Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a low-voltage battery module assembly. Background Technology

[0003] Generally, rechargeable batteries are widely used as energy sources for mobile devices. They are also attracting attention as power sources for electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Furthermore, rechargeable batteries are applied to devices that store and supply energy in conjunction with the power grid, such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

[0004] The basic unit of a secondary battery is the battery cell. While small mobile devices use one or two battery cells, medium to large devices such as automobiles and energy storage systems utilize battery module assemblies. A battery module assembly achieves high output and large capacity by electrically connecting multiple battery cells. Battery module assemblies can then be grouped together and electrically connected to form a battery pack assembly.

[0005] In automobiles, low-voltage (12V or 24V) battery module assemblies and high-voltage (200V to 800V) battery pack assemblies may be used. The former is used for the operation of vehicle electronic systems, ECUs, starter motors, etc., and the latter can be used to drive the wheels. The problem to be solved

The voltage value sensed by the voltage sensing module (160) is transmitted to the BMS, and the BMS can control the battery cells (130 and 140) based on the voltage value.

[0052] A cooling member (180, 190) may be provided for cooling the battery cells (130 and 140). If the first cooling member (180) is placed between a pair of battery cells (131, 135), the second cooling member (190) may also be placed between another pair of battery cells (141, 145). In an alternative embodiment, if the battery cells (131, 135 / 141, 145) are spaced far apart and there is ventilation between them, the cooling member (180, 190) may not be provided.

[0053] delete

[0054] delete

[0055] The first cooling member (180) or the second cooling member (190) may have a cooling plate (181, 191) facing the battery cell (131, 135 / 141, 45). At the corners of the cooling plate (181, 191), cooling fins (185, 195) may be bent and extended. [0064] Referring to the drawing, the clip (170) can be fastened to the reinforcing members (115, 125) of the cartridges (110 and 120). The clip (170) may include a first clip (170a) and a second clip (170b) connecting a pair of reinforcing members (115, 125).

[0065] A pair of reinforcing members (115, 125) and clips (170a, 170b) can form a closed loop surrounding a pair of first battery cells (130) and a pair of second battery cells (140). The closed loop can firmly compress the battery cells (130, 140, see FIG. 2) to prevent swelling of the battery cells.

[0066] One of the pair of reinforcing members (115, 125) may have a catch groove (127) formed therein. The other of the pair of reinforcing members (115, 125) may have a catch projection (117) formed therein.

[0067] The clip (170) may include two ends having different structures. The two ends may extend in different directions. One end of the clip (170) may be a catch ring (171) that is inserted into a catch groove (127). The other end of the clip (170) may be a catch projection (175) that engages with a catch projection (117).

[0068] According to this configuration, the catch ring (171) is hooked into the catch groove (127), and the clip (170) is rotated around that point so that the catch projection (175) can slide over the catch projection (117) while elastically deforming. After sliding over the catch projection (117), the catch projection (175) can be caught on the catch projection (117) by spring back. With this fastening structure, the clip (170) can be fastened to the end cartridges (110 and 120) without bolting or welding.

[0081] The voltage sensing module (160, see FIG. 2) may include a sensing busbar (165) electrically connected to the battery cells (131, 141). The electrode leads (133 and 143) and the sensing busbar (165) may be welded together in three pieces while supported by the first support member (153).

[0082] FIG. 5 is an assembled perspective view showing the part related to the voltage sensing module in FIG. 1, FIG. 6 is an exploded perspective view showing the frame and the central cartridge in FIG. 5, and FIG. 7 is an exploded perspective view showing the connection relationship between the connector and the busbars in FIG. 5.

[0083] Referring to the drawings, first and second end busbars (165') that are directly coupled to the electrode leads (137, 147) of the battery cells (135, 1145) may be provided. A connector (169) may be provided to connect the electrode leads (137, 147) to an external device. A central busbar (167) may be located in the electrical path between the electrode leads (137, 147) and the connector (169).

[0084] delete

[0085] The voltage sensing module (160) may include a frame (161) that supports the first and second end busbars (165'). The frame (161) may have a first bridge (162) and a second bridge (163). The first bridge (162) and the second bridge (163) may be arranged side by side and spaced apart from each other. If the first end busbar is seated on the first bridge (162), the second end busbar may be seated on the second bridge (163). The spaced structure between the first bridge (162) and the second bridge (163) can structurally insulate the first end busbar and the second end busbar.

[0086] A second support member (155) may be exposed through the space (164) between the first bridge (162) and the second bridge (163).
