Abstract
Description
Technology Field
[0001] The present invention relates to an interpolated ultrasonic inspection device, and more specifically, to an interpolated ultrasonic inspection device for detecting internal defects in pipes. Background Technology
[0002] Ultrasonic inspection devices are a representative technology of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) used to detect internal defects without damaging materials or structures. Ultrasound is a high-frequency sound wave capable of propagating through various media, such as metals, plastics, and ceramics, and possesses the characteristic of reflecting back from the boundaries or defects (cracks, pores, delamination, etc.) of the medium. Utilizing this principle, the presence of internal abnormalities can be identified by injecting ultrasound into the object under inspection and analyzing the reflected or transmitted waves.
[0003] In particular, regular non-destructive testing is essential for industrial equipment such as piping, welds, and pressure vessels, as long-term use can lead to cracking, corrosion, and thickness reduction. Unlike radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing has the advantage of not posing safety risks related to radiation and can be rapidly applied in the field. Furthermore, by varying the probe frequency, array method, and insertion structure, it can detect not only surface defects but also deep defects with high precision, making it widely utilized in various fields such as aviation, shipbuilding, power generation, and petrochemical plants.
[0004] Ultrasonic testing technology primarily utilizes a single transducer; however, using a single transducer with a representative angle of incidence results in a problem where the total inspection time is significantly consumed. Therefore, there is a need for an ultrasonic testing device composed of an assembly of single transducers that meet the inspection range. Furthermore, when inspection is required while inserted into pipes or holes, the issue arises that equipment must be equipped to fit snugly against the diameter. Consequently, there is a requirement for an ultrasonic testing device capable of operating on pipes or holes of different diameters. The problem to be solved
[0005] Accordingly, the present embodiment is devised to solve the problems described above and presents an ultrasonic inspection device composed of an assembly of single probes to reduce the total inspection time.

[0025] The present invention is capable of various modifications and may have various embodiments, and specific embodiments are illustrated in the drawings and described in detail. However, this is not intended to limit the invention to specific embodiments, and it should be understood that it includes all modifications that fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
[0026] Unless otherwise defined, all terms used herein, including technical or scientific terms, have the same meaning as generally understood by those skilled in the art to which this invention pertains.
[0027] Terms such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries should be interpreted as having meanings consistent with their meanings in the context of the relevant technology, and should not be interpreted in an ideal or overly formal sense unless explicitly defined in this application.
[0028] An ultrasonic inspection device, which is an embodiment of the present invention, will be described in detail below with reference to the attached drawings.
[0029] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 1, the ultrasonic inspection device includes a housing having a first step formed on its upper and lower surfaces, a housing cover disposed on the upper and lower sides of the housing, respectively, a first wedge disposed between the upper surface of the housing and the housing cover and having a first sensor insertion groove formed diagonally from the lower surface toward the front so as to place a sensor inside, and a second wedge disposed between the lower surface of the housing and the housing cover and having a second sensor insertion groove formed diagonally from the upper surface toward the front so as to place a sensor inside.
[0030] The housing (300) has a connector insertion part (320) formed protruding from the rear. A connector (30) is inserted into a hole formed in the center of the connector insertion part (320). The connector connects one or more sensors (10) provided within the ultrasonic inspection device with an external device. The external device can check for damage or deformation of the object to be inspected through data received from the sensor (10).
[0031] A housing cover (100) is attached to the upper and lower sides of the housing (300). A first wedge (200) and a second wedge are positioned between the housing (300) and the housing cover (100). The first wedge (200) is positioned on the upper side of the housing (300), and the second wedge is positioned on the lower side of the housing (300). The movement of the first wedge (200) and the second wedge in the width (Y-axis) and length direction (X-axis) is restricted by the connection of the housing (300) and the housing cover (100). At this time, the range of movement of the first wedge (200) and the second wedge in the height direction is restricted by the housing (300) and the housing cover (100). A detailed explanation regarding the movement of the first wedge (200) and the second wedge in the height direction (Z-axis) will be provided later.
[0032] The first wedge (200) and the second wedge are formed of a transparent material and are equipped with one or more sensors inside. By providing multiple sensors, there is an advantage of being able to inspect a wide range simultaneously and reduce time consumption. Since the first wedge (200) and the second wedge are formed of a transparent material, scattering of the ultrasonic signal within the wedge is reduced, thereby reducing the impact on the intensity and reflectivity of the ultrasonic signal.
[0033] Hereinafter, an embodiment in which one sensor is provided on the first wedge (200) and two sensors are provided on the second wedge will be described.
[0034] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2, the ultrasonic inspection device is largely composed of a housing cover (100), a first wedge (200), a housing (300), and a second wedge (400). The first wedge (200) is positioned on the upper side of the housing, and the second wedge (400) is positioned on the lower side of the housing. A housing cover (100) that is coupled to the housing (300) is positioned on the upper side of the first wedge (200) and on the lower side of the second wedge (400).
[0035] The housing cover (100), which is attached to the upper and lower surfaces of the housing respectively, has the same shape.
[0036] A first step is formed on the upper and lower surfaces of the housing (300) to allow a first wedge or a second wedge to be inserted. One or more holes are formed in the first wedge (200) and the second wedge (400) for inserting a sensor (10). A plurality of elastic bodies (20) are disposed between the first wedge (200) and the housing (300), and between the second wedge (400) and the housing (300). The elastic bodies (20) may be composed of springs.
[0037] The movement of the first wedge (200) and the second wedge (400) in the longitudinal and transverse directions is restricted by the housing (300) and the housing cover (100). At this time, they can move a certain distance in the height direction due to the shape of the housing (300) and the housing cover (100). The first wedge (200) and the second wedge (400) are moved in the height direction by receiving a pushing force from the housing (300) by the elastic body (20). Through this, the overall height of the ultrasonic inspection device can be adjusted.
[0038] FIG. 3 is a front view of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2, a first wedge (200) and a housing cover (100) are arranged on the upper side of the housing (300), and a second wedge (400) and a housing cover (100) are arranged on the lower side of the housing (300).
[0039] A first sensor insertion groove (222) is formed inside the first wedge (200) to allow the sensor (10) to be inserted. The second wedge further includes a third sensor insertion groove formed diagonally from the upper surface toward the rear to allow the sensor to be placed inside. Inside the second wedge (400), a second sensor insertion groove (422) and a third sensor insertion groove (423) are formed to allow the sensor (10) to be inserted.
[0040] The sensor (10) is positioned facing outward. That is, the sensor (10) placed in the first sensor insertion groove (222) is positioned to face upward, and the sensors (10) placed in the second sensor insertion groove (422) and the third sensor insertion groove (423) are positioned to face downward.
[0041] At this time, each sensor (10) has the characteristic of being arranged diagonally. The first sensor insertion groove is formed at an angle of incidence with respect to the upper surface of the first wedge, the second sensor insertion groove is formed at an angle of incidence with respect to the lower surface of the second wedge, and the third sensor insertion groove is formed at an angle of incidence with respect to the lower surface of the second wedge.
[0042] The sensor (10) placed in the first sensor insertion groove (222) is positioned facing forward. At this time, the angle at which the sensor looks can be formed to be 80 to 90 degrees (A) with respect to the upper surface of the first wedge. The sensor (10) placed in the second sensor insertion groove (422) is positioned facing forward. At this time, the angle at which the sensor looks can be formed to be 60 to 80 degrees (B) with respect to the lower surface of the second wedge. The sensor (10) placed in the third sensor insertion groove (423) is positioned facing backward. At this time, the angle at which the sensor looks can be formed to be 35 to 70 degrees (C) with respect to the lower surface of the second wedge. The advantage is that the internal inspection time of the pipe (1) is shortened through multiple sensors (10), and the advantage is that accuracy is increased by positioning each sensor (10) to form various different directions and angles. The angle at which the sensor looks can be formed as an incident angle (A, B, C) in any one of vertical, horizontal, and diagonal directions, taking into account the inspection purpose, work method, and sensor specifications.
[0043] At this time, the sensor placed in the second sensor insertion groove and the sensor inserted in the third sensor groove have the same angle of incidence and are formed to face in opposite directions. This provides the effect of bidirectional inspection.
[0044] The angles of the first sensor insertion groove, the second sensor insertion groove, and the third sensor insertion groove can be changed with respect to the X-axis depending on the purpose and measurement efficiency.
[0045] A plurality of elastic bodies are disposed between the housing and the first wedge, and between the housing and the second wedge. The elastic bodies transmit outward force to the first wedge and the second wedge. At this time, the elastic body (20-1) disposed between the housing and the first wedge and the elastic body (20-2) disposed between the housing and the second wedge are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction. That is, they are not placed on the same line. The present invention can be manufactured as a micro-equipment. If they are placed on the same line, a problem may occur where the thickness is reduced by the groove into which the elastic body is inserted, causing it to break. To prevent this in advance, they are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction so that they are not placed on the same line.
[0046] FIG. 4 is a side view of the present invention inserted into a pipe. Referring to FIG. 4, the ultrasonic inspection device is inserted into the interior of the pipe (1) and moves along the length to inspect the interior of the pipe (1).
[0047] An external scanner is connected to the ultrasonic inspection device via a connector. The ultrasonic inspection device collects signals while undergoing transport processes such as insertion, rotation, advancement, and withdrawal within the pipe.
[0048] In the ultrasonic inspection device, a housing cover (100) is disposed on the upper and lower surfaces of a housing (300), and a first wedge (200) or a second wedge (400) is disposed between the housing (300) and the housing cover (100). The first wedge (200) and the second wedge (400) are exposed to the outside through a through hole formed in the center of the housing cover (100).
[0049] At this time, when looking at the cross-sections of the first wedge (200) and the second wedge (400), the upper surface of the first wedge and the lower surface of the second wedge are formed as curved surfaces. The curvature of the curved surface can be formed to correspond to the inner diameter of the pipe (1). There is an advantage that the first wedge (200) and the second wedge (400) are in close contact with the inner surface of the pipe (1) as much as possible, thereby increasing the accuracy of the inspection.
[0050] FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a housing cover. Referring to FIG. 5, the housing cover (100) has a first coupling hole (130) formed therein into which a coupling member can be inserted so as to be coupled with the housing. One or more first coupling holes (130) are formed. Hereinafter, an embodiment in which two first coupling holes (130) are formed will be described. The two first coupling holes (130) are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction and are formed at the front and rear, respectively. A coupling member, such as a bolt, is inserted to couple the housing and the housing cover (100).
[0051] The housing cover includes a second step corresponding to the width and length of the first step and a through hole corresponding to the horizontal cross-sectional shape of the first wedge or the second wedge. The through hole (110) corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the first wedge and the second wedge. The upper surface of the first wedge or the lower surface of the second wedge protrudes outward by penetrating the housing cover (100) through the through hole (110).
[0052] The second step (120) is formed to include a through hole (110). The second step (120) corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the first protrusion of the first wedge and the second protrusion of the second wedge (400). A detailed explanation of the relationship between the second step (120), the first protrusion, and the second protrusion will be provided later.
[0053] FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the housing. Referring to FIG. 6, the description will be based on the upper part of the housing (300). The housing (300) is formed in a block shape. A second coupling hole (301) is formed on the upper surface of the housing to be coupled with the housing cover. A first step (310) corresponding to the first protrusion of the first wedge is formed on the upper surface of the housing (300). A wedge insertion groove (311) corresponding to the first insertion part of the first wedge is formed in the center of the first step (310).
[0054] The first step (310) corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the first protrusion. The first step (310) and the second step are formed at corresponding positions. When the housing (300) and the housing cover (100) are combined, the first step (310) and the second step form a hole having a certain height. At this time, the hole formed by the first step (310) and the second step (120) will be described as an upper hole.
[0055] The height of the upper hole is formed to be higher than the thickness of the first protrusion. As a result, the first wedge can move in the height direction even when the housing (300) and the housing cover are combined. The range of movement of the first wedge corresponds to the difference between the height of the upper hole and the thickness of the first protrusion.
[0056] The wedge insertion groove (311) has a shape corresponding to the first insertion part of the first wedge. A second central groove (312) is formed in the center of the wedge insertion groove (311) in the longitudinal direction. The second central groove (312) is formed at a position corresponding to the first central groove. A space for arranging the signal line is formed by the first central groove and the second central groove (312).
[0057] A plurality of third elastic body insertion grooves (313) are formed in the wedge insertion groove (311), spaced apart in the width direction from the second central groove (312). Each third elastic body insertion groove (313) is formed spaced apart in the width direction and the length direction.
[0058] A connector insertion part (320) is formed at the front of the housing (300), with a hole formed therein for inserting a connector. The connector is connected to the signal line of each sensor and transmits the collected signal to an external device.
[0059] The housing (300) has an upper surface and a lower surface formed identically, excluding the third elastic body insertion groove (313). That is, a first step (310), a wedge insertion groove (311), and a second central groove (312) are formed on the lower surface of the housing (300). At this time, the hole formed by the first step (310) formed on the lower surface of the housing (300) and the second step (120) of the housing cover (100) is referred to as the lower hole.
[0060] FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view of the housing. Referring to FIG. 7, a third elastic body insertion groove (313) is formed on the upper surface of the housing, and a fourth elastic body insertion groove (314) is formed on the lower surface of the housing.
[0061] The fourth elastic body insertion groove (314), into which an elastic body is inserted on the lower surface of the housing (300), is not located on the same line as the third elastic body insertion groove (313) on the upper surface, but is formed spaced apart in the longitudinal direction.
[0062] FIG. 8 is a perspective view of the first wedge. Referring to FIG. 8, the first wedge (200) is formed in the shape of a rectangular prism that is long in the longitudinal direction, and the vertical edges are formed to have a certain curvature.
[0063] The upper surface (201) of the first wedge is formed in an arc shape to have a curvature corresponding to the pipe when viewed from the side. The first wedge (200) includes a first protrusion (210) formed protruding in the width direction on the side. The first protrusion (210) is formed at a certain height from the lower surface of the first wedge (200). The first protrusion (210) has a certain thickness and a rectangular cross-section. The length of the first protrusion (210) corresponds to the length of the first wedge (200).
[0064] The lower end of the first wedge (200) formed on the lower side of the first protrusion (210) is described as the first insertion part (220). The first insertion part (220) is inserted into the housing (300). A first central groove (221) is formed on the lower surface of the first insertion part (220) so that the signal line of the sensor is arranged therein.
[0065] The external shape of the first wedge (200) and the external shape of the second wedge correspond to each other. The second wedge includes a lower surface corresponding to the upper surface (201), the first protrusion (210), the first insertion part (220), and the first central groove (221) of the first wedge, a second protrusion, a second insertion part, and a second central groove. A detailed description of the second wedge will be provided later.
[0066] FIG. 9 is a cross-sectional view of the first wedge. Referring to FIG. 9, the cross-section of the first wedge (200) has a rectangular shape. The first wedge (200) includes a first protrusion (210) formed at a certain height from the bottom surface.
[0067] On the lower surface of the first wedge (200), a first sensor insertion groove (222) into which a sensor is inserted and a first central groove (221) formed longitudinally to allow the signal line of the sensor to be arranged are formed. The first sensor insertion groove (222) and the first central groove (221) are formed in the center of the lower surface, and the first central groove (221) is formed to pass through the first sensor insertion groove (222).
[0068] The first sensor insertion groove (222) is formed diagonally toward the front. Specifically, the first sensor insertion groove (222) is formed at an angle of incidence (A) with respect to the upper surface (201) of the first wedge.
[0069] A plurality of first elastic insertion grooves (223) are formed by being recessed into the lower surface of the first wedge (200). The first elastic insertion grooves (223) are formed in alignment with the third elastic insertion groove formed on the upper surface of the housing.
[0070] FIG. 10 is a cross-sectional view of the second wedge. Referring to FIG. 10, the cross-section of the second wedge (400) has a rectangular shape. The second wedge (400) includes a second protrusion (410) formed at a certain height from the upper surface.
[0071] On the upper surface of the second wedge (400), a second sensor insertion groove (422) and a third sensor insertion groove (423) into which a sensor is inserted are formed, and a third central groove (412) formed in the longitudinal direction to allow the signal line of the sensor to be arranged is formed. The second sensor insertion groove (422), the third sensor insertion groove (423), and the third central groove (412) are formed in the center of the upper surface, and the third central groove (412) is formed to pass through the second sensor insertion groove (422) and the third sensor insertion groove (423).
[0072] The second sensor insertion groove (422) and the third sensor insertion groove (423) are formed diagonally. Specifically, the second sensor insertion groove (422) is formed with an angle of incidence (B) toward the front relative to the lower surface of the second wedge. The third sensor insertion groove (423) is formed with an angle of incidence (C) toward the rear. At this time, a residual space (402) may be formed between the second sensor insertion groove (422) and the third sensor insertion groove (423). The residual space (402) is formed to facilitate the manufacturing of the second sensor insertion groove (422) and the third sensor insertion groove (423) and to facilitate the smooth insertion of the sensor (10). Additionally, a small device required for an ultrasonic inspection device may be placed therein.
[0073] The second wedge (400) has a plurality of second elastic insertion grooves (423) formed by being recessed on its upper surface. The second elastic insertion grooves (423) are formed in alignment with the fourth elastic insertion groove formed on the lower surface of the housing.
[0074] FIGS. 11 and FIGS. 12 are exemplary diagrams illustrating the process of an ultrasonic inspection device being inserted into a pipe (1). Referring to FIG. 11, the ultrasonic inspection device is inserted into a pipe (1) having an inner diameter (b) of a certain size.
[0075] The first wedge (200) and the second wedge (400) of the ultrasonic inspection device receive an outward force from an elastic body (20-1, 20-2) disposed inside. The ultrasonic inspection device has a maximum height (a1) due to the elastic body (20). That is, the first protrusion of the first wedge comes into contact with the second step of the housing cover disposed on the upper side due to the elastic body (20). In addition, the second protrusion of the second wedge comes into contact with the second step of the housing cover disposed on the lower side. As a result, the ultrasonic inspection device has a maximum height.
[0076] Generally, when the height of the ultrasonic inspection device is greater than the inner diameter (b) of the pipe (1), equipment modification is required. To solve this problem, the present invention has the advantage of having a height adjustment function through an elastic body (20).
[0077] Referring to FIG. 12, as the elastic body (20) is stretched, the height (a2) of the ultrasonic inspection device from the upper surface (201) of the first wedge to the lower surface (401) of the second wedge is adjusted to correspond to or be smaller than the inner diameter (b) of the pipe (1).
[0078] The present invention has the advantage of improved inspection speed and accuracy by being equipped with multiple sensors. In addition, it offers high versatility as a single device can be used on inner diameters of various sizes by adjusting the height through an elastic body. Furthermore, it has the advantage of improved precision as the sensors positioned on the upper and lower sides are placed in close contact with the inner surface of the pipe.
[0079] FIG. 13 is an example of a modified first wedge. Referring to FIG. 13, the first wedge (200) further includes a fourth sensor insertion groove (224) formed vertically from the bottom surface.
[0080] The first wedge is formed with a first sensor insertion groove (222) formed diagonally toward the front and a fourth sensor insertion groove (224) formed vertically from the bottom. The fourth sensor insertion groove is formed perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The sensor placed in the fourth sensor insertion groove collects data in a direction perpendicular to the pipe. This has the advantage of accurately identifying the depth and shape of damage that has occurred inside the pipe.
[0081] FIG. 14 is an exemplary illustration of a variation of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 14, it is an exemplary illustration showing the process of an ultrasonic inspection device being inserted into a pipe (1). A first sensor insertion groove (222) and a fourth sensor insertion groove (224) are formed in the first wedge (200), and a second sensor insertion groove (422) and a third sensor insertion groove (423) are formed in the second wedge (400).
[0082] The first sensor insertion groove and the second sensor insertion groove are formed diagonally toward the front, and the third sensor insertion groove is formed diagonally toward the rear. The fourth insertion groove is formed vertically to the lower surface of the first wedge so as to collect data in a direction perpendicular to the inner surface of the pipe.
[0083] The present invention has the advantage of simultaneously acquiring a wide range of data through multiple sensors, and each sensor is positioned with different orientations and angles to acquire diverse data.
