Abstract
Description
Technology Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a system and method for managing radioactive iodine therapy for thyroid cancer patients, and more specifically, to a system and method for managing radioactive iodine therapy for thyroid cancer patients that allows the patient to manage the treatment schedule themselves, from the preparation period for radioactive iodine therapy to the follow-up observation after treatment. Background Technology
[0002] Radioactive iodine refers to iodine in a radioactive form, and this radioactive iodine is used to detect or treat conditions such as thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer patients requiring radioactive iodine therapy need to undergo a preparatory process once treatment is decided, which includes a 1-2 week low-iodine diet and the discontinuation of thyroid hormone or the administration of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) injections. Furthermore, since side effects from radioactive iodine therapy may occur late after treatment, management of both the patient and those around them is necessary even after discharge. However, it is difficult for thyroid cancer patients to recognize whether the symptoms they experience are side effects of radioactive iodine therapy. Prior art literature

Specific details for implementing the invention
[0025] Since it is a treatment, management of the patient and those around them is required even after discharge. In addition, there are cases where side effects caused by radioactive iodine treatment occur late, making it difficult for the patient to recognize them as side effects. However, according to the radioactive iodine treatment management system and method for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention, information on the start date of the low-iodine diet, information on the start date of normal activities, and information on precautions and side effects for the thyroid cancer patient are transmitted to a user device (130), so the thyroid cancer patient can recognize this information and prepare well for radioactive iodine treatment.
[0026] The storage unit (420) can store a food name, a food image corresponding to the food name, and iodine content information corresponding to the food name and the food image by matching them. Generally, iodine content information according to the food name is managed as data. That is, iodine content information of 100g of egg and iodine content information of 100g of tofu are managed as data. The analysis server (120) according to an embodiment of the present invention can calculate the constituent components and the amount of constituent components included in the food, and can calculate the iodine content information of the food by matching the iodine content information of these constituent components to the food. For example, if the food is bean sprout soup, the iodine content information of the bean sprout soup can be calculated by calculating the constituent components and the amount of constituent components included in the bean sprout soup.
[0027] In addition, the analysis server (120) according to an embodiment of the present invention can calculate iodine content information of food by learning information on food and iodine content contained in food. For example, the analysis server (120) can calculate iodine content information of bean sprout soup by learning information on bean sprout soup and iodine content contained in bean sprout soup. In this way, the analysis server (120) stores iodine content information corresponding to a food name based on iodine content information of a component included in food and iodine content information of food obtained through learning, and can continuously update this information.
[0028] FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram showing data stored in a storage unit of a radioactive iodine treatment management system for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 5, the storage unit (420) of the radioactive iodine treatment management system for a thyroid cancer patient can store a food name (500), a food image (510) corresponding to the food name, and iodine content information (520) corresponding to the food name and the food image by matching them.
[0029] FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of a user device of a radioactive iodine treatment management system for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 6, the user device (130) of a radioactive iodine treatment management system for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a shooting unit (610), a food information generating unit (620), and a transmitting and receiving unit (630).
[0030] The imaging unit (610) can capture images of food consumed by a thyroid cancer patient. The user device (130) may include a camera capable of capturing images of food. Such a camera may be used as the imaging unit (610). A thyroid cancer patient using the user device (130) can capture information about the food consumed from the start of the low-iodine diet until the date of radioactive iodine treatment through the imaging unit (610) of the user device (130). Images obtained through the imaging unit (610) may be stored inside the user device (130). At this time, there may be at least one image obtained through the imaging unit (610), and the number of images is not limited. Additionally, the images of food may be images of individual foods or images of the entire food. However, the images of food may include food and a container holding the food.
[0031] The food information generation unit (620) can generate food information including an image of food and a food name by matching a food name to an image of food. A thyroid cancer patient using the user device (130) can generate food information by inputting a food name into an image obtained through the imaging unit (610). FIG. 7 is a diagram showing food information generated by the user device of a radioactive iodine treatment management system for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0032] A thyroid patient can photograph the food being consumed before consuming food from the start of the low-iodine diet until the day of radioactive iodine treatment through the imaging unit (610) of the user device (130). As illustrated in FIG. 7, the food image may include the entire food being consumed (700). If the food image (700) is the entire food being consumed, food names corresponding to each food can be entered. For example, as illustrated in FIG. 7, food information including food names and images corresponding to these food names can be generated by entering food names corresponding to each food in the image (700) of the entire food, such as white rice (710), bean sprout soup (720), raw radish salad (730), and grilled beef (740). However, if the food image is a plurality of images regarding each food item being consumed, food names corresponding to the plurality of images corresponding to each food item can be entered. Thus, food names can be entered for each image corresponding to the plurality of food items. In this way, the food information generation unit (620) can generate food information including an image and a food name.
[0033] The transmitting and receiving unit (630) of the user device (130) can transmit food information including images and food names related to food to the analysis server (120). That is, the transmitting and receiving unit (630) can transmit food information generated by the food information generating unit (620) to the analysis server (120).
[0034] Referring again to FIG. 4, the operation of the analysis server (120) is examined. The transmission and reception unit (410) of the analysis server (120) can receive food information including images and food names from the user device (130). Then, the iodine content information extraction unit (430) can search the storage unit (420) to identify a food name in the storage unit (420) that matches the food name of the food information received from the user device (130), and then extract iodine content information of the food that matches the food name of the food information received from the user device (130) from the storage unit (420).
[0035] The food volume calculation unit (440) can calculate the volume of food consumed by a thyroid cancer patient from an image of food information received from a user device (130). According to an embodiment of the present invention, the image of food information may include food and a container holding the food. Accordingly, the food volume calculation unit (440) can calculate the volume of food based on the container present in the image of food information. The analysis server (120) includes information regarding the container (container shape, size, form, and volume) and can store data regarding the volume of food based on the container by learning the volume of food according to the image of the container and the food contained in the container. Accordingly, the food volume calculation unit (440) can calculate the volume of food of the food name included in the food information by comparing the data stored in the analysis server (120) with the image of food information received from the user device (130).
[0036] The iodine content information correction unit (450) can correct the iodine content information of the food extracted by the iodine content information extraction unit (430) based on the food volume calculated by the food volume calculation unit (440). Generally, the iodine content can vary depending on the amount of food, even for the same food. Therefore, the iodine content information correction unit (450) can correct the iodine content information of the food based on the food volume. Then, the transmitting and receiving unit (410) transmits the iodine content information of the food to the user device (130).
[0037] The storage unit (420) of the analysis server (120) can store information on the iodine content that a thyroid cancer patient can consume. The iodine content information that a thyroid cancer patient can consume can be managed as a daily upper limit value and a periodic upper limit value. The analysis server (120) compares the iodine content information of food with the iodine content information that a thyroid cancer patient can consume stored in the storage unit (420). If the iodine content of the food exceeds the iodine content that a thyroid cancer patient can consume, the analysis server (120) can transmit information regarding the excess amount to the user device (130) so that the thyroid cancer patient using the user device (130) can recognize this and respond accordingly. The storage unit (420) of the analysis server (120) can store information on the iodine content of food consumed by a thyroid cancer patient. Furthermore, this iodine content information can be transmitted to the thyroid cancer patient management device (110) and the user device (130) through the transmission and reception unit (410). Therefore, a doctor using the thyroid cancer patient management device (110) can manage information regarding the iodine content consumed by the thyroid cancer patient and, based on this, manage the radioactive iodine treatment method differently.
[0038] The schedule generation unit (460) can generate an entire treatment schedule for the thyroid cancer patient, including the start date of the low-iodine diet, the date of radioactive iodine treatment, the start date of normal activity, the date of additional radioactive iodine treatment, and the date of cessation of thyroid hormone.
[0039] FIG. 8 is a diagram showing the overall treatment schedule of a thyroid cancer patient generated by a radioactive iodine treatment management system for thyroid cancer patients according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 8, the overall treatment schedule of a thyroid cancer patient includes information regarding the diet start date (A), treatment date (B), normal activity day (C), additional treatment day (D), and hormone discontinuation date (E) of the thyroid cancer patient, and this information can be displayed as a single schedule. This overall treatment schedule can be transmitted to a thyroid cancer patient management device (110) and a user device (130). Additionally, the information can be further provided to the thyroid cancer patient management device (110) and the user device (130) in the form of guidance a certain period before each date.
[0040] FIG. 9 is a flowchart illustrating a method for managing radioactive iodine treatment for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention. Hereinafter, with reference to FIGS. 1 to 9, the operation of the method for managing radioactive iodine treatment for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention will be examined.
[0041] In step 900, the date for radioactive iodine treatment of a thyroid cancer patient is designated. Here, the date for radioactive iodine treatment can be entered by a doctor treating the thyroid cancer patient through the thyroid cancer patient management device (110). After discussing a date for radioactive iodine treatment through an interview with the thyroid cancer patient, the doctor can enter any one of the dates after at least two weeks from the date of the interview as the date for radioactive iodine treatment of the thyroid cancer patient. At this time, the date for radioactive iodine treatment of the thyroid cancer patient can be entered by selecting one of the user interfaces of FIG. 2 displayed on the thyroid cancer patient management device (110).
[0042] In Step 910, a start date for the low-iodine diet required for a thyroid cancer patient to undergo radioactive iodine therapy is created. The start date for the low-iodine diet is created as a date prior to a preset period based on the designated radioactive iodine therapy date. Here, the preset period can be 2 weeks by default. However, the date may be partially modified depending on the patient's condition. Therefore, the start date for the low-iodine diet may vary depending on the patient.
[0043] In step 920, a low-iodine diet start date is provided to the thyroid cancer patient. The analysis server (120) can transmit information regarding the low-iodine diet start date to the user device (130). Thus, the thyroid cancer patient using the user device (130) can be aware of the low-iodine diet start date.
[0044] In step 930, information on the food consumed by the thyroid cancer patient is received from the start date of the low-iodine diet until the date of radioactive iodine treatment. Images regarding the food consumed by the thyroid cancer patient from the start date of the low-iodine diet until the date of radioactive iodine treatment are obtained, and food information including the images and food names is generated by matching food names to the images, after which the generated food information can be received. More specifically, the thyroid cancer patient may photograph the food using the camera of the user device (130) whenever they consume food from the start date of the low-iodine diet. The photographed food information is stored in the user device (130). The thyroid cancer patient using the user device (130) can generate food information by accessing the application and inputting the food name into the photographed food photo. At this time, food information may also be generated by tagging the food name and date on the food photo. Additionally, information regarding the amount of food may be added. Generally, measures to reduce iodine in the body are necessary for radioactive iodine treatment. This is because iodine is used as a material to produce thyroid hormones in thyroid cells. Therefore, information regarding iodine intake is very important for the treatment of thyroid cancer. In the method for managing radioactive iodine therapy for thyroid cancer patients according to an embodiment of the present invention, since the thyroid cancer patient and the physician can be aware of such iodine intake, the iodine intake of the thyroid cancer patient can be managed efficiently.
[0045] The iodine content contained in the food is calculated by analyzing the photo received in step 940. The iodine content information extraction unit (430) of the analysis server (120) can extract iodine content information corresponding to the food information by comparing the iodine content information according to the food stored in the storage unit (420) with the food information. The food volume calculation unit (440) can calculate the volume of food consumed by a thyroid cancer patient from the food information. The iodine content information correction unit (450) can calculate the iodine content contained in the food by correcting the iodine content information of the extracted food based on the food volume calculated by the food volume calculation unit (440). That is, the analysis server (120) can search the storage unit (420) to confirm the food name in the storage unit (420) that matches the food name of the food information received from the user device (130), and then extract the iodine content information of the food that matches the food name of the food information received from the user device (130) from the storage unit (420). In this case, the iodine content can be adjusted by reflecting the volume of the food.
[0046] In step 950, information on the iodine content contained in food is provided to the thyroid cancer patient. The transceiver (410) of the analysis server (120) can transmit information on the iodine content contained in the food consumed by the thyroid cancer patient to the user device (130).
[0047] In step 960, the start date of normal activity for the thyroid cancer patient is generated. The analysis server (120) can generate the start date of normal activity for the thyroid cancer patient based on the date of radioactive iodine treatment for the thyroid cancer patient. Additionally, the analysis server (120) can generate the start date of normal activity for the thyroid cancer patient by reflecting a pre-set period based on the date of radioactive iodine treatment. For example, if the pre-set period is one week later, the date one week after the date of radioactive iodine treatment can be generated as the start date of normal activity. If the thyroid cancer patient has specific symptoms, the analysis server (120) can partially adjust the date of radioactive iodine treatment and the start date of normal activity for the thyroid cancer patient by taking these into account.
[0048] In step 970, information on precautions and side effects for thyroid cancer patients is provided to a user device. The analysis server (120) generates information on precautions and side effects for thyroid cancer patients by adding additional precautions and side effects specific to thyroid cancer patients to the common information on precautions and side effects for thyroid cancer patients, and can transmit the generated information on precautions and side effects for thyroid cancer patients to a user device (130).
[0049] A method for managing radioactive iodine treatment for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention, after step 970, inputs the additional radioactive iodine treatment date and the thyroid hormone discontinuation date of the thyroid cancer patient, and then transmits the additional radioactive iodine treatment date, the thyroid hormone discontinuation date, and symptom information regarding the thyroid cancer patient's decreased thyroid function to a user device (130).
[0050] The radioactive iodine treatment management method for a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention may generate the entire treatment schedule for the thyroid cancer patient of FIG. 8 and then transmit the entire treatment schedule to the thyroid cancer patient management device (110) and the user device (130).
[0051] In the method for managing radioactive iodine treatment of a thyroid cancer patient according to an embodiment of the present invention, when symptom information regarding a thyroid cancer patient is entered into a user device (130), the symptom information may be stored in an analysis server (120), and the analysis server (120) may transmit the symptom information regarding a thyroid cancer patient to a thyroid cancer patient management device (110).
[0052] Embodiments of the invention may be implemented as a computer-executable method or as a non-transient computer-readable medium on which computer-executable instructions are recorded. When computer-readable instructions are executed by a processor, computer-readable instructions may perform a method according to at least one aspect of the present invention.
[0053] Embodiments relating to the present invention have been disclosed in the drawings and specification as described above.
