SURFACE TREATMENT OF METALLIC SUBSTRATES

Abstract

The present invention relates mainly to a method for the surface treatment of metallic substrates, comprising the steps of: (i) providing a metallic substrate comprising surface hydroxyl groups, (ii) bringing the metallic substrate into contact with a solution of at least one organophosphorus compound so as to allow the reaction of said surface hydroxyl groups of the metallic substrate with said organophosphorus compound in order to form a monomolecular layer on the surface and a second layer of physisorbed organophosphorus molecules at least predominantly crystalline, the treated substrate obtained being coated with an organophosphorus compound in monomolecular form and at least in predominantly crystalline form.It is further directed towards a treated metallic substrate which can be obtained by means of this process, the corresponding solution and its use for the treatment of metallic substrates with the aim of improving their tribological properties during their shaping, in particular by stamping.
