Abstract
Description
Technology Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a shower head detachable filter device that is mounted on a shower head, and more specifically, to a shower head detachable filter device that can be simply mounted and used. Background Technology
[0002] Due to the aging of water pipes or regional variations in water quality, tap water may contain various impurities such as heavy metals, microorganisms, residual chlorine, and suspended solids. These impurities can cause symptoms such as skin irritation, itching, and dryness in users with sensitive skin. Consequently, shower heads equipped with built-in filter cartridges are being used by users with sensitive skin or those prone to allergic reactions. These shower heads can be easily connected to a shower hose and allow for safer showering by removing impurities from tap water via the filter cartridge.
[0003] Particularly when traveling abroad or on business trips, an increasing number of users are taking shower heads equipped with built-in water purification cartridges with them. By removing the standard shower head installed in their accommodation and installing the one they brought in its place, they aim to prevent skin irritation or troubles caused by poor water quality. According to Industry Research, annual global sales of filter shower heads are projected to reach approximately 45 million units in 2024. The portable (travel) shower filter market is estimated at around $500 million in 2025 and is expected to grow at an average annual rate of about 8% from 2025 to 2033, reaching approximately $1.1 billion by 2033. While publicly available figures for the domestic filter shower head market are limited, considering the 2024 sales performance of leading companies (e.g., Dr.** 4.85 million units, Pure* 2.37 million units), it is estimated that a total of around 11.75 million units were sold (compared to 8.77 million units in 2023). As such, the filter shower market is continuously growing both domestically and internationally.
[0004] However, the aforementioned method of replacing a shower head can cause various inconveniences to the user. For example, separating the existing shower head from the shower hose requires a certain level of rotational force or grip strength, and it may be difficult to detach if the user lacks physical strength or hand strength. Furthermore, it may not detach at all due to causes such as corrosion or seizing of the shower connection part, damage may occur during the separation process, or the specifications of the shower connection part may not match.
[0005] Furthermore, recent media reports regarding some overseas hotels prohibiting the disassembly and replacement of showerheads and imposing fines for violations have caused significant inconvenience and anxiety among travelers looking to switch to portable showerheads with water purification functions. However, manufacturers of commercially available portable showerheads with water purification capabilities have not recognized this inconvenience as a problem, as they believe their products meet standard specifications and can be easily replaced with hotel showerheads in any travel destination worldwide. Consequently, products capable of improving water quality while leaving the hotel showerheads in place have not been developed or are not currently being sold.
[0006] Accordingly, there is a demand for technology regarding a filter cartridge device that can provide filter cartridge functionality without separating the shower head from the shower hose. The problem to be solved
[0007] The present invention was created to resolve the above-mentioned problems and aims to provide a shower head detachable filter device that can be simply mounted on a shower head for use, is compatible with various shower head structures, and offers excellent portability. means of solving the problem
[0008] The shower head detachable filter device of the present invention, as a means of solving the problem for achieving the above objective, comprises: a casing that is detachably mounted on the outside of the water outlet of a shower head and allows water discharged from the water outlet to pass through; a filter cartridge embedded in the casing and filtering the water passing through the casing; and a spray plate that sprays the water passing through the filter cartridge to the outside of the casing.
[0009] In addition, it further comprises a mounting retaining part that is coupled to the above casing and surrounds the water outlet of the shower head, maintaining the coupled state of the water outlet to the casing.
[0010] In addition, the above-mentioned mounting maintenance part is a waterproof sheet having elasticity, and includes an elastic cover in which the edge portion is sealedly coupled to the top of the casing and a passage is formed through which the water outlet of the shower head can pass.
[0011] In addition, the elastic cover is integrally fixed to the casing through injection molding or an adhesive method.
[0012] In addition, the edge portion of the elastic cover is pressed tightly against the casing by the cover compression ring while in contact with the casing.
[0013] In addition, the cover compression ring maintains a sealed state by pressing the edge portion of the elastic cover toward the casing through screw connection to the casing.
[0014] In addition, the elastic cover further has an extension formed therein that connects to the passage and can wrap around a part of the handle of the shower head.
[0015] In addition, the extension part is equipped with a compression band that tightens the extension part while the extension part wraps around the handle part, thereby increasing the bonding force of the extension part to the handle part.
[0016] In addition, the above casing is assembled into an upper case and a lower case that are separable vertically.
[0017] And, the above elastic cover is attached to the upper case, and the spray plate is supported on the lower case.
[0018] In addition, the filter cartridge is detachable from the casing.
[0019] In addition, a support ring is provided inside the casing to support the filter cartridge toward the spray plate.
[0020] In addition, a spacer is further provided between the filter cartridge and the spray plate to separate the filter cartridge from the spray plate and form a mixing space between the spray plate and the filter cartridge.
[0021] In addition, the filter cartridge and spray plate are fixed integrally to the casing.
[0022] In addition, a mixing space is formed between the filter cartridge and the spray plate.
[0023] In addition, the above casing is made of a transparent material. Effects of the invention
[0024] The shower head detachable filter device of the present invention, constructed as described above, has a structure that allows it to be simply attached and used without separating the shower head, and thus has the following effects not found in the prior art.
[0025] First, the water purification filter device can be easily installed and used without the difficulty of having to detach the existing shower head.
[0026] Second, even in situations where replacing the shower head is impossible due to concerns about damage or differences in connection sizes, the existing shower head can be kept and used as is.
[0027] Third, while existing filter device products include a shower handle, the product according to the present invention does not include a handle, so the size of the water purification filter device is reduced, allowing the volume of travel items to be minimized. Specific details for implementing the invention
[0029] Hereinafter, one embodiment according to the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the attached drawings.
[0030] FIG. 1 is a drawing for explaining the application method of a shower head detachable filter device (20) according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0031] As described above, the shower head detachable filter device (20) according to the present embodiment can be used by being detachably mounted on the water outlet (15) of the shower head (11).
[0032] The above shower head (11) is a standard type and has a handle portion (13) and a water outlet portion (15). The handle portion (13) is the part that the user grips with their hand and is connected to a shower hose (17). A water flow path is formed inside the handle portion (13). Additionally, the water outlet portion (15) is the part that sprays water passing through the handle portion (13) to the outside. A plurality of water outlet holes are formed in the water outlet portion (15).
[0033] The detachable filter device (20) according to the present embodiment can be used universally in a general shower head (11) regardless of the shape or structure of the water outlet (15). That is, it can be applied to various types of shower heads, so there are few restrictions on the usage environment, and it has excellent compatibility and practicality.
[0034] FIG. 2 is a cutaway perspective view showing a shower head (11) mounted on a shower head detachable filter device (20) according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view showing the internal configuration of the filter device (20) shown in FIG. 2.
[0035] As described above, the detachable filter device (20) according to the present embodiment may include a casing (21), a filter cartridge (27), a support ring (31), a spacer (33), a spray plate (29), and a mounting maintenance part.
[0036] The casing (21) is detachably mounted on the outside of the outlet (15) of the shower head (11) and can allow water discharged from the outlet to pass through its interior. The casing (21) has a roughly cylindrical shape with a diameter larger than the diameter of the outlet (15).
[0037] The casing (21) illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3 is assembled from an upper case (25) and a lower case (23). The upper case (25) and the lower case (23) are joined to each other, with the inner surface of the lower case (23) screw-connected to the outer surface of the upper case (25). Since the upper and lower cases (25, 23) are joined by screws in this manner, the lower case (23) can be separated from the upper case (25) to replace, for instance, the filter cartridge (27). Additionally, either or all of the upper case (25) and the lower case (23) can be made of a transparent material so that the time for replacing the filter cartridge can be easily checked.
[0038] A spray plate support (23a) is formed at the bottom of the lower case (23). The spray plate support (23a) is a portion that is bent inward from the lower inner surface of the lower case (23) and can support the edge of the spray plate (29). The spray plate (29) is caught on the spray plate support (23a) and does not fall downward. The inner space of the spray plate support (23a) is a passage (23b) through which sprayed water drains.
[0039] Additionally, an elastic cover fixing part (25c) is provided at the upper part of the upper case (25). The elastic cover fixing part (25c) is a part that connects with the edge of the elastic cover (35), which is a mounting maintenance part. The elastic cover (35) is an elastically deformable waterproof sheet, and its edge is fixed to the elastic cover fixing part (25c).
[0040] The above elastic cover fixing part (25c) takes the shape of a groove and receives and fixes the edge end of the elastic cover (35). The elastic cover (35) can be fixed to the upper case (25) by injection molding or adhesive. The above injection molding may include double injection or insert injection.
[0041] The filter cartridge (27) is approximately in the shape of a cylinder and is mounted inside the casing (21). The filter cartridge (27) can filter the water passing through the casing (21) to remove contaminants mixed in the water. The filtered water passes through the mixing space (28) and is sprayed to the outside through the spray plate (29).
[0042] The filter cartridge (27) consists of a filter housing (27b) and a filter body (27a). The filter housing (27b) is a case that accommodates and supports the filter body (27a) inside it. The filter housing (27b) prevents the filter body (27a) from being deformed by the flow pressure of water and guides the water to pass through the filter body (27a) stably. The filter cartridge (27) is in close contact with the inner circumference of the casing (21) to guide the water to pass through the filter body (27a) without bypassing the outside of the filter cartridge (27).
[0043] The filter cartridge (27) is in close contact with the inner surface of the casing (21) but is separated. After separating the lower case (23) from the upper case (25), the contaminated filter cartridge (27) can be removed and a new filter cartridge (27) can be inserted.
[0044] The spray plate (29) is a disc-shaped member having a certain thickness and diameter and has a plurality of spray holes (29a). The inner diameter of the spray holes (29a) may be approximately 0.5 mm. In addition, to conserve water and increase water pressure, it may be in the form of fine spray holes with an inner diameter of 0.1 mm to 0.4 mm.
[0045] As described above, the spray plate (29) sprays water to the outside by passing water through the filter cartridge (27). The edge of the spray plate (29) is supported by the spray plate support (23a). After separating the lower case (23) from the upper case (25), the spray plate (29) can be separated from the lower case (23). Accordingly, cleaning or replacement of the spray plate can be easily performed.
[0046] The spacer (33) is a ring-shaped member having a certain thickness and diameter. The spacer (33) is interposed between the filter cartridge (27) and the spray plate (29), and separates the filter cartridge from the spray plate to form a mixing space (28) between the spray plate and the filter cartridge.
[0047] The mixing space (28) is a space where water passing through the filter cartridge (27) is uniformly mixed. By mixing the filtered water evenly in the mixing space (28), the flow rate and spray pressure of the water passing through the spray plate (29) can be maintained stably. That is, the water is allowed to flow out of all spray holes (29a) at the same flow rate. Accordingly, the user can take a shower with constant and comfortable water pressure.
[0048] In addition, a support ring (31) may be detachably mounted on the upper part of the filter cartridge (27) or manufactured as an integral part inside the casing (21).
[0049] The support ring (31) serves to support the filter cartridge (27) towards the spray plate (29) inside the casing (21). The support ring (31) is screw-coupled to the inner surface of the upper case (25) and can be separated if necessary. The support ring (31) supports the filter cartridge (27) to maintain the filter cartridge (27) in a state of close contact with the spacer (33).
[0050] Meanwhile, the above-mentioned mounting maintenance part surrounds the water outlet part (15) of the shower head while connected to the casing, and serves to maintain the connection state of the water outlet part to the casing (21).
[0051] The elastic cover (35) is a waterproof sheet having elasticity, and its edge portion is fixed to the upper part of the upper case (25) of the casing. The elastic cover (35) is a waterproof sheet formed of rubber, silicone, or an elastic material equivalent thereto. When the elastic cover (35) is pulled and stretched, it stretches, and when the pulling force is removed, it returns to its original state.
[0052] A passage (35a) is formed in the elastic cover (35). The passage (35a) is a through hole through which the water outlet (15) of the shower head can enter and exit. The water outlet (15) can be inserted into the inside of the elastic cover (35) by extending the passage (35a), and the water outlet (15) that is inside the elastic cover (35) can also be pulled out to the outside through the passage (35a) as shown in FIG. 3. As described above, since the elastic cover (35) is elastically deformable and returns to its original state without external force being applied, the passage (35a) can be opened to allow the water outlet (15) to pass through.
[0053] As shown in FIG. 3, the elastic cover (35) expands when the water outlet (15) of the shower head is inserted into the elastic cover and elastically supports the water outlet (15) in the direction of arrow a. Regardless of the formation of the water outlet (15), the elastic cover (35) can provide a uniform compressive force over the entire water outlet while in close contact with the water outlet (15). Additionally, since the elastic cover (35) is elastically deformable, even if shaking or collision occurs during the use of the shower head (11), the bonding force between the water outlet (15) and the casing (21) is not reduced and the initial bonding force can be maintained.
[0054] Drawing symbol 47 is a sealing O-ring. The sealing O-ring (47) is positioned in the space between the casing (21) and the outlet (15) to prevent backflow of water coming out of the shower head (11).
[0055] FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a modified example of a filter device (20) according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0056] Drawing symbols identical to those mentioned above indicate identical components of the same function, and a repeated description is omitted.
[0057] As described above, the upper case (25) can be mounted inside the lower case (23) while accommodating the filter cartridge (27). A female screw thread is formed on the inner surface of the lower case (23), and a male screw thread is formed on the outer surface of the upper case (25). The upper case (25) and the lower case (23) are connected via a screw connection structure, and can be separated or reassembled as needed.
[0058] FIGS. 5 to 7 are drawings showing various coupling methods of a filter cartridge to a casing (21) in a filter device according to one embodiment of the present invention. For convenience, the elastic cover (35) has been omitted.
[0059] As illustrated in FIG. 5, the casing (21) may have a single structure. While the casing (21) of the type described above has an assembled structure of a lower case (23) and an upper case (25), the casing (21) of FIG. 9 has an integrated structure. This integrated casing has a simple structure and a small number of parts, making it easy to manufacture and inexpensive to produce. Therefore, it is advantageous to use the integrated casing (21) when manufacturing a filter device for single use. The filter device (20) of the type illustrated in FIG. 9 can be used for single use.
[0060] Additionally, the filter cartridge (27) and the spray plate (29) are fixed to the inner surface of the casing (21) using a bonding means such as an adhesive. The filter cartridge (27) and the spray plate (29) form an integral part of the casing (21).
[0061] Since the filter cartridge (27) and the spray plate (29) are each fixed to the inner wall of the casing (21) in a spaced-apart manner, the mixing space (28) can be maintained without the spacer mentioned above. Since the spacer is also removed, the structure is further simplified, and there is also a cost-saving effect due to the reduction in the number of parts.
[0062] The filter device (20) illustrated in FIG. 6 is coupled to the casing (21) by a fitting method with respect to the filter cartridge (27). To this end, a locking retaining projection (21a) is formed on the inner surface of the casing (21), and a locking portion (27c) is formed on the outer surface of the filter cartridge (27). The locking retaining projection (21a) is a protrusion extending in the circumferential direction from the inner surface of the casing (21) and has a triangular cross-sectional shape. Additionally, the locking portion (27c) is a protrusion extending in the circumferential direction from the outer surface of the filter housing (27b). The cross-sectional shape of the locking portion (27c) also has a triangular shape. Furthermore, in order for the filter cartridge (27) and the casing (21) to be in close contact without gap, the locking retaining projection (21a) and the locking portion (27c) are made of an elastic material rather than a solid material.
[0063] The above-mentioned catch portion (27c) is secured by passing over the locking retaining projection (21a) and then catching on the locking retaining projection (21a) when the filter cartridge (27) is inserted into the interior of the casing (21). The above-mentioned snap-fit method enables quick and easy assembly without adhesive or screw fastening. A spacer (33) is located at the bottom of the filter cartridge (27) snap-fitted into the interior of the casing (21). The spacer (33) maintains the spacing of the spray plate (29) relative to the filter cartridge (27).
[0064] In addition, the filter device (20) illustrated in FIG. 7 has a configuration in which a bending groove (21c) is formed on the inner surface of the casing (21) and a side stopper (27e) is provided on the outer surface of the filter cartridge (27).
[0065] The above-mentioned bending groove (21c) is a groove having a shape of approximately an L and can accommodate and support the side stopper (27e). When the side stopper (27e) descends along the bending groove (21c) and then moves horizontally, the filter cartridge (27) can be connected to the casing (21). This connection method is, for example, a turn-lock method, which allows the connection of the filter cartridge (27) to the casing (21) to be performed simply and quickly. After inserting the filter cartridge (27) to a certain position, the user can quickly fix the filter cartridge (27) inside the casing (21) with only a predetermined rotational movement.
[0066] FIGS. 8 and 9 are drawings illustrating different methods of connecting an elastic cover (35) to a casing (21) in a filter device (20) according to one embodiment of the present invention. As described above, the elastic cover (35) may be fixed to the casing (21) by injection molding or adhesive bonding, or alternatively, as shown in FIGS. 12 and 13, it may be fixed by assembly.
[0067] As shown in FIG. 8, a cover end receiving groove (21e) is formed on the outer surface of the upper part of the casing (21). The cover end receiving groove (21e) is a groove extending in the circumferential direction of the casing (21) and receives the end of the elastic cover (35). With the lower end of the elastic cover (35) received in the cover end receiving groove (21e), a part thereof is compressed in the direction of arrow c by the cover compression ring (37). That is, it is compressed toward the upper surface of the casing (21) by the cover compression ring (37).
[0068] The cover compression ring (37) is screw-fastened to the outer surface of the upper part of the casing (21) and presses and compresses a part of the elastic cover (35). Accordingly, the connection state of the elastic cover (35) to the casing (21) is maintained. In addition, as the cover compression ring (37) compresses the elastic cover (35) downward, no gap is created between the elastic cover (35) and the casing (21), and water is prevented from leaking to the outside through the gap between the casing (21) and the elastic cover (35).
[0069] Reference numeral 41 is a pressing ring. The pressing ring (41) is interposed between the cover pressing ring (37) and the elastic cover (35), and prevents the elastic cover (35) from being damaged by friction when the cover pressing ring (37) rotates. That is, it prevents tearing caused by friction applied to the surface of the elastic cover when the cover pressing ring (37) is fastened by a screw connection method.
[0070] In addition, in the case of the filter device (20) illustrated in FIG. 9, the end portion of the elastic cover (35) is interposed between the cover compression ring (37) and the upper surface of the casing (21), and in that state, it receives a pressing force in the direction of arrow c from the cover compression ring (37). Since the cover compression ring (37) performs the function of pressing and fixing the edge portion of the elastic cover (35), the configuration is simpler compared to FIG. 12.
[0071] Various variations of the elastic cover (35) are described through FIGS. 10 to 13 as follows. As shown, the elastic cover (35) is implemented in a partially spherical shape, but this is merely one embodiment. The elastic cover (35) may have a partially spherical structure that naturally forms a curved surface when no external force is applied, or it may be formed in a gentle curved or flat shape without separate curvature. The elastic cover (35) in this embodiment is not limited to a specific shape and can have various shapes.
[0072] The elastic cover (35) illustrated in FIG. 10 has a reinforcing portion (35b) at the edge of the passage (35a). The reinforcing portion (35b) is a relatively thicker portion than other parts formed during the manufacture of the elastic cover (35). The reinforcing portion (35b) is in close contact with the boundary area between the water outlet portion (15) and the handle portion (13) of the shower head, and performs the function of preventing leakage through the passage (35a) by compressing the area more strongly.
[0073] Additionally, as illustrated in FIG. 11, a corrugated section (35e) may be applied to the passage (35a). The corrugated section (35e) is formed along the circumferential direction of the passage (35a) and serves to increase the elasticity of the passage (35a). When a user passes the outlet (15) through the passage (35a), the passage (35a) can be stretched more easily due to the elastic action of the corrugated section (35e), thereby making it easier to insert the outlet (15).
[0074] As illustrated in FIG. 12, the elastic cover (35) may additionally include an extension (35f). The extension (35f) is a tubular portion formed extending outward from the passage (35a) and has a structure that wraps around a part of the handle portion (13) of the shower head. Since the extension (35f) is also made of the same elastic material as the elastic cover (35), it can elastically adhere to the outer surface of the handle portion (13).
[0075] Since there is no gap between the extension part (35f) and the handle part (13), water inside the filter device does not leak out through the passage (35a) during use.
[0076] The elastic cover (35) illustrated in FIG. 13 further comprises a compression band (43). The compression band (43) is a band-shaped member fixed to the outer surface of the extension (35f) through an adhesive (45). The compression band (43) can serve to increase the bonding strength of the extension to the handle portion by tightening the extension (35f) while the extension (35f) is wrapped around the handle portion (13) of the shower head (11).
[0077] The compression band (43) includes a band body (43a) and adhesive fabrics (43b, 43c). The band body (43a) is a member that is fixed to the extension (35f) via an adhesive (45) as described above. The band body (43a) may be made of a non-stretchable fabric. Additionally, the adhesive fabrics (43b, 43c) are Velcro-type members that can be attached and fixed to each other. The adhesive fabrics (43b, 43c) can be fixed by coming into contact with each other while the user wraps the band body (43a) around the extension (35f).
[0078] As described above, since the compression band (43) strongly adheres the extension part (35f) to the handle part (13), there is no gap, so there is no risk of water ejected from the outlet part (15) leaking through the passage (35a).
[0079] As described above, the shower head detachable filter device (20) according to the present embodiment is configured to be easily detachable from the outside of the shower head's water outlet, so that a filter function can be easily provided without replacing or disassembling the existing shower head, and can be used universally regardless of the shape of the existing shower head.
[0080] Although the present invention has been described in detail through specific embodiments, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and various modifications can be made by those skilled in the art within the scope of the technical concept of the present invention.
