Abstract

The present invention relates to a phylogenetic marker of the family Erwinia and its use. In order to overcome the problem of being difficult to classify or to form a phylogenetic tree representing evolutionary relationships using conventional gene or protein sequence analysis when classifying the family Erwinia, the common metabolic pathways of type strain species included in all genera belonging to the family Erwinia, as well as closely related species of the families Enterobacteriaceae and Pectobacteriaceae, were analyzed. It was confirmed that a protein sequence analysis linking five protein sequences of AroBEKAC involved in the shikimate pathway can be used as a new marker to classify the genera and species of bacteria in the family Erwinia and to explain their evolutionary relationships.
