Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition for the prevention or treatment of amoebic infections comprising a compound derived from a large burdock extract as an active ingredient. The composition for the prevention or treatment of amoebic infections comprising the compound derived from the large burdock extract of the present invention induces morphological and cellular functional changes in Naegleria fowleri, reduces the survival rate of Naegleria fowleri, and ultimately induces death. Therefore, the compound derived from the large burdock extract according to the present invention can be usefully utilized as a pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food composition for the prevention or treatment of amoebic infections.
