[0038] First embodiment

[0039] FIG. 2 is a schematic plan view showing the first electrode, bank, and disconnection portion of subpixels in a light-emitting display device according to the first embodiment of the present specification. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along I-I' of FIG. 2. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view specifically illustrating an example of the configuration of the first electrode, the light-emitting element layer, and the second electrode in a light-emitting display device according to various examples of the present specification.

[0040] Referring to FIGS. 2 to 4 in conjunction with FIG. 1, the display panel (110) of the light-emitting display device according to the first embodiment of the present specification may include a first electrode (210), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220), a second electrode (230), and a disconnection portion (D) on a substrate (SUB) having a plurality of sub-pixel areas (or subpixel areas) within the display area (AA), which is divided into a display area (AA) and a non-display area (NA).

[0041] Data lines (DL) and gate lines (GL) intersecting with the data lines (DL) may be formed in the display area (AA) of the substrate (SUB), and a plurality of sub-pixel areas (or a plurality of sub-pixel areas) may be defined for each area where the data lines (DL) and the gate lines (GL) intersect, and a plurality of sub-pixels (SP) (or a plurality of sub-pixels) may be disposed in each area.

[0042] As illustrated in FIG. 2, a plurality of subpixels (SP) may include a first subpixel (SP1) (or first subpixel), a second subpixel (SP2) (or second subpixel), and a third subpixel (SP3) (or third subpixel). For example, the first subpixel (SP1) may emit blue light, the second subpixel (SP2) may emit red light, and the third subpixel (SP3) may emit green light, but is not necessarily limited thereto. A fourth subpixel emitting white (W) light may be further provided among the plurality of subpixels (SP). Additionally, the arrangement order of each subpixel (SP1, SP2, SP3) may be varied.

[0043] A first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210) to cover the edge portions of each of the first electrodes (210) and to define openings corresponding to the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The bank (250) may be formed of an inorganic film, for example, a silicon oxide film (SiOx), a silicon nitride film (SiNx), or a combination thereof, but is not necessarily limited thereto. The bank (250) may also be formed of an organic film such as an acrylic resin, an epoxy resin, a phenolic resin, a polyamide resin, or a polyimide resin. According to the first embodiment of the present specification, a disconnection portion (D) may be disposed in a bank (250) disposed at the boundary between a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The disconnection portion (D) may be formed by penetrating from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). Additionally, the disconnection portion (D) may include an undercut region (UC) between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250).

[0044] Referring to FIG. 3, a light-emitting display device according to the first embodiment of the present specification may include a substrate (SUB), a color filter layer (CF), an overcoat layer (OC), a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220) (e.g., an organic light-emitting diode), and a second electrode (230) (e.g., a cathode electrode or a common electrode).

[0045] The substrate (SUB) may be a plastic film, a glass substrate, or a silicon wafer substrate formed using a semiconductor process. The substrate (SUB) may be made of a transparent material or an opaque material. A light-emitting display device according to various examples of the present specification may be configured in a bottom emission manner in which light emitted from a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3) is emitted downward through the substrate (SUB) (image display). In this case, a transparent material may be used for the substrate (SUB). Additionally, a color filter layer (CF) may be disposed on the substrate (SUB) to correspond to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). For example, the first color filter layer (CF1) shown in FIG. 3 may be a blue color filter that transmits blue light, and the second color filter layer (CF2) may be a red color filter that transmits red light. Additionally, although not shown in the drawings, a green color filter that transmits green light may also be included. Meanwhile, when a light-emitting display device according to various examples of the present specification is configured in a top emission manner, the substrate (SUB) may be made of an opaque material, and the color filter layer (CF) may be formed on an encapsulation layer or on an opposing substrate that can be bonded to the substrate (SUB) by bonding.

[0046] Circuit elements, including various signal lines, thin-film transistors, and capacitors, may be formed on a substrate (SUB) for each of the multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The signal lines may include gate lines, data lines, power lines, and reference lines, and the thin-film transistors may include switching thin-film transistors, driving thin-film transistors, and sensing thin-film transistors. Although not shown in the drawing, at least one protective film may be formed on the circuit elements.

[0047] An overcoat layer (OC) (or flattening layer) may be disposed on the color filter layer (CF) on the substrate (SUB). The overcoat layer (OC) flattens the step difference on the underside and may be composed of organic materials such as photoacrylic, polyimide, benzocyclobutene resin, or acrylate resin.

[0048] A first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on the overcoat layer (OC). The first electrode (210) may be disposed on each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The first electrode (210) supplies current (or voltage) to the light-emitting element layer (220) and can define a light-emitting region of a predetermined area, i.e., a subpixel region. The first electrode (210) is made of a transparent conductive material and may include, for example, Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) or Indium Zinc Oxide (IZO), but is not necessarily limited thereto.

[0049] A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may cover the edge portion of the first electrode (210) and define an opening in the subpixel area. As shown in FIG. 2, the bank (250) may be disposed at the boundary between a first subpixel (SP1) and a second subpixel (SP2) having different colors, and may also be disposed at the boundary between adjacent multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3) of the same color corresponding to each of the multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The bank (250) may be formed in a shape that surrounds the edge of the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may be formed from an inorganic film deposited by a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) technique or an ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) technique, such as a silicon oxide film (SiOx), a silicon nitride film (SiNx), or a combination thereof, but is not necessarily limited thereto. Alternatively, the bank (250) may be formed of an organic film coated by vapor deposition, printing, slit coating, or ink-jet techniques, such as an acrylic resin, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyamide resin, polyimide resin, or a multilayer film thereof.

[0050] According to the first embodiment of the present specification, a bank (250) disposed at the boundary between a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3) may have a discontinuity (D). The discontinuity (D) may be formed by penetrating from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). Additionally, the discontinuity (D) may include an undercut region (UC) between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250). The undercut region (UC) of the discontinuity (D) may be disposed between the end of the first electrode (210), the overcoat layer (OC), and the bank (250).

[0051] According to various examples of the present specification, when a bank (250) is deposited as an inorganic film, the formation of a cut-off portion (D) can be achieved by performing a first etching process using a mask that covers the remaining portion excluding the upper surface of the bank (250) placed at the boundary between sub-pixel regions, thereby forming a cut-off portion (D) that penetrates from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). Then, while the mask remains, a second etching process can be performed to pattern the first electrode (210) exposed through the cut-off portion (D) on the bank (250), and an undercut region (UC) can be formed in the cut-off portion (D) by patterning it to go further inward than the side edge of the bank (250) that has penetrated through it via over-etching. The undercut region (UC) can be formed between the end of the first electrode (210), the overcoat layer (OC), and the bank (250). The step difference of the undercut region (UC) can correspond to the thickness of the first electrode (210), and the degree of discontinuity of the light-emitting element layer (220) subsequently formed can be controlled by adjusting the thickness of the first electrode (210).

[0052] According to various examples of the present specification, when the bank (250) is coated with an organic film, the formation of the cut-off portion (D) can be achieved by selectively removing the upper surface of the bank (250) located at the boundary between sub-pixel regions through a photolithography process to form a cut-off portion (D) that penetrates from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). Then, an etching process can be performed to pattern the first electrode (210) exposed through the cut-off portion (D) of the bank (250), and an undercut region (UC) can be formed in the cut-off portion (D) by patterning it to go further inward than the side edge of the bank (250) that has penetrated through it through over-etching.

[0053] After a disconnection portion (D) is formed on the bank (250), an opening defined to surround the edge of the first electrode (210) can be patterned for each of the multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The patterning of the opening can form an opening in which the first electrode (210) is exposed by an etching process using a mask that covers the remaining portion excluding the opening to be patterned.

[0054] A light-emitting element layer (220) may be disposed on the first electrodes (210), the bank (250), and the disconnection portion (D). According to various examples of the present specification, the light-emitting element layer (220) may be a white light-emitting layer that emits white light. In this case, the light-emitting element layer (220) may be a common layer formed in common on a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0055] When the light-emitting element layer (220) is a white light-emitting layer, it can be formed into a tandem structure of at least 2 stacks.

[0056] As shown in FIG. 4, the light-emitting element layer (220) may include a first stack (221) that emits light of a first color, a second stack (222) that emits light of a second color, and a charge generation layer (225, Charge Generation Layer; CGL) interposed between the first stack (221) and the second stack (222).

[0057] The first stack (221) may be disposed on the first electrode (210). The first stack (221) may be formed in a structure in which a hole injection layer (HIL), a hole transport layer (HTL), a first emitting layer (EML1) emitting light of a first color, and an electron transport layer (ETL) are stacked in sequence, but is not necessarily limited thereto. The first emitting layer (EML1) may be at least one of a red emitting layer emitting red light, a green emitting layer emitting green light, a blue emitting layer emitting blue light, and a yellow emitting layer emitting yellow light, but is not necessarily limited thereto.

[0058] The charge generation layer (225) may be placed on the first stack (221). The charge generation layer (225) may be formed in a stacked structure comprising an N-type charge generation layer for providing electrons to the first stack (221) and a P-type charge generation layer for providing holes to the second stack (222).

[0059] The second stack (222) may be disposed on the charge generation layer (225). The second stack (222) may be formed in a structure in which a hole injection layer (HIL), a hole transport layer (HTL), a second emitting layer (EML2) emitting light of a second color, and an electron transport layer (ETL) are stacked in sequence, but is not necessarily limited thereto. The second emitting layer (EML2) may be at least one of a red emitting layer emitting red light, a green emitting layer emitting green light, a blue emitting layer emitting blue light, and a yellow emitting layer emitting yellow light, but is not necessarily limited thereto. However, the second emitting layer (EML2) may emit light of a color different from that of the first emitting layer (EML2). For example, the first light-emitting layer (EML1) may be a blue light-emitting layer that emits blue light, and the second light-emitting layer (EML2) may be a yellow light-emitting layer that emits yellow light. As another example, the first light-emitting layer (EML1) may be a blue light-emitting layer that emits blue light, and the second light-emitting layer (EML2) may be a red light-emitting layer that emits red light or a green light-emitting layer that emits green light.

[0060] The second electrode (230) may be disposed on the second stack (222). The second electrode (230) may be a common layer formed in common on a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The second electrode (140) may be formed on the light-emitting element layer (220) to provide electrons to the light-emitting element layer (220).

[0061] Referring to FIG. 3, the first stack (221) may be separated within the separation portion (D) of the bank (250). The first stack (221) may be separated by an undercut region (UC) of the separation portion (D). A portion of the first stack (221) may be formed on the bank (250) and on the side of the bank (250) by the separation portion (D). The portion of the first stack (221) formed on the bank (250) and on the side of the bank (250) by the separation portion (D) may be a light-emitting pattern that is in contact with the first electrode (210) without being separated and can emit light.

[0062] Additionally, another part of the first stack (221) may be formed on an overcoat layer (OC) exposed through the disconnection part (D), which is disconnected by an undercut region (UC) of the disconnection part (D). The other part of the first stack (221) formed on the overcoat layer (OC) may be a non-luminous pattern that cannot emit light, as it is electrically separated from the light-emitting pattern and does not come into contact with the first electrode (210), which is positioned further inward than the side edge of the bank (250) by the gap of the undercut region (UC). At this time, the step (t1) of the undercut region (UC) can be adjusted within a range where the first stack (221) can be disconnected but the second electrode (230) is not disconnected. Additionally, the width (w) of the gap of the undercut region (UC) may be greater than the thickness of the first stack (221). The step (t1) of the undercut region (UC) can be controlled by the thickness of the first electrode (210), and the first electrode (210) can have a thickness in a range such that the first stack (221) can be severed while the second electrode (230) is not severed. For example, the thickness of the first electrode (210) can be greater than half the thickness of the first stack (221). For example, the thickness of the first electrode (210) can have a thickness in the range of 500 Å to 2000 Å, but is not necessarily limited thereto. In addition, the gap width (w) of the undercut region (UC) can be controlled by the degree of over-etching, and the degree of over-etching can be controlled to be greater than the thickness of the first stack (221).

[0063] The charge generation layer (225) may be separated within the separation portion (D) of the bank (250). The charge generation layer (225) may be separated by an undercut region (UC) of the separation portion (D). A portion of the charge generation layer (225) may be formed on the bank (250) and on the side of the bank (250) by the separation portion (D). A portion of the charge generation layer (225) formed on the bank (250) and on the side of the bank (250) by the separation portion (D) may be a charge generation pattern capable of providing electrons or holes between the first stack (221) and the second stack (222).

[0064] Additionally, another part of the charge generation layer (225) may be formed on the first stack (221), i.e., the non-luminous pattern, which is separated by the undercut region (UC) of the cut section (D) and exposed through the cut section (D). The other part of the charge generation layer (225) formed on the non-luminous pattern may be a charge non-generation pattern that is electrically separated from the charge generation pattern and cannot provide electrons or holes, and is not in contact with the first electrode (210) which is recessed further inward than the side edge of the bank (250) by the gap of the undercut region (UC).

[0065] At this time, the step (t1) of the undercut region (UC) can be adjusted within a range where the first stack (221) and the charge generation layer (225) can be severed, but the second electrode (230) is not severed. Additionally, the width (w) of the gap in the undercut region (UC) can be greater than the sum of the thickness of the first stack (221) and the thickness of the charge generation layer (225). The step (t1) of the undercut region (UC) can be adjusted by the thickness of the first electrode (210), and the first electrode (210) can have a thickness within a range where the first stack (221) and the charge generation layer (225) can be severed, but the second electrode (230) is not severed. For example, the thickness of the first electrode (210) can be greater than half of the sum of the thicknesses of the first stack (221) and the charge generation layer (225). For example, the thickness of the first electrode (210) may have a thickness in the range of 500 Å to 2000 Å, but is not necessarily limited thereto. Additionally, the gap width of the undercut region (UC) can be controlled by the degree of over-etching, and the degree of over-etching can be controlled to be greater than the sum of the thickness of the first stack (221) and the thickness of the charge generation layer (225).

[0066] The second stack (222) may not be interrupted within the cut section (D) of the bank (250). The second stack (222) may be continuously extended without interruption from the first subpixel (SP1) region to the second subpixel (SP2) region by the step difference mitigated by the first stack (221) formed within the cut section (D) and the charge generation layer (225), but is not necessarily limited thereto. The second stack (222) may also be interrupted within the cut section (D) by making the height of the first electrode (210) larger to increase the step difference of the undercut region (UC) of the cut section (D). The height of the first electrode (210) may be adjusted to the extent that the second electrode (230) to be placed on the light-emitting element layer (220) is not interrupted.

[0067] The second electrode (230) may be placed on the second stack (222). The second electrode (230) is not interrupted within the disconnection portion (D) of the bank (250) and may be continuously extended without interruption from the first subpixel (SP1) region to the second subpixel (SP2) region by a step mitigated by the first stack (221), the charge generation layer (225), and the second stack (222) formed within the disconnection portion (D).

[0068] 2nd embodiment

[0069] FIG. 5 is a schematic plan view showing the first electrode, bank, and disconnection portion of subpixels in a light-emitting display device according to a second embodiment of the present specification. FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along II-II' of FIG. 5. FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view specifically illustrating another example of the configuration of the first electrode, the light-emitting element layer, and the second electrode in a light-emitting display device according to various examples of the present specification.

[0070] Referring to FIGS. 5 to 7 in conjunction with FIGS. 1, a display panel (110) of a light-emitting display device according to the second embodiment of the present specification may include a first electrode (210), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220), a second electrode (230), and a disconnection portion (D) on a substrate (SUB) having a plurality of sub-pixel areas (or subpixel areas) within the display area (AA), which is divided into a display area (AA) and a non-display area (NA).

[0071] Since the components of the light-emitting display device according to the second embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7, excluding the structure of the first electrode (210), the structure of the light-emitting element layer (220), and the structure of the bank (250), are substantially identical to the components of the light-emitting display device according to the first embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 4, a detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0072] The light-emitting display device according to the second embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7 differs from the first electrode (210) illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3 in that the thickness of the first electrode (210) is adjusted to be greater than the thickness of the first electrode (210) illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3. As the thickness of the first electrode (210) increases, the stack of the applied light-emitting element layer (220) may also change, and the light-emitting element layer (220) may include a first stack (221), a first charge generating layer (225), a second stack (222), a second charge generating layer (226), and a third stack (223). In addition, as the thickness of the first electrode (210) increases, a structure is employed to prevent the second electrode (230) from being disconnected at the boundary with an adjacent subpixel.

[0073] Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, a light-emitting display device according to a second embodiment of the present specification may include a substrate (SUB), a color filter layer (CF), an overcoat layer (OC), a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220) (e.g., an organic light-emitting diode), and a second electrode (230) (e.g., a cathode electrode or a common electrode).

[0074] On the substrate (SUB), circuit elements including various signal lines, thin-film transistors, and capacitors may be formed for each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3), and a color filter layer (CF) may be disposed to correspond to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0075] An overcoat layer (OC) (or planarization layer) may be disposed on a color filter layer (CF) on a substrate (SUB), and a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on the overcoat layer (OC).

[0076] A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may cover the edge portion of the first electrode (210) and define an opening in the subpixel area. As shown in FIG. 5, the bank (250) may be disposed covering the edge portion of each of the first electrodes (210) between the first subpixel (SP1) and the second subpixel (SP2), the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3), and the third subpixel (SP3) and the first subpixel (SP1). Additionally, the bank may be configured as bankless, in which no bank (250) is disposed on the first electrodes (210) between adjacent subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3) of the same color corresponding to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The bank (250) can be formed of an inorganic film, for example, a silicon oxide film (SiOx), a silicon nitride film (SiNx), or a multilayer film thereof.

[0077] According to the second embodiment of the present specification, a disconnection portion (D) may be disposed in a bank (250) disposed at the boundary between a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The disconnection portion (D) may be formed by penetrating from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). Additionally, the disconnection portion (D) may include an undercut region (UC) between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250). The undercut region (UC) of the disconnection portion (D) may be disposed between the end of the first electrode (210), the overcoat layer (OC), and the bank (250).

[0078] A light-emitting element layer (220) may be disposed on the first electrodes (210), the bank (250), and the disconnection portion (D). According to various examples of the present specification, the light-emitting element layer (220) may be a white light-emitting layer that emits white light. In this case, the light-emitting element layer (220) may be a common layer formed in common on a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0079] When the light-emitting element layer (220) is a white light-emitting layer, it can be formed into a tandem structure of at least 3 stacks.

[0080] As shown in FIG. 7, the light-emitting element layer (220) may include a first stack (221) that emits light of a first color, a second stack (222) that emits light of a second color, a third stack (223) that emits light of a third color, a first charge generation layer (225, Charge Generation Layer; CGL1) interposed between the first stack (221) and the second stack (222), and a second charge generation layer (226, CGL2) interposed between the second stack (222) and the third stack (223).

[0081] The first stack (221) may be disposed on the first electrode (210) and may be formed in a structure in which a hole injection layer (HIL), a hole transport layer (HTL), a first emitting layer (EML1) emitting light of a first color, and an electron transport layer (ETL) are stacked in sequence, but is not necessarily limited thereto. The first emitting layer (EML1) may be at least one of a red emitting layer emitting red light, a green emitting layer emitting green light, and a blue emitting layer emitting blue light, but is not necessarily limited thereto.

[0082] The first charge generating layer (225) can be placed on the first stack (221), and the second stack (222) can be placed on the first charge generating layer (225).

[0083] The second stack (222) may be structured such that a hole injection layer (HIL), a hole transport layer (HTL), a second emitting layer (EML2) that emits light of a second color, and an electron transport layer (ETL) are stacked in sequence, but is not necessarily limited thereto.

[0084] The second light-emitting layer (EML2) may be at least one of a red light-emitting layer that emits red light, a green light-emitting layer that emits green light, and a blue light-emitting layer that emits blue light, but is not necessarily limited thereto. However, the second light-emitting layer (EML2) may emit light of a color different from that of the first light-emitting layer (EML1).

[0085] The second charge generating layer (226) can be placed on the second stack (222), and the third stack (223) can be placed on the second charge generating layer (226).

[0086] The third stack (223) may be structured such that a hole injection layer (HIL), a hole transport layer (HTL), a third emitting layer (EML3) that emits light of a third color, and an electron transport layer (ETL) are stacked in sequence, but is not necessarily limited thereto.

[0087] The third light-emitting layer (EML3) may be at least one of a red light-emitting layer emitting red light, a green light-emitting layer emitting green light, and a blue light-emitting layer emitting blue light, but is not necessarily limited thereto. However, the third light-emitting layer (EML3) may emit light of a color different from that of the first light-emitting layer (EML1) and the second light-emitting layer (EML2). For example, the first light-emitting layer (EML1) may be a blue light-emitting layer emitting blue light, the second light-emitting layer (EML2) may be a blue light-emitting layer emitting red light, and the third light-emitting layer (EML3) may be a blue light-emitting layer emitting green light. The order of colors emitted by the first light-emitting layer (EML1), the second light-emitting layer (EML2), and the third light-emitting layer (EML3) may be varied.

[0088] The second electrode (230) may be placed on the third stack (223). The second electrode (230) may be a common layer formed in common on a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The second electrode (140) may be formed on the light-emitting element layer (220) to provide electrons to the light-emitting element layer (220).

[0089] Referring to FIG. 6, the first stack (221) can be cut within the cut portion (D) of the bank (250). The first stack (221) can be cut by an undercut region (UC) of the cut portion (D).

[0090] The first charge generation layer (225) can be disconnected within the disconnection portion (D) of the bank (250). The charge generation layer (225) can be disconnected by an undercut region (UC) of the disconnection portion (D).

[0091] The second stack (222) can be cut off within the cut section (D) of the bank (250). The second stack (222) can be cut off by the undercut area (UC) of the cut section (D).

[0092] The second charge generation layer (226) can be disconnected within the disconnection portion (D) of the bank (250). The charge generation layer (225) can be disconnected by the undercut region (UC) of the disconnection portion (D).

[0093] At this time, the step (t2) of the undercut region (UC) can be adjusted so that the first stack (221), the first charge generating layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generating layer (226) can be separated. The step (t2) of the undercut region (UC) can be adjusted by the thickness of the first electrode (210), and the first electrode (210) can have a thickness such that the first stack (221), the first charge generating layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generating layer (226) can be separated. For example, the thickness of the first electrode (210) can be greater than 1 / 2 of the sum of the thicknesses of the first stack (221), the first charge generating layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generating layer (226). For example, the thickness of the first electrode (210) may have a thickness in the range of 1000 Å to 5000 Å, but is not necessarily limited thereto. Additionally, the gap width of the undercut region (UC) can be controlled by the degree of over-etching, and the degree of over-etching can be controlled to be greater than the sum of the thickness of the first stack (221), the thickness of the first charge generation layer (225), the thickness of the second stack (222), and the thickness of the second charge generation layer (226).

[0094] The third stack (223) may not be interrupted within the cut section (D) of the bank (250). The third stack (223) may be continuously extended without interruption from the first subpixel (SP1) region to the second subpixel (SP2) region by a step difference mitigated by the first stack (221), the first charge generation layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generation layer (226) formed within the cut section (D), but is not necessarily limited thereto. The third stack (223) may also be interrupted within the cut section (D) by making the height of the first electrode (210) larger to increase the step difference of the undercut region (UC) of the cut section (D). The height of the first electrode (210) may be adjusted to the extent that the second electrode (230) to be placed on the light-emitting element layer (220) is not interrupted.

[0095] Third embodiment

[0096] FIG. 8 is a schematic plan view showing the first electrode, bank, and groove of subpixels in a light-emitting display device according to the third embodiment of the present specification. FIG. 9 is a cross-sectional view taken along III-III' of FIG. 8.

[0097] Referring to FIGS. 8 and 9 in conjunction with FIGS. 1 and FIGS. 7, the display panel (110) of the light-emitting display device according to the third embodiment of the present specification may include a first electrode (210), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220), a second electrode (230), and a groove (G) on an overcoat layer (OC) exposed by a disconnection portion (D) on the bank (250), on a substrate (SUB) having a plurality of sub-pixel areas (or subpixel areas) within the display area (AA), which is divided into a display area (AA) and a non-display area (NA).

[0098] Since the components of the light-emitting display device according to the third embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, excluding the structure in which a groove (G) is formed on an overcoat layer (OC) exposed by a disconnection portion (D) on a bank (250), are substantially identical to the components of the light-emitting display device according to the first embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 2 to 4 or the second embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 5 to 7, a detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0099] The light-emitting display device according to the third embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 8 and 9 differs from the light-emitting display device illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 4, or FIGS. 5 to 7, in that a groove (G) is formed on the overcoat layer (OC) exposed by the disconnection portion (D) on the bank (250).

[0100] Referring to FIGS. 8 and 9, a light-emitting display device according to the third embodiment of the present specification may include a substrate (SUB), a color filter layer (CF), an overcoat layer (OC), a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220) (e.g., an organic light-emitting diode), a second electrode (230) (e.g., a cathode electrode or a common electrode), and a groove (G) on the overcoat layer (OC).

[0101] On the substrate (SUB), circuit elements including various signal lines, thin-film transistors, and capacitors may be formed for each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3), and a color filter layer (CF) may be disposed to correspond to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0102] An overcoat layer (OC) (or planarization layer) may be disposed on a color filter layer (CF) on a substrate (SUB), and a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on the overcoat layer (OC).

[0103] A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may cover the edge portion of the first electrode (210) and define an opening in the subpixel area. As shown in FIG. 8, the bank (250) may be disposed covering the edge portion of each of the first electrodes (210) between the first subpixel (SP1) and the second subpixel (SP2), the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3), and the third subpixel (SP3) and the first subpixel (SP1).

[0104] According to the third embodiment of the present specification, a groove (G) of a certain depth may be formed on an overcoat layer (OC) exposed by a disconnection portion (D) of a bank (250) disposed at the boundary between a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). Additionally, the disconnection portion (D) may include an undercut region (UC) between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250). The undercut region (UC) of the disconnection portion (D) may be disposed between the end of the first electrode (210), the overcoat layer (OC), and the bank (250).

[0105] According to various examples of the present specification, when a bank (250) is deposited as an inorganic film, the formation of a groove (G) can be achieved by performing a first etching process using a mask that covers the remaining portion excluding the upper surface of the bank (250) placed at the boundary between sub-pixel regions, thereby forming a cut portion (D) that penetrates from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). Then, while the mask remains, a second etching process can be performed to pattern the first electrode (210) exposed through the cut portion (D) on the bank (250), and an undercut region (UC) can be formed in the cut portion (D) by patterning it to go further inward than the side edge of the bank (250) that has penetrated through it by over-etching. Then, with the above mask remaining, a third etching process can be performed to form a groove (G) of a certain depth on the overcoat layer (OC) exposed through the cut portion (D) on the bank (250) and the first electrode (210) removed by over-etching. Since a step difference can be additionally secured by the groove (G) on the overcoat layer (OC), the thickness of the first electrode (210) can be adjusted to be small. The undercut region (UC) of the cut portion (D) can be positioned between the end of the first electrode (210), the groove (G), and the bank (250).

[0106] A light-emitting element layer (220) may be disposed on the first electrodes (210), the bank (250), and the groove (G). According to various examples of the present specification, the light-emitting element layer (220) may be a white light-emitting layer that emits white light and may be formed in a tandem structure of at least 3 stacks, as shown in FIG. 7.

[0107] Referring to FIG. 9, the first stack (221) can be separated by the step difference between the undercut area (UC) of the bank (250) and the groove (G).

[0108] The first charge generation layer (225) can be separated by the step difference between the undercut region (UC) and the groove (G) of the bank (250).

[0109] The second stack (222) can be separated by the difference in height between the undercut area (UC) and the groove (G) of the bank (250).

[0110] The second charge generation layer (226) can be separated by the step difference between the undercut region (UC) and the groove (G) of the bank (250).

[0111] At this time, the step difference (t3) between the undercut region (UC) and the groove (G) of the bank (250) can be adjusted so that the first stack (221), the first charge generation layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generation layer (226) can be separated. The step difference of the undercut region (UC) can be adjusted by the thickness of the first electrode (210), and the step difference of the groove (G) can be adjusted by the degree of etching, and the sum of the thickness of the first electrode (210) and the step difference of the groove (G) can have a size such that the first stack (221), the first charge generation layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generation layer (226) can be separated. For example, the sum of the thickness of the first electrode (210) and the step height of the groove (G) may be greater than 1 / 2 of the sum of the thicknesses of the first stack (221), the first charge generating layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generating layer (226). For example, the step height of the groove (G) may be 2000 Å to 1 μm, and the thickness of the first electrode (210) may be in the range of 500 Å to 2000 Å, but is not necessarily limited thereto.

[0112] The third stack (223) may not be interrupted by the step difference (t3) between the undercut region (UC) and the groove (G). The third stack (223) may be continuously extended without interruption from the first subpixel (SP1) region to the second subpixel (SP2) region by the step difference mitigated by the first stack (221), the first charge generation layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generation layer (226) formed on the groove (G), but is not necessarily limited thereto. The third stack (223) may also be interrupted by the step difference between the undercut region (UC) and the groove (G) by making the height of the first electrode (210) larger or making the depth of the groove (G) larger.

[0113] 4th embodiment

[0114] FIG. 10 is a schematic plan view showing the first electrode, first bank, groove, and second bank of subpixels in a light-emitting display device according to the fourth embodiment of the present specification. FIG. 11 is a cross-sectional view taken along IV-IV' of FIG. 10.

[0115] Referring to FIGS. 10 and FIGS. 11 in conjunction with FIGS. 1 and FIGS. 7, the display panel (110) of the light-emitting display device according to the fourth embodiment of the present specification may include a first electrode (210), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220), a second electrode (230), a groove (G) on an overcoat layer (OC) exposed by a cut-off portion (D) on the bank (250), and a second bank (255) added on the bank (250), on a substrate (SUB) having a plurality of sub-pixel areas (or subpixel areas) within the display area (AA).

[0116] Since the light-emitting display device according to the fourth embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIG. 10 and FIG. 11 has configurations that are substantially identical to the configurations of the light-emitting display device according to the first embodiment, the second embodiment, or the third embodiment, excluding the structure of the second bank (255) on the bank (250), a detailed description thereof is omitted.

[0117] Referring to FIG. 10 and FIG. 11, a light-emitting display device according to the fourth embodiment of the present specification may include a substrate (SUB), a color filter layer (CF), an overcoat layer (OC), a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220) (e.g., an organic light-emitting diode), a second electrode (230) (e.g., a cathode electrode or a common electrode), a groove (G) on the overcoat layer (OC), and a second bank (255) added on the bank (250).

[0118] On the substrate (SUB), circuit elements including various signal lines, thin-film transistors, and capacitors may be formed for each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3), and a color filter layer (CF) may be disposed to correspond to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0119] An overcoat layer (OC) (or planarization layer) may be disposed on a color filter layer (CF) on a substrate (SUB), and a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on the overcoat layer (OC).

[0120] A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may cover the edge portion of the first electrode (210) and define an opening in the subpixel area. As shown in FIG. 10, the bank (250) may be disposed at the boundary between a first subpixel (SP1) and a second subpixel (SP2) having different colors, and may also be disposed at the boundary between adjacent subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3) of the same color corresponding to each of the multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The bank (250) may be formed in a shape that surrounds the edge of the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may be formed of an organic film coated by vapor deposition, printing, slit coating, or ink-jet techniques, such as an acrylic resin, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyamide resin, polyimide resin, or a multilayer film thereof.

[0121] According to the fourth embodiment of the present specification, a groove (G) of a certain depth may be formed on an overcoat layer (OC) exposed by a disconnection portion (D) of a bank (250) disposed at the boundary between a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). Additionally, the disconnection portion (D) may include an undercut region (UC) between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250). The undercut region (UC) of the disconnection portion (D) may be disposed between the end of the first electrode (210), the overcoat layer (OC), and the bank (250).

[0122] According to the fourth embodiment of the present specification, in order to prevent the second electrode (230) from being severed by the bank (250) placed at the boundary between a plurality of adjacent subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3) of the same color, the undercut region (UC) of the bank (250), and the groove (G) of the overcoat layer (OC), a second bank (255) may be placed on the bank (250) of the area, the undercut region (UC) of the bank (250), and the groove (G) of the overcoat layer (OC). The second electrode (230) may be prevented from being severed by the step difference that is mitigated in a step shape by the second bank (255).

[0123] Fifth embodiment

[0124] FIG. 12 is a schematic plan view showing the first electrode, bank, and disconnection portion of subpixels in a light-emitting display device according to the fifth embodiment of the present specification. FIG. 13 is a cross-sectional view taken along V-V' of FIG. 12.

[0125] Referring to FIGS. 12 and FIGS. 13 in conjunction with FIGS. 1, the display panel (110) of the light-emitting display device according to the fifth embodiment of the present specification may be divided into a display area (AA) and a non-display area (NA). The display panel (110) may include a substrate (SUB) having a plurality of sub-pixel areas (or subpixel areas) within the display area (AA), a first electrode (210), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220), a second electrode (230), and a disconnection portion (D) on the bank (250) disposed on the substrate (SUB).

[0126] Since the components of the light-emitting display device according to the fifth embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 12 and 13, excluding the structure of the first electrode (210), the structure of the light-emitting element layer (220), and the structure of the bank (250), are substantially identical to the components of the light-emitting display device according to the second embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 5 to 7, a detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0127] The light-emitting display device according to the fifth embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 12 and 13 differs from the structure of the disconnection part (D) illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7 in that the disconnection part (D) including the undercut region (UC) is located only in some of the regions between the subpixels.

[0128] Referring to FIGS. 12 and 13, it may include a substrate (SUB), a color filter layer (CF), an overcoat layer (OC), a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220) (e.g., an organic light-emitting diode), and a second electrode (230) (e.g., a cathode electrode or a common electrode).

[0129] Circuit elements including various signal lines, thin-film transistors, and capacitors may be formed on a substrate (SUB) for each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). A color filter layer (CF) may be arranged to correspond to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). For example, the first color filter layer (CF1) may be a blue color filter that transmits blue light. The second color filter layer (CF2) may be a red color filter that transmits red light. The third color filter layer (CF3) may be a green color filter that transmits green light.

[0130] An overcoat layer (OC) (or planarization layer) may be disposed on the color filter layer (CF) on the substrate (SUB). A first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on the overcoat layer (OC).

[0131] A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may cover the edge portion of the first electrode (210) and define an opening in a sub-pixel area. The bank (250) may include an opening located in part of the boundary between sub-pixel areas. A discontinuity (D) may be located in the opening of the bank (250) located in the boundary between sub-pixel areas.

[0132] The disconnection portion (D) may be located only in some of the regions between multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0133] For example, the disconnection part (D) may be located between the first subpixel (SP1) and the second subpixel (SP2). The disconnection part (D) may be located between the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3). The disconnection part (D) may not be located between the third subpixel (SP3) and the first subpixel (SP1).

[0134] The disconnection portion (D) may be formed by penetrating from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). The disconnection portion (D) may include an undercut region (UC) formed between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250). The undercut region (UC) may be located only in an area adjacent to one of the subpixels located on both sides of the disconnection portion (D).

[0135] For example, a disconnection portion (D) located between a first subpixel (SP1) and a second subpixel (SP2) may include an undercut region (UC) formed by the first electrode (210) of the second subpixel (SP2) and the bank (250). An undercut region (UC) may not be located on one side of the first subpixel (SP1). The outer surface of the first electrode (210) of the first subpixel (SP1) may be wrapped and positioned by the bank (250).

[0136] The disconnection portion (D) located between the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3) may include an undercut region (UC) formed by the first electrode (210) of the second subpixel (SP2) and the bank (250). An undercut region (UC) may not be located on one side of the third subpixel (SP3). The outer surface of the first electrode (210) of the third subpixel (SP3) may be wrapped and positioned by the bank (250).

[0137] A bank (250) placed in the area between the third subpixel (SP3) and the first subpixel (SP1) may not include a disconnection portion (D). The bank (250) may be placed in the edge portion of the first electrode (210) of the third subpixel (SP3), the edge portion of the first electrode (210) of the first subpixel (SP1), and the area between the third subpixel (SP3) and the first subpixel (SP1).

[0138] The bank (250) may be positioned to completely surround the edge portion of the first electrode (210) of the first subpixel (SP1). The bank (250) may be positioned to completely surround the edge portion of the first electrode (210) of the third subpixel (SP3).

[0139] Since an undercut region (UC) is located on both sides of the first electrode (210) of the second subpixel (SP2), at least a portion of the light-emitting element layer (220) placed in the undercut region (UC) can be cut off.

[0140] The first stack (221), the first charge generating layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generating layer (226) of the light-emitting element layer (220) may be disconnected in the undercut region (UC) of the disconnection portion (D) located between the second subpixel (SP2) and the first subpixel (SP1). The light-emitting element layer (250) may be continuously arranged without disconnection on the bank (250) covering the first electrode (210) of the first subpixel (SP1) where the undercut region (UC) is not located.

[0141] In the undercut region (UC) of the disconnection portion (D) located between the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3), the first stack (221), the first charge generating layer (225), the second stack (222), and the second charge generating layer (226) of the light-emitting element layer (220) may be disconnected. On the bank (250) covering the first electrode (210) of the third subpixel (SP3) where the undercut region (UC) is not located, the light-emitting element layer (250) may be arranged continuously without being disconnected.

[0142] In the structure in which a part of the light-emitting element layer (220) is severed at the severed portion (D), leakage current flowing from the second sub-pixel (SP2) to the first sub-pixel (SP1) and the third sub-pixel (SP3) can be blocked. Additionally, leakage current flowing from the first sub-pixel (SP1) and the third sub-pixel (SP3) to the second sub-pixel (SP2) can be blocked.

[0143] Since the leakage current flowing to adjacent subpixels is blocked, the light-emitting element layer (220) of another subpixel can be prevented from emitting light by the current driving the light-emitting element layer (220) of an adjacent subpixel.

[0144] Since the edge portion of the first electrode (210) where the undercut region (UC) is not formed in the cut portion (D) is covered by the bank (250), it is possible to prevent damage to the edge portion of the first electrode (210) or the upper surface of the overcoat layer (OC) located on one side of the first electrode (210) during the etching process that forms the undercut region (UC).

[0145] While preventing abnormalities in display driving caused by leakage current flowing to adjacent subpixels, defects that may occur during the process of the first electrode (210) and bank (250) can also be minimized.

[0146] The subpixel where the undercut area (UC) is located may be a subpixel that emits a specific color.

[0147] For example, the second subpixel (SP2) may be an area that emits red light or blue light. The first subpixel (SP1) and the third subpixel (SP3) may be areas that emit light other than red light or blue light, and may be areas that emit green light or white light.

[0148] Due to leakage of current supplied to a subpixel emitting red or blue light, a subpixel emitting green or white light may be prevented from emitting light.

[0149] It is possible to prevent a subpixel emitting green or white light, which has high visual perception characteristics, from malfunctioning due to leakage current from an adjacent subpixel. It is also possible to prevent display driving abnormalities, such as color coordinate fluctuations, caused by leakage current between adjacent subpixels.

[0150] In addition, since the undercut area (UC) is formed only on the sides of some subpixels, defects occurring on the sides of the subpixels during the process of forming the undercut area (UC) can also be minimized.

[0151] 6th embodiment

[0152] FIG. 14 is a schematic plan view showing the first electrode, bank, and disconnection portion of subpixels in a light-emitting display device according to the sixth embodiment of the present specification. FIG. 15 is a cross-sectional view taken along VI-VI' of FIG. 14.

[0153] Referring to FIGS. 14 and FIGS. 15 in conjunction with FIGS. 1, the display panel (110) of the light-emitting display device according to the sixth embodiment of the present specification may be divided into a display area (AA) and a non-display area (NA).

[0154] Since the components of the light-emitting display device according to the 6th embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 14 and 15, excluding the structure of the first electrode (210), the structure of the light-emitting element layer (220), and the structure of the bank (250), are substantially identical to the components of the light-emitting display device according to the 2nd embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 5 to 7 or the components of the light-emitting display device according to the 5th embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 12 and 13, a detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0155] The light-emitting display device according to the sixth embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 14 and 15 differs from the structure of the disconnection part (D) illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7 in that the disconnection part (D) including the undercut region (UC) is located only in some of the regions between the subpixels. The light-emitting display device according to the sixth embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 14 and 15 differs from the structure of the disconnection part (D) illustrated in FIGS. 12 and 13 in that the disconnection part (D) including the undercut region (UC) is located surrounding the perimeter of the subpixel.

[0156] Referring to FIGS. 14 and 15, it may include a substrate (SUB), a color filter layer (CF), an overcoat layer (OC), a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220) (e.g., an organic light-emitting diode), and a second electrode (230) (e.g., a cathode electrode or a common electrode).

[0157] Circuit elements including various signal lines, thin-film transistors, and capacitors can be formed on the substrate (SUB) for each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). A color filter layer (CF) can be arranged to correspond to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0158] An overcoat layer (OC) (or planarization layer) may be disposed on the color filter layer (CF) on the substrate (SUB). A first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on the overcoat layer (OC).

[0159] A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210).

[0160] The disconnection portion (D) may be located only at the boundary of some of the multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0161] For example, the disconnection portion (D) may be located around the perimeter of the second subpixel (SP2). The disconnection portion (D) may not be located in an area adjacent to the first subpixel (SP1) or the third subpixel (SP3).

[0162] The disconnection portion (D) may be formed by penetrating from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). The disconnection portion (D) may include an undercut region (UC) formed between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250). The undercut region (UC) may be located only around some subpixels.

[0163] For example, a discontinuity (D) positioned around the perimeter of a second subpixel (SP2) may include an undercut region (UC) formed by the first electrode (210) of the second subpixel (SP2) and the bank (250). The undercut region (UC) may be positioned around the perimeter of the first electrode (210) of the second subpixel (SP2).

[0164] The perimeter of the first electrode (210) of the first subpixel (SP1) can be wrapped by a bank (250). The perimeter of the first electrode (210) of the third subpixel (SP3) can be wrapped by a bank (250).

[0165] Since an undercut area is located around the periphery of the second subpixel (SP2), leakage current flowing from the second subpixel (SP2) to surrounding subpixels can be prevented. Leakage current flowing from surrounding subpixels to the second subpixel (SP2) can be prevented.

[0166] Since the undercut area is positioned to surround the perimeter of the second subpixel (SP2), leakage current can be prevented from flowing to surrounding subpixels through the area between the second subpixels (SP2) in a structure where the second subpixels (SP2) are placed in the same column.

[0167] Alternatively, in a structure where a second subpixel (SP2) and other subpixels are alternately arranged in a column, leakage current may be prevented from flowing in the column direction and entering into surrounding subpixels. FIGS. 14 and 15 illustrate an example in which a third subpixel (SP3) is located above the second subpixel (SP2), thereby preventing leakage current from the second subpixel (SP2) from entering into surrounding subpixels that emit light of a different color.

[0168] It is possible to prevent display quality degradation caused by leakage current in specific subpixels. Since undercut regions (UC) are not formed in the surrounding subpixels of a specific subpixel, defects occurring during the process of forming undercut regions (UC) can be minimized.

[0169] The second subpixel (SP2) may be a subpixel that emits light of a specific color. For example, the second subpixel (SP2) may be a subpixel that emits red light or blue light. Due to the leakage current of the subpixel emitting red light or blue light, the subpixel displaying the other color may be prevented from emitting light.

[0170] In some cases, an undercut region (UC) may be located around a subpixel emitting green light or white light to block leakage current flowing into the green light or white light. However, as in the example above, the undercut region (UC) that blocks leakage current may be located adjacent to a subpixel emitting red light or blue light to enhance the effect of blocking leakage current flow into the subpixel emitting green light or white light.

[0171] 7th embodiment

[0172] FIG. 16 is a schematic plan view showing the first electrode, bank, and disconnection portion of subpixels in a light-emitting display device according to the seventh embodiment of the present specification. FIG. 17 is a cross-sectional view taken along VII-VII' of FIG. 16.

[0173] Referring to FIGS. 16 and FIGS. 17 in conjunction with FIGS. 1, the display panel (1100) of the light-emitting display device according to the seventh embodiment of the present specification may be divided into a display area (AA) and a non-display area (NA).

[0174] Since the components of the light-emitting display device according to the seventh embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 16 and 17, excluding the structure of the first electrode (210), the structure of the light-emitting element layer (220), and the structure of the bank (250), are substantially identical to the components of the light-emitting display device according to the second embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 5 to 7 or the components of the light-emitting display device according to the fifth embodiment of the present specification shown in FIGS. 12 and 13, a detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0175] The light-emitting display device according to the seventh embodiment of the present specification illustrated in FIGS. 16 and 17 differs from the structure of the disconnection portion (D) and undercut portion (UC) illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7 or the structure of the disconnection portion (D) and undercut portion (UC) illustrated in FIGS. 12 and 13 in that the undercut portion (UC) is not formed in some of the periphery of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0176] Referring to FIGS. 16 and 17, it may include a substrate (SUB), a color filter layer (CF), an overcoat layer (OC), a first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode), a bank (250), a light-emitting element layer (220) (e.g., an organic light-emitting diode), and a second electrode (230) (e.g., a cathode electrode or a common electrode).

[0177] Circuit elements including various signal lines, thin-film transistors, and capacitors can be formed on the substrate (SUB) for each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). A color filter layer (CF) can be arranged to correspond to each of the plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0178] An overcoat layer (OC) (or planarization layer) may be disposed on the color filter layer (CF) on the substrate (SUB). A first electrode (210) (e.g., an anode electrode or a pixel electrode) may be disposed on the overcoat layer (OC).

[0179] A bank (250) may be disposed on the first electrode (210). The bank (250) may cover the edge portion of the first electrode (210) and define an opening in a sub-pixel area. The bank (250) may include an opening located at the boundary between sub-pixel areas. A discontinuity (D) may be located at the opening of the bank (250) located at the boundary between sub-pixel areas.

[0180] The disconnection part (D) can be located between each of the multiple subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3).

[0181] The disconnection portion (D) may be formed by penetrating from the upper surface of the bank (250) to the lower surface of the bank (250). The disconnection portion (D) may include an undercut region (UC) formed between the first electrode (210) and the bank (250). The disconnection portion (D) may include a plurality of undercut regions (UC) adjacent to each of the subpixels located on both sides. Alternatively, the disconnection portion (D) may include only an undercut region (UC) adjacent to one of the subpixels located on both sides. In this case, an undercut region (UC) may not be located in the region adjacent to the other of the subpixels located on both sides of the disconnection portion (D).

[0182] For example, referring to FIG. 17, the disconnection portion (D) located between the first subpixel (SP1) and the second subpixel (SP2) may include an undercut area (UC) formed by the first electrode (210) of the first subpixel (SP1) and the bank (250), and an undercut area (UC) formed by the first electrode (210) of the second subpixel (SP2) and the bank (250).

[0183] The disconnection portion (D) located between the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3) may include an undercut region (UC) formed by the first electrode (210) of the second subpixel (SP2) and the bank (250). In the disconnection portion (D) located between the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3), the undercut region (UC) may not be located on the side of the first electrode (210) of the third subpixel (SP3). The outer surface of the first electrode (210) of the third subpixel (SP3) may be wrapped by the bank (250).

[0184] There are areas in the disconnection section (D) where an undercut region (UC) is not formed, but the number of areas in a single pixel where an undercut region (UC) is not formed may be smaller than the number of areas where an undercut region (UC) is formed. While providing the effect of blocking leakage current by the undercut region (UC), it is possible to reduce the occurrence of defects caused by the process of forming the undercut region (UC).

[0185] When the area where the undercut region (UC) is not formed is reduced as in the example shown in FIG. 17, the material forming the first electrode (210) (e.g., ITO, IZO, etc.) can be disposed in a separated state only in the area between the second subpixel (SP2) and the third subpixel (SP3) during the process for forming the first electrode (210) of a plurality of subpixels (SP1, SP2, SP3). The material forming the first electrode (210) can be disposed entirely in the area where the undercut region (UC) is formed. The material forming the first electrode (210) disposed entirely can be removed by an etching process, and the undercut region (UC) can be formed.

[0186] Since the undercut region (UC) is not formed only in a part of the disconnection portion (D), the area in which the material forming the first electrode (210) is separated and placed is reduced, making it easier to place the material forming the first electrode (210). While preventing display driving abnormalities caused by leakage current due to the undercut region (UC), the occurrence of defects caused by the process of forming the undercut region (UC) under the bank (250) can also be reduced.
