[0021] Hereinafter, embodiments are described in detail with reference to the attached drawings so that those skilled in the art can easily implement the present invention. However, the disclosed embodiments may be implemented in various different forms and are not limited to the embodiments described herein.
[0022] FIGS. 1 and FIGS. 2 are assembled perspective views showing a state in which a camera module for a VPS is mounted on a cover according to one embodiment, respectively. FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view showing a mounting device for a camera module for a VPS according to one embodiment.
[0023] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, a camera module (40, 43) according to one embodiment is a camera module (40) capable of an autofocus function, and is a camera module (40) for a vehicle positioning system (VPS) mounted on a vehicle (hereinafter referred to as a 'camera module'), at least one of which is mounted and may be a camera module (40) necessary to determine the exact location of a vehicle and understand the surrounding environment in an autonomous vehicle and an advanced driver assistance system. For example, each camera module (40, 43) may be a camera module that performs the same function as one another.
[0024] A Vehicle Positioning System (VPS) is a system designed to determine the precise location of a vehicle and understand its surroundings in autonomous vehicles and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It combines GPS, LiDAR, cameras, and sensors to recognize the vehicle's real-time position and support more precise autonomous driving. VPS utilizes Simultaneous Location and Mapping (SLAM), a system capable of simultaneously estimating its own position and generating a map of the surrounding environment through cameras or sensors. SLAM is a technology primarily used in systems such as drones, autonomous vehicles, and robots, and can be particularly useful in indoor environments where GPS is limited or in complex conditions.
[0025] VPS measures a vehicle's position with centimeter-level precision and can determine its relative position to surrounding objects by utilizing sensors such as cameras and LiDAR. For example, it detects other vehicles, pedestrians, traffic lights, and signs on the road, and uses information from surrounding infrastructure to accurately calculate precise locations and distances based on collected data, thereby determining a safe driving route.
[0026] According to one embodiment, the mounting device for the camera module (40) is a mechanical mechanism for mounting the camera module (40) on the front, side, or rear of a vehicle. In this embodiment, a structure in which the lens of the camera module (40) is mounted facing forward on the interior front glass of the vehicle is described as an example. However, according to one embodiment, the mounting device is not limited to being mounted on the front glass of the vehicle, and may be mounted on the rear or side glass of the vehicle.
[0027] According to one embodiment, a mounting device for mounting a camera module (40) to a vehicle front glass may include a cover (10), a fastening bracket (20), a fastening part (30), and a mounting angle adjustment device.
[0028] According to one embodiment, the cover (10) is a member for protecting the camera module (40), and may have a shape in which the front (102) and rear (101) are open and the side (103) is closed. According to one embodiment, the camera module (40) may be mounted on the rear side of the cover (10), and the camera lens may be positioned to face forward. For example, the cover (10) may be made of a material that is robust against environments including strong sunlight and strong radio waves and does not change. For example, two camera modules (40) may be symmetrically arranged on the cover (10).
[0029] According to one embodiment, the fastening bracket (20, 23) may be a mounting member that enables the camera module (40) to be fastened to the fastening part (30). According to one embodiment, the fastening bracket may include first and second fastening brackets (20, 23) that are arranged symmetrically with respect to each other and have the same structure. According to one embodiment, the first and second fastening brackets (20, 23) have the same structure with respect to each other and are arranged symmetrically with respect to each other, so in order to avoid redundant description, only the first fastening bracket (20) (hereinafter referred to as 'fastening bracket') will be described.
[0030] According to one embodiment, the fastening bracket (20) may have a shape including first and second side portions (21, 22) and a back portion (23). According to one embodiment, the fastening bracket (20) may be fastened in a shape that wraps around both sides and the back of the camera module (40). According to one embodiment, a plurality of fastening holes may be formed in each of the first and second side portions (21, 22). For example, two fastening holes (211, 221) spaced apart from each other may be formed. According to one embodiment, a through opening (232) for the cable of the camera module (40) to pass through may be formed in the back portion (23).
[0031] According to one embodiment, the fastening part (30) is an injection molded structure for mounting a camera module (40) on the inner surface of a cover (10) and may include first and second fastening parts (30, 33). According to one embodiment, each of the first and second fastening parts (30, 33) may be formed facing each other and symmetrically with respect to each other. According to one embodiment, the first and second fastening parts (30, 33) are formed with the same structure, so the structure of only the first fastening part (30) will be described. According to one embodiment, the first fastening part (30) may include a device for adjusting the mounting angle of the mounted camera module (40). Hereinafter, this will be referred to as the adjustment device.
[0032] According to one embodiment, the camera module (40) can be rotatably mounted on the first fastening part (30) by means of a control device (31, 32). According to one embodiment, the control device can adjust the mounting angle of the camera module (40) mounted on the fastening part (30) within a limited angle around a rotation axis. According to one embodiment, the adjustment device may include a rotational center opening (31) and a curvature opening (32). According to one embodiment, the rotational center opening (31) may be a hole into which a fastener is fastened, serving as the rotational center axis of the camera module (40). For example, the rotational center opening (31) may have a circular cross-section. According to one embodiment, the curvature opening (32) may have a curved shape, such as an elongated slot with curvature. According to one embodiment, the curvature opening (32) may be a hole into which a fastener is inserted and movable, serving as an opening for adjusting the mounting angle of the mounted camera module (40). For example, the camera module (40) may rotate along the curvature opening (32) with the rotational center opening (31) as the center.
[0033] According to one embodiment, the cover (10) may include a structure for installation, for example, on a vehicle. According to one embodiment, the cover (10) may include a front attachment portion (11) formed along the front edge to be installed on the front glass of a VPS vehicle. According to one embodiment, the front attachment portion (11) extends along the front edge of the cover (10) and may be, for example, polygonal in shape. According to one embodiment, the front attachment portion (11) extends along the edge with a certain width and may be an attachment surface on which silicone is applied. According to one embodiment, the cover (10) may be installed on the front glass of a vehicle using silicone.
[0034] FIG. 4 illustrates a state in which a camera module (40) according to one embodiment is mounted on the front glass (51) of a vehicle (50). The mounted camera module (40) can capture various information within its field of view while observing the front of the vehicle.
