A method for rapid diagnostics of nitrogen nutrition of winter wheat

Abstract

The invention relates to agriculture. The objective of the invention is to create an effective method for rapid diagnostics of grain crops using a portable, hand-held GreenSeeker sensor, which allows for the determination of the Normalized Difference Vegetative Index (NDVI). The technical result of the invention is to increase the efficiency of express diagnostics of nitrogen nutrition of winter wheat using a portable device for determining the need of plants for nitrogen fertilization in field conditions, which contributes to an increase in the productivity of winter wheat based on the differentiated application of fertilizers, introduced taking into account the intra-field variation of fields and plants in terms of nutrient content for agricultural production on irrigated light chestnut soils in the south-east of Kazakhstan. The said technical result is achieved by a method of express diagnostics of nitrogen nutrition of plants using a portable device for determining the need of plants for nitrogen fertilization in field conditions, according to the invention, winter wheat crops are used as the plant, the need for nitrogen nutrition of winter wheat is determined photometrically with the determination of the NDVI plant biomass index, obtained by measuring the reflected light from the leaf surface of wheat and the emission of light at two wavelengths.
