Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a cooling case structure for a solar-linked ESS, and more specifically, to a cooling case structure for a solar-linked ESS developed to efficiently cool a battery module equipped in an Energy Storage System (ESS) that stores electricity produced using solar power and can use it when electricity is needed. Background Technology

[0003] Recently, with the advancement of energy development technology, technologies utilizing wind, tidal, and solar energy are continuously being developed.

[0004] In particular, technology that generates electricity using solar energy involves collecting solar heat to generate electricity, and solar energy, which produces electricity from solar cells using sunlight, is widely used.

[0005] To use solar energy, a Power Conversion System (PCS) for an Energy Storage System (ESS) is used.

[0006] Energy Storage Systems (ESS, hereinafter referred to as 'ESS') are installed and utilized in power generation, transmission and distribution systems and are used for functions such as frequency regulation, stabilization of generator output using new and renewable energy, peak shaving, load leveling, and emergency power supply.

[0007] In addition, the energy storage system supplies power by discharging the stored power when power is needed. At this time, it is equipped with a Battery Conditioning System (BCS), and the installed batteries are equipped with a power converter having a power conversion element for charging and discharging power to supply power to the grid and converting direct current into alternating current.

[0008] In an Energy Storage System (ESS), the temperature inside the sealed battery pack can easily rise due to battery operation or solar radiation, and since the batteries used are vulnerable to heat, they can easily fail if continuously exposed to a high-temperature environment.

[0009] Therefore, continuous temperature management within the battery pack is necessary. While it is possible to manage the internal temperature using air conditioning systems by utilizing the power stored in the battery of the power storage device, it is advisable to use external power due to the very large amount of power consumed.

[0010] However, since these power storage devices are often installed in locations where it is difficult to supply external power, there was a problem in that they were difficult to use when the external power supply was intermittently interrupted.

[0011] Therefore, there was a need for a cooling system capable of sufficiently suppressing temperature rise even in environments where the internal temperature of the battery pack could rise significantly while using a continuously supplied, small power source.

[0012] In response to the demands of such realistic technology development, the applicant has developed an ESS cooling case structure capable of efficiently suppressing the temperature increase of the ESS battery while rapidly cooling it. Prior art literature
