Abstract

The present invention relates to a monolithic telescope (22) for compensating off-axis aberrations in a thin disk laser gain module comprising a parabolic mirror (15) and a gain medium. The monolithic telescope (22) features two spaced-apart, cylindrical, concave surfaces in the direction of the pump source, and convex in the direction of the parabolic mirror (15), each surface having distinct radii (R1 and R2, where R1 > R2). This configuration enables the telescope to shape and direct a pump beam toward the parabolic mirror (15), compensating for aberrations introduced by the mirror and ensuring a circular, evenly distributed pump spot on the thin disk gain medium. The invention also includes a method of using the monolithic telescope (22) in a thin disk laser setup to achieve multiple amplifications of the pump beam, enhancing the efficiency of the laser output.
