Specific details for implementing the invention
[0024] Hereinafter, the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings. However, this is merely illustrative and the present disclosure is not limited to the specific embodiments described illustratively.
[0025] Among the physical properties mentioned in this specification, if the measured temperature and / or pressure affects the physical property, unless specifically otherwise specified, said physical property is the property measured at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.
[0026] As the management of heat generated from electric products, electronic products, or batteries such as secondary batteries has become an important issue, various heat dissipation measures have been proposed. For example, battery modules may include a heat dissipation adhesive layer that secures battery cells while efficiently transferring heat generated from the battery cells to the outside.
[0027] In one example, a heat dissipation adhesive is applied to the lower inner surface of a module case, and a plurality of battery cells are attached to the applied adhesive to manufacture a battery module.
[0028] In addition, in one example, to manufacture a battery module, a method is adopted in which a plurality of battery cells are stacked horizontally in a row to assemble them into a battery cell unit, and then the assembled battery cell unit is inserted into a module case. Here, the battery module may be manufactured by pressing at least two sides of the battery cell unit to minimize the space between the battery cells in order to minimize the volume, then inserting it into the module case, and then releasing the pressure.
[0029] However, when a battery cell unit, which has been pressed on both sides as described above, is brought into contact with the heat dissipation adhesive while the heat dissipation adhesive is applied to the lower inner surface of the module case, there may be cases where the battery cell is pushed out and the heat dissipation adhesive is pushed to one side when the pressure is released. In this case, it may result in the unnecessary use of the heat dissipation adhesive or cause the heat dissipation adhesive to be inserted into the space between the battery cells.
[0030] According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method for manufacturing a battery module can be provided that prevents defects caused by the process and improves the heat dissipation characteristics of the final product. Additionally, according to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method for manufacturing a battery module can be provided that prevents defects caused by the process and improves the safety of the final product by preventing an adhesive material (200) from entering between the battery cells (1). Additionally, according to one aspect of the present disclosure, a battery module (2) manufactured by the method for manufacturing a battery module can be provided, and an electric device comprising one or more selected from the group consisting of a battery pack (3) including the battery module (2) and an electric device can be provided.
[0031] FIG. 1 is a drawing illustrating an exemplary part of the structure of a battery cell (1) according to one aspect of the present disclosure. FIG. 2 is a drawing illustrating an exemplary structure of a battery module (2) according to one aspect of the present disclosure. FIG. 3 is a drawing illustrating an exemplary structure of a battery pack (3) according to one aspect of the present disclosure.
[0032] The structure of a battery cell (1) according to one aspect of the present disclosure may be known. The battery cell (1) may include an electrode assembly and an electrolyte (1d). Also, referring to FIG. 1, the battery cell (1) may have a structure comprising a positive electrode (1a) and a negative electrode (1b), with a separator (1c) interposed between the positive electrode (1a) and the negative electrode (1b). Additionally, the battery cell (1) may have a structure in which the electrolyte (1d) is filled within a sealed space due to the outer casing (1e) of the battery cell.
[0033] The above-mentioned cathode (1a) may refer to a reduction electrode where an electron transfer material receives electrons when the battery cell (1) is discharged. The above-mentioned anode (1b) may refer to an oxidation electrode where an electron transfer material transfers electrons when the battery cell (1) is discharged. Additionally, the above-mentioned separator (1c) may refer to a membrane through which an electron transfer material passes while preventing an electrical short circuit between the cathode (1a) and the anode (1b). Additionally, the above-mentioned electrolyte (1d) may refer to a medium that causes the movement of an electron transfer material to facilitate the electrochemical reaction between the cathode (1a) and the anode (1b).
[0034] Meanwhile, although FIG. 1 illustrates an electrolyte (1d) in a liquid state, as described above, a solid state electrolyte, such as a gel-type polymer electrolyte, may also be used. A battery using a solid state electrolyte can generally be called a solid battery or an all-solid battery. In the case of a liquid state electrolyte, it may generally contain an organic solvent and a lithium salt.
[0035] As mentioned above, they are classified in various ways depending on the type of electron transfer material. For example, if the electron transfer material is lithium (Li, including ions), the battery can be called a lithium-ion battery.
[0036] In addition, the outer casing (1e) of the battery cell can protect the positive electrode (1a), negative electrode (1b), and separator (1c) from external impact and prevent the electrolyte (1d) from leaking out. Depending on the shape of the outer casing (1e) of the battery cell, the battery cell (1) can be classified as prismatic, coin-shaped, cylindrical, or pouch-shaped. In the present disclosure, the battery cell (1) may preferably be pouch-shaped.
[0037] A battery module (2) according to one aspect of the present disclosure may be manufactured according to a method for manufacturing a battery module according to one aspect of the present disclosure. [0042] The structure of a battery pack (3) according to one aspect of the present disclosure may be known. Referring to FIG. 3, the battery pack (3) may include one or more battery modules (2) and electrical components (3e), such as various control devices including a BMS, on a mounting surface (3b) formed inside a pack housing (3a).
[0043] The above battery pack (3) may include one or more selected from the group consisting of the battery cell (1) and battery module (2), and may include a structure equipped with various control devices and protection systems such as a Battery Management System (BMS) and a cooling device.
[0044] The above battery pack (3) may be composed of battery cells (1) rather than battery modules (2), in which case it can be called a so-called cell-to-pack.
[0045] The battery pack (3) may include various configurations to ensure structural rigidity of the pack housing (3a). The battery pack (3) may include a cross member (3d) formed protruding from the tray (3a-1) of the pack housing (3a) across the entire tray (3a-1) to connect the opposing side wall portions (3a-2) of the pack housing (3a). Additionally, the battery pack (3) may be provided with a partition wall (3c) formed protruding from the tray (3a-1) of the pack housing (3a) in a manner that connects the cross member (3d) and the side wall portions (3a-2).
[0046] An electric device according to one aspect of the present disclosure may include one or more selected from the group consisting of one or more battery modules (2) and one or more battery packs (3) according to one aspect of the present disclosure. [0048] In addition, the method for manufacturing a battery module according to one aspect of the present disclosure is characterized by a method of applying an adhesive material (200) (see FIG. 5). In particular, as previously described, the battery module (2) requires heat dissipation measures for safety reasons, and as a heat dissipation measure, a method of forming a heat dissipation adhesive layer by applying a heat dissipation material to the adhesive material used to fix the battery cell (1) is mainly used. However, the battery module (2) was manufactured by applying the heat dissipation adhesive to the inner surface of the module housing (20) and inserting a battery cell unit (2a) thereon, but this manufacturing method had several problems. Accordingly, the method for manufacturing a battery module according to one aspect of the present disclosure can improve the problems caused by the above method.
