Abstract
This utility model pertains to electrochemical energy and materials science and describes a method for producing a cobalt-free perovskite cathode material for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells. The claimed method for producing the cathode material involves the use of neodymium oxide Nd2O3, barium carbonate BaCO3, zirconium oxide ZrO2, and iron oxide Fe2O3, taken in a stoichiometric ratio corresponding to the composition Nd0.5Ba0.5Zr0.8Fe0.5O3+δ. The initial components are mixed and ground in an agate mortar in the presence of acetone for 2 hours until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, after which the mixture is calcined in air at 1000°C for 8 hours. The resulting powder is pressed under 220 MPa to form pellets 20 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick, followed by sintering at 1200°C for 4 hours. The resulting cobalt-free perovskite cathode material has the composition Nd0.5Ba0.5Zr0.8Fe0.5O3+δ, which exhibits high mixed ion-electron conductivity, low polarization resistance, high thermal stability, and good compatibility with YSZ and GDC electrolytes. The proposed method enables the production of a cathode material suitable for use in intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells.
