, by the pressure of the airbag gas generated from the inflator. When the airbag cushion deploys, the lamp bracket guides the direction of deployment of the airbag cushion to prevent interference between the airbag cushion and the body trim.

[0004] When fixing the lamp bracket combined with the folded airbag cushion to the side panel of the vehicle body, bolts (or screws) are used, and in order to maintain the strong connection of the bolts, a steel mounting plate is attached to the part of the lamp bracket through which the bolt passes.

[0005] However, conventionally, the structure involves a worker applying external force to the mounting plate to bend a portion of it and connecting the mounting plate and the lamp bracket through the bent area. This results in inconvenient assembly and workability between the lamp bracket and the mounting plate, and consequently, a disadvantage in that the time required to secure the curtain airbag cushion to the vehicle body is excessive.

[0006] The matters described above as background technology are intended only to enhance understanding of the background of the present invention and should not be construed as an acknowledgment that they constitute prior art already known to those skilled in the art. Prior art literature

[0036] Hereinafter, a fixing device for a curtain airbag cushion according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be examined with reference to the attached drawings.

[0037] A vehicle's curtain airbag system includes an inflator that generates airbag gas and a curtain airbag cushion that deploys upon receiving the airbag gas.

[0038] The inflator and curtain airbag cushion are installed on the upper body of the vehicle pillar, and upon activation, the curtain airbag cushion deploys downward to protect the passengers.

[0039] The fixing device according to the present invention is used when installing a curtain airbag cushion to be fixed to the upper body of the vehicle pillar section.

[0040] That is, the fixing device for a curtain airbag cushion according to the present invention comprises: a lamp bracket (600) into which a curtain airbag cushion (1) in a folded state rolled into a circle is inserted, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 9; a mounting plate (100) assembled with the lamp bracket (600) and installed to be fixed to the vehicle body (2) together with the lamp bracket (600); an intermediate connecting tab (200) coupled with the mounting plate (100); and a strap (400) that wraps around the curtain airbag cushion (1) inserted into the lamp bracket (600) in a circumferential direction, one end of which is sewn (300) together with the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the intermediate connecting tab (200), and the other end of which is connected to the mounting plate (100) to fix the curtain airbag cushion (1).

[0041] The lamp bracket (600) includes a body part (610) formed in a hemispherical arc shape and a connecting part (620) connected to the body part (610).

[0042] A curtain airbag cushion (1) in a folded state that is rolled into a circular shape is inserted into the body portion (610) of the lamp bracket (600), and the connecting portion (620) is formed to protrude from the body portion (610) and is installed to be fixed to the vehicle body (2) together with the mounting plate (100) via a bolt (500).

[0043] A mounting plate (100) is positioned in front of a lamp bracket (600), and a bolt (500) passes through the mounting plate (100) and the lamp bracket (600) and is then connected to the vehicle body (2). To this end, bolt holes (110, 630) are formed in the upper part of the mounting plate (100) and the lamp bracket (600) so that the bolt (500) can pass through.

[0044] It is preferable that the mounting plate (100) be formed of steel so as to prevent sagging caused by the load of the intermediate connecting tab (200), the strap (400), and the curtain airbag cushion (1).

[0045] When the mounting plate (100) is formed of steel, sufficient assembly torque can be maintained when the mounting plate (100) is assembled to be fixed to the vehicle body (2) via a bolt (500), thereby strengthening the fastening force with the vehicle body (2) and improving the problem of the curtain airbag cushion (1) detaching from the vehicle body (2).

[0046] In addition, since the mounting plate (100) is formed of steel material, sagging caused by the load of the intermediate connecting tab (200), strap (400), and curtain airbag cushion (1) can be prevented, and through this, the shape of the mounting plate (100) can be maintained, thereby improving the assembly and workability of the worker when assembling with the vehicle body (2) using bolts (500).

[0047] According to the present invention, a first through hole (120) through which a strap (400) passes and a second through hole (130) through which an intermediate connecting tab (200) passes are formed in the mounting plate (100) at an upper and lower interval.

[0048] As another example, a single through hole may be formed in the mounting plate (100) through which the intermediate connecting tab (200) and the strap (400) can pass together.

[0049] The intermediate connecting tab (200) is formed of a flexible fabric material, and both ends that pass through the second through hole (130) of the mounting plate (100) are overlapped with each other, and the lower portion of the second through hole (130) is sewn (300) together with one end of the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the strap (400) so that the curtain airbag cushion (1), the intermediate connecting tab (200), and the strap (400) become a structure in which they are integrally joined.

[0050] The strap (400) is formed of a flexible fabric material and is inserted between the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the intermediate connecting tab (200) and sewn (300) together with the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the intermediate connecting tab (200), and the other end wraps around the curtain airbag cushion (1) in the circumferential direction, then passes through the first through hole (120) of the mounting plate (100) and is connected to the mounting plate (100) to fix the curtain airbag cushion (1).

[0051] The selvage portion of the curtain airbag cushion (1) and one end of the intermediate connecting tab (200) and the strap (400) are sewn together (300) to form an integrated structure, and for the sewing (300) connection, it is preferable that the intermediate connecting tab (200) and the strap (400) be formed from a flexible fabric material.

[0052] In addition, since the intermediate connecting tab (200) and the strap (400) are formed of a flexible fabric material, there is also an advantage in that damage to the curtain airbag cushion (1) caused by the intermediate connecting tab (200) and the strap (400) can be prevented when sewing (300) with the curtain airbag cushion (1).

[0053] As described above, one end of the strap (400) is inserted between the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the intermediate connecting tab (200), so that the curtain airbag cushion (1), one end of the strap (400), and the intermediate connecting tab (200) can be sewn together (300) in that order.

[0054] As another example, one end of the strap (400) may overlap the back of the intermediate connecting tab (200) and be sewn together (300) in the order of the curtain airbag cushion (1), the intermediate connecting tab (200), and one end of the strap (400).

[0055] As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, an embodiment according to the present invention has a structure in which one end of the strap (400) is sewn (300) together with the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the intermediate connecting tab (200), and the other end wraps around the curtain airbag cushion (1) in a circumferential direction, then passes through the first through hole (120) of the mounting plate (100), and is then directly hooked onto the mounting plate (100) to be fixed.

[0056] To this end, a hook portion (150) is provided at the bottom of the mounting plate (100) so as to protrude downward, and a hook hole (410) is formed at the other end of the strap (400) so that the hook portion (150) passes through and is hooked. By the combination of the hook portion (150) and the hook hole (410), the other end of the strap (400) is directly hooked to the mounting plate (100) and fixed.

[0057] One end of the strap (400) is sewn (300) together with the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the intermediate connecting tab (200), and the other end of the strap (400) wraps around the curtain airbag cushion (1) in the circumferential direction and then passes through the first through hole (120) of the mounting plate (100) and protrudes to the rear of the mounting plate (100). A catch hole (410) is formed in the other end of the strap (400) that protrudes to the rear of the mounting plate (100), so that when the lower end of the mounting plate (100) is passed through the catch hole (410), the catch portion (150) of the mounting plate (100) is caught on the catch hole (410) of the strap (400), thereby the other end of the strap (400) is caught and fixed on the catch portion (150) of the mounting plate (100). It becomes a structure.

[0058] It may also be possible to configure the mounting plate (100) so that, instead of the catch portion (150) protruding from both sides at the bottom of the mounting plate (100), a cut portion is formed by partially cutting the back of the mounting plate (100) in a U-shape to serve the same role as the catch portion (150).

[0059] Another embodiment of the present invention may be structured such that, as shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, a fixing member (700) is attached to the other end of a strap (400), and the fixing member (700) passes through the first through hole (120) of the mounting plate (100) and is then hooked onto the back of the mounting plate (100) to be fixed, thereby connecting the other end of the strap (400) to the mounting plate (100) through the fixing member (700).

[0060] The fixing member (700) is formed in the shape of a straight rod and is fixedly connected to the other end of the strap (400), and when connected to the strap (400), both ends of the fixing member (700) are connected so as to protrude to both sides of the strap (400).

[0061] One end of the strap (400) is sewn (300) together with the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the intermediate connecting tab (200), and the other end of the strap (400) wraps around the circularly folded curtain airbag cushion (1) in the circumferential direction and then protrudes to the rear of the mounting plate (100) by passing through the first through hole (120) of the mounting plate (100) together with the fixing member (700).

[0062] When the fixing member (700) passes through the first through hole (120) of the mounting plate (100) together with the other end of the strap (400) and protrudes to the rear of the mounting plate (100), the strap (400) is pulled downward by the weight of the circularly folded curtain airbag cushion (1), and as a result, both ends of the fixing member (700) are caught on the back of the mounting plate (100) and fixed, thereby the circularly folded curtain airbag cushion (1) becomes a structure fixed by the strap (400).

[0063] According to the present invention, it is preferable that the vertical width of the fixing member (700) be formed smaller than the vertical width of the first through hole (120) so that the fixing member (700) can penetrate the first through hole (120) of the mounting plate (100).

[0064] Additionally, it is preferable that the left-right length of the fixing member (700) be formed longer than the left-right length of the first through hole (120) so that the fixing member (700) can be fixed by being hooked onto the back of the mounting plate (100) after passing through the first through hole (120).

[0065] In addition, according to the present invention, it is preferable that the fixing member (700) be formed as a rigid structure so that it can be fixed by being hooked onto the back surface of the mounting plate (100) after passing through the first through hole (120), and the rigid structure may be either steel or plastic.

[0066] According to the present invention, the mounting plate (100) and the lamp bracket (600) have a structure in which they are directly assembled to each other. To this end, a coupling hook (160) protruding toward the lamp bracket (600) is integrally formed on the mounting plate (100), and a hook hole (640) through which the coupling hook (160) passes is formed on the lamp bracket (600). As the coupling hook (160) passing through the hook hole (640) is hooked onto the back surface of the lamp bracket (600) and fixed, the mounting plate (100) and the lamp bracket (600) are assembled to each other.

[0067] It is preferable that the vertical length (L1) of the coupling hook (160) be formed with a larger dimension than the vertical length (L2) of the hook hole (640) so that the coupling hook (160) passing through the hook hole (640) can be hooked and fixed to the back of the lamp bracket (600). Therefore, when passing the coupling hook (160) through the hook hole (640), the coupling hook (160) is twisted in one direction to pass through.

[0068] As shown in FIGS. 3 to 6, when the coupling hook (160) is formed to protrude from both sides of the mounting plate (100), the anti-rotation projection (650) formed on the lamp bracket (600) comes into contact with the upper surface of the mounting plate (100) when the lamp bracket (600) and the mounting plate (100) are assembled, and the mounting plate (100) is structured so that rotation is prevented by contact with the anti-rotation projection (650).

[0069] As another example, as shown in FIG. 7, when the coupling hook (160) is formed to protrude from the upper surface of the mounting plate (100), the anti-rotation projection (650) formed on the lamp bracket (600) comes into contact with both sides of the mounting plate (100) when the lamp bracket (600) and the mounting plate (100) are assembled, and the mounting plate (100) is structured so that rotation is prevented by contact with the anti-rotation projection (650).

[0070] As described above, the fixing device for a curtain airbag cushion according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises an intermediate connecting tab (200) and a strap (400) that are connected to the curtain airbag cushion (1) and the sewing (300), a mounting plate (100) connected to the intermediate connecting tab (200), and a lamp bracket (600) assembled with the mounting plate (100) and fixedly connected to the vehicle body (2) together with the mounting plate (100). Since the mounting plate (100) is formed of steel material, sufficient assembly torque can be maintained when assembled to be fixed to the vehicle body (2) via a bolt (500), thereby strengthening the fastening force with the vehicle body (2), which has the advantage of improving the problem of the curtain airbag cushion (1) detaching from the vehicle body (2).

[0071] In addition, since the mounting plate (100) is formed of steel material, the present invention can prevent sagging caused by the load of the intermediate connecting tab (200), strap (400), and curtain airbag cushion (1), and thereby enables the mounting plate (100) to maintain its shape, which has the advantage of improving the assembly and workability of the worker when assembling with the vehicle body (2) using bolts (500).

[0072] In addition, the present invention has the advantage that the intermediate connecting tab (200) and the strap (400) are formed of a flexible fabric material for sewing (300) with the curtain airbag cushion (1), thereby preventing damage to the curtain airbag cushion (1) by the intermediate connecting tab (200) and the strap (400) during sewing (300) connection.

[0073] In addition, the present invention is configured such that the mounting plate (100) and the lamp bracket (600) are assembled by passing the coupling hook (160) of the mounting plate (100) through the hook hole (640) of the lamp bracket (600), thereby improving the assemblability and workability of the mounting plate (100) and the lamp bracket (600), which allows for a reduction in the overall assembly time and thereby has the advantage of promoting increased productivity.

[0074] Although the present invention has been illustrated and described in relation to specific embodiments, it will be obvious to those skilled in the art that the present invention can be modified and changed in various ways without departing from the technical spirit of the invention as provided by the following claims.
