Abstract

An electrically powered apparatus for an electric arc furnace (60) includes at least one electrode (62) and can be connected to an electrical network (50) to supply the electrode (62) with electrical energy to generate an electric arc for melting a mass of metal. The apparatus includes an electrical regulation unit (12) interposed and connected to the electrical network (50) and the electrode (62) and configured to regulate at least one electrical quantity to supply the electrode (62). The apparatus includes at least one sensing device (20, 22) for detecting the electrical quantity interposed between the electrode (62) and the electrical regulation unit (12), a positioning device (46) for moving the at least one electrode (62) closer to / away from the mass of metal to be melted, and a control unit (16).
