[0017] In the following, 'at least one of a, b, and c' should be understood to include 'only a', 'only b', 'only c', 'a and b', 'a and c', 'b and c', or 'a, b, and c'.

[0019] FIG. 1 shows a fire hose according to exemplary embodiments. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view along line A-A' of FIG. 1.

[0020] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a fire hose (100) may be provided. The fire hose (100) may include a hybrid outer jacket (110) and an inner liner (120). The hybrid outer jacket (110) may be configured to surround the inner liner (120). The inner liner (120) may be configured to be positioned on the inside of the hybrid outer jacket (110) to define a channel (102) through which firefighting water flows.

[0021] The inner liner (120) can provide a waterproof function to prevent leakage even under high water pressure. The inner liner (120) can be configured to have high flexibility so that the fire hose (100) can be easily deployed and operated at the fire scene. In exemplary embodiments, the inner liner (120) may have a tube shape. The inner liner (120) may include an elastomer. For example, the inner liner (120) may include a waterproof tube extruded from at least one of styrene butadiene, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), chloroprene, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and nitrile rubber.

[0022] In exemplary embodiments, the inner liner (120) may further include at least one additive to have the required function. In exemplary embodiments, the inner liner (120) may further include a flame-retardant composition. The flame-retardant composition may include, for example, at least one of chlorinated polyethylene (CPE), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), antimony oxide, zinc molybdate / magnesium silicate complex, and aluminum trihydroxide (ATH). When the inner liner (120) includes a flame-retardant composition, the fire resistance performance of the fire hose (100) may be improved.

[0023] In exemplary embodiments, the inner liner (120) may further include a reinforcing agent to control mechanical properties. For example, the reinforcing agent may include at least one of silica, carbon black, and iron oxide. When the reinforcing agent is incorporated into the rubber composition of the inner liner (120), the mechanical strength of the inner liner (120) may be improved. When the inner liner (120) includes the reinforcing agent, the durability and wear resistance of the fire hose (100) may be improved.

[0024] A hybrid outer jacket (110) may be configured to form the exterior of a fire hose (100) and to protect the fire hose (100) from external environments (e.g., flames, high-temperature objects, and friction with rough ground, etc.) that may cause damage to the fire hose (100). The hybrid outer jacket (110) may be composed of different warp and weft threads. The hybrid outer jacket (110) may include polyester warp threads and aramid weft threads. Polyester warp threads and aramid weft threads may have a complementary effect. In exemplary embodiments, the polyester warp threads and aramid weft threads may have a double-sided twill structure. A twill structure is a weaving method in which threads cross diagonally, skipping two or more squares at a time, to form diagonal patterns on the surface of the fabric. A double-sided twill structure is a weaving method in which diagonal patterns of the twill structure are formed on both the front and back sides of the fabric.

[0025] The polyester warp can be configured to maintain the shape of the fire hose (100) and ensure the flexibility of the fire hose (100). For example, the polyester warp may include polyester fiber yarn. The polyester warp can be configured to extend in the longitudinal direction of the fire hose (100). The polyester warp can be configured so that the fire hose (100) has high flexibility and UV resistance.

[0026] The aramid weft can be configured to have resistance to circumferential bursting that occurs when the fire hose (100) is pressurized and resistance to wear against friction with the ground. For example, the aramid weft may include para-aramid fiber yarn. The aramid weft can be configured to be wound along the circumferential direction of the fire hose (100). The aramid weft can be configured so that the fire hose (100) has high strength, heat resistance, and wear resistance.

[0027] In exemplary embodiments, as the hybrid outer jacket (110) is composed of polyester warp and aramid weft, the disadvantages of each material can be mutually compensated for and the advantages of each material can be utilized. Para-aramid fibers have the advantage of relatively high strength (e.g., tenacity is about 20-24 g / d, tensile strength is about 2.5-3.5 GPa), heat resistance (e.g., withstands over 500°C), and abrasion resistance, but they also have the disadvantages of relatively low elongation (e.g., about 2.5% to 4%), high cost, and poor resistance to ultraviolet rays. On the other hand, polyester fibers have the advantages of relatively high elongation (e.g., about 12% to 25%), low cost, and high UV resistance, but they have the disadvantages of relatively low strength (e.g., tenacity is about 7.5 g / d, tensile strength is about 0.6 to 1.0 GPa), heat resistance (e.g., withstands about 150 to 250°C), and abrasion resistance compared to para-aramid fibers.

[0028] A fire hose (100) is an important firefighting device used to save lives and property in extreme environments such as fire scenes. During the fire suppression process, the fire hose (100) may be continuously rubbed against rough ground, building corners, stairs, and debris, and is directly exposed to radiant heat and high temperatures at the fire scene, so high wear resistance and high heat resistance are essential.

[0029] The fire hose (100) of the present disclosure may be configured to have high strength, heat resistance, and abrasion resistance using aramid weft yarn, and high flexibility and UV resistance using polyester warp yarn. The aramid weft yarn may be thicker than the polyester warp yarn. For example, the thickness of the aramid weft yarn may be 6,000 denier and the thickness of the polyester warp yarn may be 2,000 denier. Accordingly, a fire hose (100) capable of maintaining high strength, heat resistance, abrasion resistance, flexibility, and UV resistance even at a fire scene (e.g., a wildfire scene) may be provided.

[0030] In exemplary embodiments, the hybrid outer jacket (110) may have a double-sided twill structure woven with polyester warp and aramid weft. When the hybrid outer jacket (110) has a double-sided twill structure, the phenomenon of protruding weft threads getting caught on obstacles when moving the fire hose (100) at a fire scene can be reduced or prevented. Accordingly, damage to the hybrid outer jacket (110) can be reduced or prevented. The present disclosure may provide a fire hose (100) in which damage to the hybrid outer jacket (110) is reduced or prevented.

[0031] In the following, a method for manufacturing a fire hose (100) may be provided. In exemplary embodiments, the fire hose (100) may be formed by a circular weaving device. The circular weaving device may include a body having a weaving hole formed in its center. A tube-shaped inner liner (120) may be disposed in the center of the weaving hole. In exemplary embodiments, the inner liner (120) may include a flame-retardant composition. The flame-retardant composition may include, for example, at least one of chlorinated polyethylene (CPE), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), antimony oxide, zinc molybdate / magnesium silicate complex, and aluminum trihydroxide (ATH). In exemplary embodiments, the inner liner (120) may include a reinforcing agent to control mechanical properties. For example, the reinforcing agent may include at least one of silica, carbon black, and iron oxide.

[0032] A circular weaving device may be configured to move along a direction perpendicular to the weaving hole while the inner liner (120) is positioned at the center of the weaving hole. The circular weaving device may be configured to wind polyester warp and aramid weft yarns onto the surface of the inner liner (120) moving along a direction perpendicular to the weaving hole. Accordingly, a hybrid outer jacket (110) may be formed on the surface of the inner liner (120). The aramid weft yarn may be thicker than the polyester warp yarn. For example, the thickness of the aramid weft yarn may be 6,000 denier, and the thickness of the polyester warp yarn may be 2,000 denier. In exemplary embodiments, the polyester warp yarns and aramid weft yarns may be wound onto the surface of the inner liner (120) to form a double-sided twill weave structure.

[0033] Accordingly, a fire hose (100) can be formed by using aramid weft yarn to have high strength, heat resistance, and wear resistance, and using polyester warp yarn to have high flexibility and UV resistance.

[0035] The above description of embodiments of the technical concept of the present disclosure provides examples for explaining the technical concept of the present disclosure. Accordingly, the technical concept of the present disclosure is not limited to the above embodiments, and it is evident that many modifications and changes are possible within the technical concept of the present disclosure, such as combining the above embodiments by those skilled in the art.
